Chapter 168: How Did You Know I’m a Fool?
In the face of her customers’ wild speculation, Lu Wu admitted defeat. In the end, she had no choice but to log into her main account to clear her name.
“Hey fam, Boss Lu has respawned. Waiting for you all.”
Some of her customers knew about Lu Wu’s account on One World Communication, but she usually just lurked, rarely commenting or making any posts.
When the account suddenly posted, their first reaction was that it was an impersonator.
“Damn, the people impersonating Boss Lu are getting really convincing. Look, you can even see Dahuang’s tail in the corner of the photo.”
“Yo, don’t think you can fool me, you troll. My eyes are sharp.”
But not all the customers were so easily fooled. Some figured out the truth.
“Wait, that’s not right, fam. I think this is actually Boss Lu’s account.”
“Oh my god, I clicked on her profile to check. A ‘three-no product’! Damn, it really is Boss Lu!”
“I can hardly believe Boss Lu just popped up like that.”
Seeing her customers finally realize the truth, Lu Wu felt a bit of comfort. However, when she saw that one comment, she really wanted to have a word with them.
‘What do you mean, ‘three-no product’?’
‘My food… Okay, fine. The Green Origin Realm doesn’t have food business permits, health certificates, or business licenses.’
‘Thinking about it that way, I really am selling ‘three-no products’.’
‘No one would report me, right?’
Frightened, Lu Wu pulled back the hand that was about to wage a three-hundred-round war with her customers online.
“Does anyone know where Yaoxian Town is? I’ve never heard of it.”
“To the poster above, even if you haven’t heard of Yaoxian Town, you must know of the Heavenly Buddha Temple, right? Yaoxian Town is right near it.”
“So you’re saying Boss Lu might be setting up her stall at the gates of the Heavenly Buddha Temple?”
“Alright, since we’re on the topic, I’m not gonna pretend anymore. I’ll come clean. Yes, Boss Lu is set up right at the entrance of the Heavenly Buddha Temple. I’m a disciple here, and I’ve already gotten to enjoy her food.”
“Bros, quick, look! This guy seems familiar. In another thread just now, it was this same Buddhist Sect disciple who was stirring up trouble.”
“So you’re saying… that troll was actually Boss Lu?”
“Oh my god, I just insulted Boss Lu! What do I do, what do I do?”
Some of the customers who had argued with Lu Wu’s alt account were on the verge of tears.
‘Fam, we’re not going to be kicked out of the fandom, are we?’
Afterward, a flood of posts about Lu Wu appeared. Some were even from ascetics and monks, sharing their experiences with the milk tea.
They hadn’t planned on sharing, but now that Boss Lu herself had made an appearance, they decided to come clean too.
‘While you’re all still guessing, we’re already drinking it.’
This small step was a giant leap for their lives.
One World Communication descended into chaos, filled with the wails of her customers.
This completely extinguished any interest Lu Wu had in idly chatting with her fans online.
‘Forget it, forget it.’
‘I should just go back to lurking.’
While her customers were setting off for the Heavenly Buddha Temple, Lu Wu was busy creating new milk tea recipes.
For other products, Lu Wu might have struggled to come up with many variations, but milk tea was different. Countless new flavors came out every month, and her inspiration was overflowing.
Time to make Yangzhi Ganlu. Time to make Matcha Milk Pudding. And time to make one of Ruixue Bingka’s signature drinks—Peach Four Seasons Spring.
Whenever a new flavor was developed, the first to benefit was always Old Li from next door, along with the two little ones.
After getting another free haul, Uncle Li rubbed his round belly. Seeing the lamentations of the Bun Sect members, he decided to offer a little giveaway.
“Three cups of the new milk tea. First come, first served.”
The moment he posted it, the Bun Sect erupted.
“What? More new flavors? I’m still on the road! I haven’t even tried the last batch yet. She’s not going to stop selling them already, is she?”
“Boss Lu is releasing new stuff so quickly this time. Something feels off.”
“While you’re all busy doubting, I’m already one step ahead—I’ve entered the giveaway.”
“Tsk, three thousand people fighting over three cups of tea. The odds are terrible. Only an idiot would enter. Huh? How did you guys know I was an idiot? Well, since you’ve found me out, I won’t hide it from you. That’s right, I entered.”
…
Some people were burning incense and praying for luck, while others were creating their own little dramas.
The members of the sect were in a frenzy.
Uncle Li nodded as he watched the number of his followers grow day by day.
‘Not bad, not bad. The Bun Sect is growing stronger by the day. Sooner or later, it’ll be all over the Green Origin Realm.’
DING DONG, DING DONG.
The sound of private messages chimed. It was mostly old friends trying to get an in with Uncle Li.
In response, Uncle Li laid out various conditions, managing to trade a single cup of milk tea for a pile of nice things.
Lu Wu, who saw everything Uncle Li was up to, averted her eyes.
Lu Wu wasn’t an idiot. After deceiving herself for so long, she had to admit the truth. The Bun Sect had become a major sect on One World Communication, and it was inextricably linked with the name “Boss Lu.” Even she could figure it out by now.
‘I won’t look, I won’t look.’
‘As long as I don’t look, I don’t have to know that the Bun Sect has anything to do with me.’
‘I’m not interested in starting cliques.’
「The next day at the crack of dawn.」
A group of cultivators appeared at the foot of Demon Suppression Mountain. Even though their Spiritual Power was suppressed, they couldn’t hide their excitement.
Most of them were customers from nearby, waiting to ascend the mountain with Lu Wu.
“Boss, do we make our move?”
Behind a large tree at the foot of the mountain, three heads were stacked on top of one another. Second Brother stared worriedly at the dense crowd ahead.
‘This is different from what we heard.’
‘Weren’t we told there would be hardly any visitors at the Heavenly Buddha Temple this time of year? But a huge crowd showed up, and they’re all clumped together, chatting away like they know each other.’
“We’re doing it. We have to. Otherwise, we won’t get the final payment.”
The leader, perched at the very top of the stack, stared at the crowd, his gaze scanning the area for a less-populated path up the mountain.
The thought of the huge sum of Spirit Stones they would receive upon completing the mission made the leader’s heart race.
‘The three of us brothers will never have to beg again.’
“But Boss, Second Brother… can we really handle this many people?”
Third, at the very bottom of the pile, strained under the weight of the two heads above him and whispered, ‘Just as I thought, the youngest always gets picked on.’
“Third, you don’t need to worry about that. When the time comes, just charge in with us.”
The leader patted Third’s head, making a hollow THUMP THUMP sound.
“I told you, don’t call me Little Three!”
Third was very unhappy. He didn’t know who’d told him, but he’d heard that “Little Three” was an insult.
“I’m the boss, what I say goes. If you don’t like it, deal with it.”
After chattering amongst themselves for a while, the three brothers still couldn’t find an opportunity to make their move.
“Who are all these people waiting for? I keep hearing them mention some ‘Boss Lu.’ This Boss Lu must be a real big shot.”
Second Brother frowned. He had a bad feeling about this.
“Who cares.”
The leader was completely unconcerned.
Clearly, the trio had never heard of Lu Wu.
“Boss Lu is here!”
A familiar shout rang out, and the crowd erupted in cheers. The wave of sound startled Third. He lost his balance and collapsed to his knees, sending the other two tumbling down after him.
Their heads smacked against the ground. It hurt.
“Um, you may rise… wait, no, that’s not right. Please, get up. I know you all like my food, but there’s no need to perform such a grand gesture.”
Seeing them prostrating like that—such a great sacrifice from her customers—Lu Wu, who had just arrived, couldn’t possibly ignore them.
Her gaze fell gently on the three of them, and she reached out to help them up. In that instant, to the three brothers, Lu Wu herself seemed to be glowing.
The Sun: That’s right, I just clocked in.
