Chapter 637: This Must Be an Ill-fated Relationship?

Chapter 637: Chapter 637: This Must Be an Ill-fated Relationship?

Yvonne Morgan was cooped up in her small apartment, where she’d hired a makeup artist for a house call.

But no matter how she was styled, she looked at herself in the mirror from every angle and was still unsatisfied.

"Can’t you be a little more professional?" Yvonne Morgan’s face darkened, her tone dripping with undisguised contempt. "What kind of makeup do you call this? It’s tacky as hell. I’d be better off doing it myself!"

In the past, whenever she attended important events, she’d had a whole team from a high-end styling studio buzzing around her.

One person handled her makeup, another her hair, and a third was there just to serve her tea and water.

And now? She could only afford to hire some unknown, ordinary makeup artist. The more she thought about it, the more wronged and furious she felt.

The makeup artist had already redone her makeup and hair several times, and her patience had worn thin.

She slammed her makeup brush down on the table and snapped, "What the hell is your problem? I’m done waiting on you! You’re paying me eight hundred yuan, not eight hundred US dollars, and you’re still complaining about every little thing!"

"What kind of attitude is that?" Yvonne Morgan was livid. "Believe it or not, I’m filing a complaint against you!"

"Go ahead and report me," the makeup artist said as she packed her kit. "You’d be pathetic if you didn’t!"

Yvonne Morgan clenched her fists, her body trembling uncontrollably. "You... you..."

She let out a laugh of pure fury. "Fine. You just wait. I’ll make sure you never work in this industry again!"

The makeup artist picked up her kit, stood up, and smiled faintly. "Just a friendly reminder: I’ve been recording audio and video of this entire session. So by all means, bring it on."

"What?" Yvonne Morgan’s eyes flew open in shock, her face twisting into a hideous mask of rage. "You were secretly recording me...?"

"Don’t get the wrong idea," the makeup artist explained. "It’s standard company policy. Since it’s a house call, we record to ensure the safety of both the client and the artist and to avoid unnecessary disputes."

"You and your shady little business are disgusting!" Yvonne Morgan was about to lose her mind. ’How could she not hear the threat in the woman’s tone?’

The makeup artist smiled faintly. "Our three-hour styling session is up. Have a nice life. Goodbye!"

After the makeup artist left, Yvonne Morgan could no longer contain her rage. She snatched the bottles and jars in front of her and hurled them at the door in a frenzy.

About fifteen minutes later, Yvonne Morgan finally calmed down.

She glanced at the time. Her date with Sean Fuller was in just two hours.

’How is two hours enough?’

Yvonne Morgan tugged at her hair in frustration. After a moment’s hesitation, she decided to remove all the makeup and redo it herself.

As twilight deepened, the city’s neon lights flickered on, blooming into a kaleidoscope of colors. The bright moon cast its tranquil, silvery glow over the ground.

Inside the restaurant, soothing music drifted through the air. Warm, orange light filtered through glass lampshades, casting soft patterns of light and shadow on the tables.

Renee Jennings and Michelle Fuller had chosen a table in the corner and were slowly savoring their meal.

Sean Fuller glanced over at them, his eyes filled with both hunger and envy.

’Why is my life so hard? Why do I have to be the one to deal with Yvonne Morgan...’

Sean Fuller was getting annoyed. He crossed his arms, his face a mask of indignation.

After a moment, a delicate, sweet voice drifted over, accompanied by a wave of perfume. "Sean, I’m so sorry to have kept you waiting."

Sean Fuller frowned, but as he stood up, he put on a mask, forcing a smile. "Not at all. I just got here myself. Please, sit."

Yvonne Morgan sat down across from him, clutching a small designer handbag, and tucked a long, curled strand of hair behind her ear. "I thought you would’ve booked a private room."

"It’s too stuffy in the private rooms," Sean Fuller replied casually. "Not a fan."

"You’re right, the air circulates much better out here," Yvonne Morgan said with a delicate laugh, covering her mouth. "You have such good taste."

Sean Fuller’s eyebrow twitched almost imperceptibly.

He could clearly sense a change in Yvonne Morgan.

Before, while her voice had always been soft, her tone had betrayed an air of superiority.

Now, she seemed to be pandering to him, trying to win his favor.

Sean Fuller raised his hand, and a waiter immediately approached. "Sir, how may I help you?"

"Please take this lady’s order."

"Certainly." The waiter turned to Yvonne Morgan. "Good evening, ma’am. Would you like me to go over the menu with you?"

"No need." Yvonne Morgan casually ordered a few dishes and a bottle of red wine.

She looked at Sean Fuller and gave him a sweet smile. "Sean, let’s not go home until we’re drunk tonight."

"’Not go home until we’re drunk’?" Sean Fuller frowned slightly, mulling over the implications of her words.

Yvonne Morgan curved her lips into what she considered a captivating smile. "That’s right. I’m very happy tonight."

Sean Fuller: "..."

’This woman is definitely up to something!’ he thought.

’Good thing I brought my two "sisters" along,’ he thought. ’I should be safe enough.’

The waiter brought over a few appetizers, and Yvonne Morgan could no longer hold back, beginning to drop hints. "Sean, you know, I’m actually a very introverted girl."

"Is that so?" Sean Fuller replied noncommittally. ’If you’re introverted, then I must be a complete recluse,’ he thought.

"I never thought I could be this brave." Yvonne Morgan lowered her gaze, putting on a bashful look in the dim, soft light. "To actually take the initiative and confess my feelings to a man."

Sean Fuller didn’t know what to say, so he just kept drinking his water and eating, anything to keep his mouth busy.

When she didn’t get the reaction she was hoping for, Yvonne Morgan couldn’t help but frown.

She peeked up at him, only to find that Sean Fuller seemed to only have eyes for the food.

"Sean, are you that hungry?" she asked, her voice gentle as she suppressed her irritation.

Sean Fuller nodded. "Yeah, I haven’t eaten all day."

"Why not?" Yvonne Morgan asked hesitantly. "Don’t tell me it’s because you were too nervous about our date?"

"I was definitely nervous," Sean Fuller nodded again. ’The very thought of it makes me sick to my stomach,’ he thought. ’How could I possibly eat?’

Her mood improved slightly upon hearing his answer. "Sean, since I’ve already put my cards on the table, I’ll be blunt. I’ve liked you since the first moment I laid eyes on you."

Sean Fuller frowned slightly. He’d suddenly lost his appetite again.

’Thank goodness my sisters figured out her scheme,’ he thought. ’Otherwise, I’d still be completely in the dark, like an idiot.’

’Wicked woman! Not only is she using me, she’s playing with my feelings!’

The more Sean Fuller thought about it, the angrier he became, his fists clenching tighter and tighter.

He suppressed his fury and forced a smile. "Oh... and then?"

A flicker of displeasure crossed Yvonne Morgan’s eyes.

’What kind of man was this Sean Fuller?’ she fumed. ’I’m being this forward, and all he can say is "and then?"’

’If I had any better options right now, I’d flip this table and walk out.’

Yvonne Morgan suppressed her temper, once again tucking her hair behind her ear. "Fate is a funny thing, isn’t it?" she said softly. "With just one look, I knew you were the man I want to spend the rest of my life with."

She paused, but when Sean Fuller didn’t respond, she had no choice but to continue. "Sean, I love you. I want to know what you’re thinking."

Sean Fuller pursed his lips and cleared his throat. "Actually, I feel a strong connection to you, too... What’s the best way to put it? I guess you could call it a fateful disaster?"
