Chapter 393 - 351: I Won’t Abandon You

Chapter 393: Chapter 351: I Won’t Abandon You

Gu Ning patted her scarf. Good, she hadn’t lost it.

Wearing this outfit, she didn’t feel the slightest bit of cold indoors; in fact, she was even starting to sweat a little. Half an hour outside at most shouldn’t be too cold.

By the time she was ready, the sky was already starting to get dark.

Gu Ning and Alex came out of the hospital. Just as they were looking for a suitable place to film a video, a huge figure lunged at her. "Ning, Ning!"

If Alex hadn’t held Cook back, he would have knocked Gu Ning to the ground.

Having not seen her for several days, Cook hugged her, yelping with excitement and licking her all over, his tail wagging furiously behind him.

Gu Ning had missed the big puppy dearly, too. She vigorously ruffled his large, fluffy head. "Cook, good boy, good boy."

"Ning..." Cook’s excited voice turned into a plaintive whine, which made Gu Ning’s heart ache to hear.

"I’m here, I’m here." Gu Ning rubbed the big puppy’s ears, soothing him in a gentle voice. "I won’t leave you behind."

"WHINE..." Cook licked her face.

Gu Ning felt Cook start to calm down a bit and asked, "Cook, where’s Barto?"

Cook nuzzled against her neck and let out a bark.

Gu Ning murmured softly, "You don’t know either?"

’Where could he have run off to? He answered when I called just now, but then he hung up immediately.’

’He’s really mad at me.’

Gu Ning grew a little worried. ’Oh well, I’ll finish what I need to do first. It’ll give the little fox some time to cool off on his own.’

But with Cook clinging to her like this, it would be difficult to film.

"Cook, I have to work. I’ll play with you later, okay?" Gu Ning whispered close to the big puppy’s ear.

Cook just hugged her, refusing to let go.

They had been apart for too long; he wasn’t as easily coaxed as he used to be.

"Cook..." Gu Ning stroked his head helplessly, at a loss for what to do. Just then, Alex pulled Cook away.

"GRRR!" Cook bared his teeth at Alex, clearly displeased.

"Alex." Gu Ning grabbed his wrist, afraid Cook might bite him. "I’ll take Cook out to play."

"Are you sure?" Alex asked. "Do you really think you’ll have a good time with Cook tagging along?"

Gu Ning nodded, adjusting her loose scarf. "We’ll just be nearby. We won’t go far."

That wasn’t what Alex was worried about. Aside from a few permanent residents, this small town was essentially filled with their own people. As long as Gu Ning didn’t leave its borders, she could wander wherever she pleased.

Seeing her determination, he let go of Cook. "I’ll be right here at the entrance."

.

Gu Ning wandered in a wide circle around the hospital before finally finding a deserted spot to begin filming.

She released the camera sphere, then looked down at her terminal to adjust the shooting angle.

Cook stood behind her, wrapping his arms around her and ceaselessly rubbing his face against her.

Gu Ning patiently patted his head while adjusting the camera sphere. Sensing that Ningning wouldn’t abandon him and feeling secure with her there, Cook gradually calmed down and stopped clinging to her so desperately.

"Such a good boy."

Gu Ning smiled and stroked Cook’s head. She scanned her surroundings one more time and, seeing that the distant patrol team wasn’t approaching, took off her mask. She looked up at the camera sphere hovering in mid-air and officially began filming.

The sky was steadily growing darker, so Gu Ning hurried to film, controlling the camera sphere as she went to capture the best possible shots.

There was no wind that day. Snowflakes drifted down silently, disappearing into the bright yellow halo of a streetlight.

Gu Ning stood under the streetlight as snowflakes landed on her eyelashes. Feeling the chill, she exhaled a puff of white mist and slowly raised her head. Amidst the vast whiteness, her bright, limpid eyes and faintly flushed cheeks became the most vibrant and captivating splash of color.

As she tilted her head back, her hat fell off. A sudden gust of wind swept past, whipping her half-tied hair up with the swirling snowflakes.

An icy snowflake blew into her eye. She rubbed at it as she bent down to pick up her hat.

A hand snatched up the hat before she could, steadying her just as she was about to tumble into the snow.

Gu Ning grabbed the hand, letting it pull her to her feet.

"What are you doing running around out here?" Barto patted the snow off her hat, preparing to put it on for her. "How is Alex even looking after you? How could he let you..."

Gu Ning slapped Barto’s hand away. Her lips pressed into a thin line, and her face darkened as she asked, "Where did you run off to?"

Barto said, "Where could I have gone? I was just nearby... getting some air."

Seeing the dark look on Gu Ning’s face, his voice grew softer and softer.

"Put it on so you don’t catch a cold. We should go back..."

Gu Ning snatched the hat from him and turned to leave, intent on ignoring him. But after a few steps, she took a deep breath and stopped.

Barto, who had been tailing her step for step, hadn’t judged the distance correctly and bumped right into her.

The impact sent Gu Ning stumbling forward, and she fell to her knees in the snow.

Gu Ning: "..."

Barto: "..."

"Why’d you stop so suddenly?" Barto exclaimed as he came to his senses, hurrying to pull her up.

Gu Ning grabbed a handful of snow and shoved it right in the little fox’s face.

Barto froze. He slowly straightened up, stopping halfway.

Gu Ning let out a breath. "Sit!"

Barto squatted down.
