Chapter 1057: Heishe And Tao-chan Join The Fight

Chapter 1057: Chapter 1057: Heishe And Tao-chan Join The Fight

Outside the trembling perimeter of the Inscriber Division...

The alliance of experts, who had been ruthlessly attacking the barrier without a single shred of restraint, suddenly froze mid-stride. A primal, instinctual terror gripped their hearts as a suffocatingly ancient aura descended upon the entire battlefield.

A true Divine Beast had just manifested. Appearing majestically before their eyes was an enormous, glittering white python. Its pristine, snow-white scales reflected dazzling, blinding rays of sunlight as its massive, piercing golden eyes calmly and heavily looked down upon every single high-level expert gathered outside the gates.

"A... a Divine Beast?!"

"Why on earth is a Divine Beast appearing in a place like this?"

"Is it actually protecting the Beast King?!"

"That’s mathematically impossible! A Divine Beast would not serve another!"

The experts immediately broke into a panicked, frantic discussion among themselves, their previous arrogance instantly evaporating as they looked up at Baishe with profoundly wary, trembling expressions.

Baishe’s majestic golden eyes slowly swept across the sea of faces, his gaze cold and indifferent.

"Leave this place immediately." Baishe’s calm, melodic voice echoed clearly across the entire mountain range, vibrating in their bones.

"Otherwise..." He paused briefly, letting the heavy silence hang in the air before continuing. "You already know exactly what will happen to your souls if you choose to ignore my explicit warning."

Hearing the threat, one of the leading experts in the crowd quickly swallowed his fear and sneered loudly, trying to rally the fading morale.

"Everyone, why should we fear a single beast?!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, desperately encouraging the people around him. "It’s only one Divine Beast! Look at our numbers. There are dozens of legendary masters here today! If we coordinate and fight him together, we can easily slaughter him!"

At first, no one said a word. Many of the older, wiser experts remained deeply hesitant, their survival instincts screaming at them to run. Then, one after another, the poison of greed began to work its magic. They slowly began nodding their heads.

"Yeah! He’s right!"

"Let’s fight!"

"Let’s kill this Divine Beast together!"

"Just a single one of its divine scales is already worth a priceless kingdom!"

"Yeah! I want to harvest its hide to forge a supreme artifact sword!"

Their false confidence gradually returned in waves as overwhelming greed slowly but surely conquered their initial fear.

Baishe quietly stood his ground, listening to every single disgusting, greedy remark with an expression of mild amusement. His golden eyes narrowed to thin, dangerous slits.

’Stupid, short-lived humans...’ Baishe thought to himself. ’No matter how many centuries pass, they are always thinking about the exact same pathetic things.’

However, just as the experts grew excited and began channelling their spiritual Qi to launch a coordinated attack, their expressions froze entirely once again. Every single pair of eyes in the alliance widened in horror, turning toward another gigantic, monstrous beast that had just silently materialised directly behind Baishe’s massive frame.

Even Principal Qiao Wenhao and the vanguard of academy teachers who had just rushed to the scene were completely paralysed by what they saw.

It was Tao-chan, who had fully returned to his colossal, original form.

Taotie.

The legendary, world-devouring calamity of ancient history. Standing proudly side-by-side with Baishe, his dark, hunger-filled intentions could not have been any more painfully obvious to the crowd. He, too, was acting as an absolute shield for the emerging Beast King.

The gathered experts simply could not comprehend what was happening. Their minds were reeling. They could not understand why Taotie, a supreme Divine Beast that had completely disappeared from the records of the mortal world for thousands of years, would suddenly appear in this insignificant, modern school just to protect a newborn cub.

Principal Qiao Wenhao and the elder teachers who recognised the beast’s true identity were equally stunned into silence. As far as their official academy records knew, the great Taotie had been eternally sealed deep inside the isolated trial world supervised by Tianlong School.

So, how under heaven had he broken his shackles and appeared here as someone’s guardian? Countless terrifying questions immediately surfaced in their minds, but before anyone could even begin to recover from the sheer psychological shock, another enormous, world-shaking beast slithered into view.

It was a gigantic, pitch-black python that seemed to swallow the light around it. The exact millisecond everyone sensed its crushing, volatile aura, they immediately recognised that it, too, was a fully matured Divine Beast.

Three. Three absolute Divine Beasts, standing in a unified front line.

The entire atmosphere outside the Inscriber Division instantly became deathly, suffocatingly silent. Not a single cultivator dared to breathe.

Heishe slowly lifted his colossal, dark head high into the air, flicking his tongue as he looked down at the frozen humans with an expression of obvious, deeply insulted disappointment.

"Why aren’t you fighting anymore?" Heishe tilted his massive head, mocking them innocently. "Weren’t you all shouting and chanting so loudly just a second ago about how badly you wanted to come inside our courtyard?"

He slowly, menacingly slithered a few paces forward, his scales grinding against the stone.

"Come on then." His crimson eyes narrowed into a thoroughly taunting, wicked grin. "Kill me. If you pathetic ants actually manage to kill me... then you can walk right inside and take whatever you want."

He paused, letting out a dark, booming chuckle that rattled their weapons. "What’s the matter? Are you cowards scared already?"

’Tsk’. He clicked his tongue loudly, the sound echoing like a whip crack over the silent crowd. "What an absolute bunch of spineless cowards."

Heishe’s blatant, dripping provocation immediately caused the faces of the proud outside experts to turn a dark, humiliated shade of purple, caught between intense fury and absolute, life-threatening terror.
