Chapter 676: Distribution of Demon Bone

Chapter 676: Chapter 676: Distribution of Demon Bone

Upon hearing this, Fang Lin sheepishly smiled, “I am truly sorry. It was more complicated than I expected and took more time. I made you all wait.”

Everyone looked towards Dugu Nian. She was the most anxious person these past several days, her eyes barely straying from the Ancient Forest.

Dugu Nian bit her lip lightly, walked over to Fang Lin, and gave him a hard kick.

Fang Lin grimaced, but also playfully ruffled Dugu Nian’s hair, messing it up in the process.

“You succeeded?” Mei Yingxue asked Fang Lin, her eyes sparkling with a flicker of excitement.

Everyone looked at Fang Lin, waiting for his response.

Fang Lin smiled, “Indeed, I succeeded.”

As he spoke, Fang Lin waved his hand and five pieces of the Demon Bone appeared in his hand, shimmering faintly.

This sight made everyone gasp and their eyes immediately lit up with excitement.

To their astonishment, Fang Lin had actually succeeded in acquiring five pieces of Demon Bone from right under the Demon King’s nose.

Although they didn’t know how Fang Lin managed to do so, that wasn’t important. What mattered was that Fang Lin had indeed acquired the five Demon Bone pieces, and the question now was how to distribute them.

With a smile playing at the corners of his mouth, Fang Lin observed their reactions, and with a wave of his hand, the Demon Bones were put back into the bag.

Upon seeing this, everyone’s expressions changed subtly.

“Now that we have acquired the Demon Bones, we should discuss how to distribute the five pieces.” Dugu Ruoxu spoke up with a calm expression, apparently not too concerned about the Demon Bones.

Chi Yunxiao also said, “The five of us are the strongest, so it would be most reasonable for each of us to have one piece.”

Wang Erdan scratched his head, “These Demon Bones were actually brought by Fang Lin. How we distribute them should be up to him.”

Mei Yingxue didn’t say anything, but her eyes were fixed on Fang Lin, filled with meaning.

Inwardly chuckling, Fang Lin glanced at everyone, ridiculing their desire to share in the spoils without having lifted a finger. They were truly laughable.

“Fang Lin, the distribution of the Demon Bone should be decided after a collective discussion, not by just one or two people,” Chi Yunxiao spoke up coldly.

“Exactly! With so many of us and only five Demon Bones, we must carefully discuss before we distribute them.”

“Giving everyone one each would be most reasonable.”

“As long as someone doesn’t monopolize them, everything will be fine.”

····

The warriors from the Dugu Family, Five Elements Sect, and Shenxiao Sect all voiced out. While they didn’t say it explicitly, they were clearly directing their words at Fang Lin. What they meant was that the five Demon Bones had to be distributed fairly. Fang Lin could not monopolize them, and it wasn’t up to him to decide how they should be distributed.

Dugu Nian, upset by what she was hearing, immediately glared at the crowd and said, “What are you implying? Everyone just sat here doing nothing while musing about divvying up the Demon Bones. Fang Lin risked his life for these Demon Bones, why shouldn’t he have the right to distribute them?”

“Nian, we’re not saying that Fang Lin doesn’t have the right to distribute the Demon Bone. What we mean is that we should decide together on the distribution, and of course, Fang Lin will have his share since he acquired them,” Dugu Ruoxu said indifferently.

Dugu Nian retorted, “None of you have the right to dictate how they should be distributed. Only Fang Lin has that right, and if he doesn’t want to share with you, you have no right to complain.”

At her words, everyone’s faces darkened except for Wang Erdan, who seemed indifferent.

Although they didn’t want to admit it, it was true that most of them hadn’t contributed much. Fang Lin risked his life to acquire the five Demon Bones, and yet they wanted to interfere with the distribution. This felt rather unfair.

But what of it? The Demon Bones were so precious that of course, they’d have to fight for them. If it weren’t for the fact that Fang Lin was already powerful enough and Dugu Ruoxu and the others had no confidence in taking him on, they would’ve already turned against him and snatched the Demon Bones for themselves.

“Fang Lin, you should be clear that you aren’t the only one who can decide how the Demon Bone will be distributed!” Chi Yunxiao stared at Fang Lin, a hint of threat in his voice.

Dugu Nian was on the verge of cursing, but Fang Lin patted her shoulder to calm her down.

At that moment, Fang Lin playfully looked at the group and said, “Well then, I’d like to hear your opinions on how we should distribute these five Demon Bones.”

Seeing Fang Lin’s compromise, everyone breathed a silent sigh of relief. If Fang Lin had refused to share, they would have been put in a difficult situation.

Dugu Ruoxu was the first to say, “Five pieces of Demon Bone should naturally be distributed amongst the five of us. This is the most fair and reasonable.”

The five people Dugu Ruoxu referred to were himself, Chi Yunxiao, Mei Yingxue, Wang Erdan, and Fang Lin.

Such distribution received the majority’s approval. One for each person seemed fair and reasonable on the surface, since no one would gain or lose more than the rest.

But in reality, this was the most unfair way of distributing for Fang Lin, who had secured all five pieces of Demon Bone without any assistance from the others. As Dugu Nian pointed out, they were all merely reaping the rewards of Fang Lin’s efforts.

To sit back and get one piece of Demon Bone without contributing anything, while risking his life to retrieve them, but only getting one piece for himself, seemed grossly unfair.

“No, Fang Lin took the risk to bring back the Demon Bones, so he should at least get two pieces. His contribution was the greatest after all,” Wang Erdan frowned and argued. The simple-minded man didn’t have ulterior motives. He just thought such distribution was unfair to Fang Lin.

Everyone from the Five Elements Sect rolled their eyes at Erdan, speechless at his bluntness. While everyone was trying to get more for themselves, he was siding with Fang Lin—was he missing a brain?

Chi Yunxiao and Dugu Ruoxu shot Wang Erdan a sideways glance, their meaning clear without words.

“Fang Lin, do you find the arrangement of one Demon Bone per person acceptable?” Mei Yingxue asked Fang Lin.

Everyone’s eyes turned towards Fang Lin, awaiting his response.

With a smile, Fang Lin replied, “One for each… that seems quite fair.”

Hearing his response, people began to relax, appreciating Fang Lin’s cooperativeness and understanding.

“Since you agree, hand over the Demon Bones. You keep one for yourself and the rest will be distributed among us four,” Chi Yunxiao, his eyes fixed on Fang Lin’s Nine Palace Bag, told him.

However, Fang Lin did nothing, merely looking at them with an amused smile.

“What do you mean by that, Fang Lin?” Chi Yunxiao’s face darkened.

The corners of Fang Lin’s lip turned upwards in a smirk, “Nothing really. The distribution method is fine, I just don’t agree.”

Upon hearing this, everyone’s expressions darkened, except for Mei Yingxue and Wang Erdan.
