The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 671: Holding Her Daughter Tight

Chapter 671: Chapter 671: Holding Her Daughter Tight

Renee Jennings called Henry Stark and followed Zephyr in her car.

"Henry, Zephyr found some suspicious individuals. I’m having him lead me to the scene now."

She put the call on speaker, and his deep voice came through. "Okay. Share your location. Don’t make a move when you get there. Wait for us."

"Understood," Renee Jennings replied.

After hanging up, she opened WeChat and shared her location.

About forty-some minutes later, Zephyr flew up to the car window. "We’re almost there. It’s just ahead."

The car had left the city center far behind, and there were no pedestrians along the road. In the distance, Renee Jennings saw several high-rises looming; that must be the place Zephyr was talking about.

Renee Jennings drove to the entrance of a residential complex and slowed down, but she heard Zephyr say they weren’t there yet.

After driving a bit further, she got a clear view of the complex’s layout. On one side was a high-rise residential area, and on the other, separated by a greenbelt, was a district of single-family villas.

Zephyr circled, flapping its wings, and said, "I saw those two suspicious characters near these low-rise buildings just now."

"Okay." Renee Jennings gave a slight nod and instructed in a low voice, "You go on ahead and see what those two are doing. I’ll park the car."

"OK!" Zephyr chirped. With a powerful beat of its wings, it shot away in a brief gust of wind, disappearing from sight in moments.

Renee Jennings was still hesitating over where to park when the security guard from the villa gatehouse walked over.

The middle-aged man, who looked to be in his forties or fifties, asked with a friendly smile, "Miss, are you looking for someone?"

"Sir, I’m not looking for a person, I’m looking for a cat," Renee Jennings explained. "My cat just jumped out of the window, and I think I saw it run in here. Can I go inside and look for it?"

"A cat ran in here?" The guard glanced back, then let out a sigh. "Oh, that’s going to be a tough search."

"I know, I’m so worried I won’t find him," Renee Jennings sighed. "My grandmother is getting old. She doesn’t recognize anyone anymore, just that cat."

Hearing this, the guard quickly said, "Then you should hurry in and look. I have a flashlight you can borrow."

"That would be great, thank you, sir." Renee Jennings smiled. "Where would be a good place to park my car?"

The guard pointed her in the right direction.

Renee Jennings parked her car, borrowed the flashlight, and entered the villa district.

Just then, Zephyr flew toward her.

"What’s the situation?" she asked in a hushed voice.

Zephyr: "They must be hiding. I can’t see them."

"Okay." Renee Jennings nodded. "Do you remember what the owner of the house looks like?"

Zephyr shook its head. "I didn’t notice. I was too busy watching those two suspicious two-leggeds."

Renee Jennings glanced at the location sharing on her phone. Henry Stark was still some distance away. She hesitated for a few seconds. "Zephyr, take me to the house first."

She would wait near the house and stop anyone who tried to go in.

"Alright." Zephyr gently flapped its wings, maintaining a medium altitude as it flew ahead to lead the way.

"We’re here. This is it."

Renee Jennings glanced at the house number: Villa 11.

She pondered for a few seconds, then walked over to the villa across the street and pretended to look for her cat. "Mimi, where are you? Come on out..."

About ten minutes later, a white sedan pulled into the parking spot for Villa 11.

Renee Jennings inconspicuously turned her head to look.

The driver’s side door opened, and a woman in a cream-colored coat stepped out. She had long, wavy hair cascading over her chest, and her makeup was exquisite.

She opened the back door and said in a gentle voice, "Nora, we’re home."

A little girl, slightly taller than Jasmine, climbed out of the back seat in a dance outfit.

"Mommy, after my bath, can I watch some TV?"

"Of course, you can." The woman locked the car, took her daughter’s hand, and was about to open the gate to Villa 11.

"Hello!" Renee Jennings called out. "Excuse me, have you seen my cat, Mimi?"

"Mimi?" The woman frowned in confusion. "What Mimi?"

"Mimi is my cat," Renee Jennings explained. "She just ran off, and I’ve been looking for her for a long time but can’t find her."

Hearing this, Nora immediately looked around curiously. "Miss, I don’t think there are any cats here."

"That’s right, we haven’t seen a cat. You could ask the patrolling security guards or the cleaning staff to keep an eye out for you." After speaking, the woman once again prepared to open the gate.

"Wait," Renee Jennings said, her voice low as she stopped them.

A hint of confusion and wariness appeared in the woman’s eyes. "Who are you? What is this about?"

Renee Jennings took out her phone and tapped it a couple of times. "You should watch this video first."

On the screen was footage from her previous livestream.

The woman watched for a moment, then suddenly recalled a friend mentioning a girl online who was amazing—she could understand what animals were saying.

She looked at the screen, then back at Renee Jennings, and asked hesitantly, "Is the person in this video you?"

"Yes," Renee Jennings nodded.

The woman was clearly intelligent. Her eyes darted about as her brow slowly furrowed. "You wouldn’t have stopped me for no reason."

A faint smile touched Renee Jennings’s lips. "Would it be convenient to talk in your car?"

The woman hesitated for two seconds, then agreed. "Okay."

She sat in the driver’s seat with Nora, while Renee Jennings got into the back seat.

It was quiet in the car, which made the gravity in her tone even clearer. "An hour ago, I had just finished my livestream when I learned from Zephyr that two suspicious men had entered your house. That’s why I rushed over."

"Suspicious people entered my house?" The woman’s brow tightened as she quickly pulled out her phone to check the security footage.

Renee Jennings continued, "Zephyr told me the two of them climbed over the wall and got in through a window."

The woman stared at her phone screen for a moment, her eyes suddenly widening. A look of panic appeared on her face.

On the footage, she saw that two strangers had indeed entered her home two hours ago.

"Oh my god... Are they insane? They just came into my house to eat and watch TV?" The woman found it utterly absurd.

Renee Jennings said softly, "They didn’t come into your house to eat and watch TV."

"Then what do they want?" the woman asked, confused.

Renee Jennings: "What do you think?"

The woman’s brow was furrowed. "They’re burglars!"

Renee Jennings: "They’re burglars, yes, but their target probably isn’t just money."

The woman seemed to have a sudden realization. The color drained from her face, and a wave of belated fear washed over her as a cold sweat broke out on her back.

If Renee Jennings hadn’t stopped her just now, she would have walked into her home with Nora, completely defenseless. What would have happened then...

The woman hardly dared to think about it further, instinctively pulling her daughter into a tight hug.

"Should I call the police now?" She turned to look back at Renee Jennings.

"I’ve already called them." Renee Jennings placed a hand on the woman’s trembling shoulder and comforted her gently, "Don’t be afraid. You’re both safe now."

Hearing those words, tears instantly welled up in the woman’s eyes. She choked out, "Thank you. You saved me and my daughter."
