Chapter 670: Two Very Suspicious Humans
Chapter 670: Chapter 670: Two Very Suspicious Humans
Hearing what was said inside, Benjamin Shepherd froze, his hacking at the door coming to an abrupt halt.
Winnie, sensing the commotion outside had stopped, called out anxiously, "I’m not lying to you! Winnie really isn’t here."
Benjamin Shepherd turned his head to look at the door across the hall, frowning as he recalled what he had just seen.
’Which room did that bitch go into?’
’I think I saw Winnie open the door to the room across the hall.’
Benjamin Shepherd narrowed his eyes, turned around, and raised the gleaming cleaver in his hand, hacking viciously at the other doorknob.
When Winnie heard him hacking at the opposite door, she instantly let out a sigh of relief, a slow smile forming on her lips.
DailyQuitter was startled by the sudden, violent noise.
She stared at the vibrating door, gripping her phone anxiously. "He’s suddenly chopping at my door! I don’t know what Winnie said. What should I do now?"
[Shouldn’t you call the police? This is too dangerous!]
[Ah, this is so nerve-wracking to watch.]
Renee Jennings spoke in a gentle voice, "Teddy, is there anything in the room you can push against the door to barricade it?"
"Let me see." DailyQuitter quickly pushed a stool and her nightstand against it.
The rest of the furniture was built-in and couldn’t be moved.
She looked around the room and pushed the full-length mirror over as well.
After doing this, she picked up her phone again. "Ms. Jennings, is this okay?"
[What good will barricading the door do? Calling the police is safer.]
[Streamer, don’t give bad advice! You’re going to get someone killed.]
"That will do," Renee Jennings said softly. "Don’t be too scared. The police are already downstairs."
[Huh? When did the streamer call the police?]
[That’s great, boohoohoo.]
[I can finally breathe a sigh of relief!]
Hearing this, DailyQuitter also let out a huge sigh of relief.
"Thank God I connected with Ms. Jennings today, otherwise I might have..." Her voice trailed off, choked with sobs.
Outside the door, the sound of the cleaver hacking at the wood was accompanied by Benjamin Shepherd’s curses.
Just as he hacked the lock open and was about to shoulder the door down, three uniformed police officers rushed forward and subdued him.
The rage clouding Benjamin Shepherd’s mind gradually began to clear.
He, too, was terrified by his own actions, his legs trembling uncontrollably.
One of the female officers stepped forward and knocked on the door. "Hello, we’re the police. The assailant has been subdued. You don’t need to be afraid."
DailyQuitter quickly moved the things blocking the door, opened it, and bowed deeply with emotion. "Officers, thank you for arriving so quickly! Thank you so much!"
The policewoman smiled slightly. "Protecting the people is our mission."
In the other room, when Winnie learned the police had arrested Benjamin Shepherd, she acted as if it had nothing to do with her and lay down on her bed to play on her phone.
Just as she was about to record a few videos with special effects, there was a sudden knock on her door.
"Hello, could you please come out for a moment," the policewoman’s voice called.
Winnie frowned and asked suspiciously, "Is there a problem?"
"We’re the police. We need your cooperation with an investigation."
"Sorry, I’m not feeling well."
Hearing this, the policewoman’s tone instantly turned stern. "Ma’am, are you sure you want to obstruct a police officer in the lawful execution of their duties?"
There were a few seconds of silence from inside, followed by the sound of footsteps.
Winnie opened the door, frowning. "What do you want?"
"We’ll need you to come with us to the station." The policewoman said, then looked at DailyQuitter. "You’ll also need to come give a statement."
DailyQuitter nodded. "Okay, I’ll cooperate fully."
She lowered her gaze to her phone screen, a sweet smile on her face.
Renee Jennings’s lips curved into a slight smile. "Go on, Teddy. Demand the compensation you deserve, and get this whole thing settled."
"Okay, I will!" DailyQuitter replied. She waved, channeling all her gratitude and relief into two simple, sincere words: "Thank you!"
After disconnecting, she gifted three "Romantic Fireworks" in a row and left a message in the public chat with the heartfelt words she hadn’t said earlier.
DailyQuitter was the last viewer to connect today.
Renee Jennings read her comment, responded, and then ended the stream.
She rubbed her neck with one hand while texting with the other.
When she put her phone down, Zephyr landed in front of her, cooing, "Are you done with your work?"
Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow, her eyes curving into a smile as she asked, "What’s up? Do you need me for something?"
Zephyr: "Of course, I do. It’s serious business."
Renee Jennings teased, "What is it? Couldn’t catch a turtledove again?"
Zephyr: "..."
He was angry for two seconds before saying, "That joke wasn’t funny at all."
Renee Jennings: "Then what’s this serious business you mentioned?"
Zephyr: "I... This falcon was just cruising around outside and suddenly spotted two very suspicious humans."
Hearing this, Renee Jennings immediately grew serious and pressed, "Why did you think they were suspicious?"
Zephyr: "To get into the house, they didn’t just open the door and walk in. They climbed over the wall first, then jumped through a window."
’Climbed over the wall...’
Renee Jennings narrowed her eyes, her tone growing even more serious. "Did you hear what they were saying?"
Zephyr: "I did. Actually, even before they climbed the wall, my wise falcon eyes had already noticed them."
"Go on."
"They seemed really afraid of being discovered, hiding in the bushes while they talked. I heard them say..."
"I’ve been watching this family for a long time," said Human #1. "The man looks like a total weakling. I could probably knock him flat in a few hits. That just leaves the woman and the kid. No threat at all."
Hearing this, Human #2 immediately said, "There’s a kid? Oh, that makes it easy. We just grab the kid and make them hand over all their money!"
Human #1 laughed. "Bro, you’re the smart one. Being a few years younger really makes a difference. Your brain works way better than mine."
"So when are we making our move?"
"Let’s wait a bit. In about an hour, they’ll take the kid out for a class. We’ll go in after they leave."
"Sounds good."
"Hey, and let me tell you, that woman is drop-dead gorgeous. Her body is insane. Those tits look bigger than her ass..."
The two looked at each other and then broke into a lecherous laugh.
"Bro, I get what you mean."
"You get it?"
"Of course. You’re after the money *and* the woman."
"You don’t want her?"
"I do, I do! But I have to let you go first, bro!"
As Renee Jennings listened to Zephyr’s account, a grave expression appeared on her face. "So after the homeowners left, they climbed the wall and went in through the window?"
"Right," Zephyr said. "I thought it was really strange, so I followed them. I saw them eating food inside the house, just like they owned the place."
"How long ago was that?" Renee Jennings asked urgently.
Zephyr looked at the sky outside the window, tilted his head, and thought for a moment. "It was still a bit light out. You could see the sun."
Renee Jennings also looked out the window. The brilliant colors of the sunset had faded, and the sky was gradually being consumed by the night.
Her expression suddenly darkened, her voice tight. "Do you remember the location? Take me there."
