Chapter 169: Enchanting Demon Boss Lu
Chapter 169: Chapter 169: Enchanting Demon Boss Lu
"Are you a monk?"
Third stared blankly at Lu Wu, the question slipping out.
He’d only ever seen such a dazzling light on those monks. It made his eyes hurt and tear up.
"Huh?"
Lu Wu touched the thick, black hair on her head, then glanced down at her still somewhat curvaceous chest. She really wanted to ask where, exactly, she looked like a bald monk.
"What nonsense are you spouting?"
The leader slapped him on the back of the head, then turned to Lu Wu with an apologetic smile.
"Sorry about that. Our little brother doesn’t think before he speaks. Please, Bodhisattva, don’t take it to heart."
’Okay, so now I’ve gone from a monk to a Bodhisattva.’
"Actually, I’m human."
Lu Wu stood firm on her identity, though she took the three brothers’ eccentric behavior in stride.
’The day a normal person shows up among my customers will be the most abnormal thing of all.’
"See you later."
They were new faces, but she figured she’d get to know them after a few more visits. Assuming they were also customers, Lu Wu smiled at the three of them before sitting on her great-winged stall and ascending toward the peak of Demon Suppression Mountain, leaving the trio behind to stare at each other in bewilderment.
Once Lu Wu left, the other customers began their own ascent. They couldn’t use Spiritual Power, and they weren’t ascetics, so the mountain path was an arduous journey for many of them.
But the thought of the sweet milk tea waiting for them at the top filled them with motivation.
Charge!
The crowd surged forward. Many of them burst into a sprint right from the start, moving so fast you’d think they were fleeing for their lives.
The three brothers, however, remained at the foot of the mountain. By now, Lu Wu’s figure had long since vanished from sight.
"Boss, do we have other associates?"
Third scratched his head and asked. ’Could it be that the client didn’t think we could handle it and hired others to help?’
Otherwise, why would that lady say "see you later"?
It sounded like a password for a meet-up.
"I have no idea."
The leader was just as confused.
"Maybe the client wanted to play it safe. After all, this isn’t a simple job."
Second Brother said thoughtfully, stroking his chin before grabbing the other two by their shoulders.
"Stop thinking about it. Let’s head up. We’ve got plenty of time anyway. We can check out our supposed partner first."
The three reached an agreement and started climbing the mountain.
Meanwhile, Lu Wu, with her great wings, had left all the other customers in the dust, soaring ahead.
Thin clouds and mist drifted about. The majestic, ancient temple stood amidst the morning fog, looking like something not of this world.
The scenery was breathtaking.
But Lu Wu was completely pulled out of the moment.
This was because a group of monks was at the very top of the mountain path, craning their necks in anticipation. Leading them was Little Monk Tianhui, who was constantly looking down.
The moment Lu Wu appeared, Tianhui excitedly waved his arms to greet her. Behind him, the other monks raised a large, colorful cloth banner.
On the banner was written: "Warmly welcome Boss Lu to set up her stall at Heavenly Buddha Temple."
From a dozen meters away, Lu Wu stared at the "prosperity blossoms" patterned cotton fabric—the kind you’d only see on a grandmother’s bed—and felt the urge to turn right around and leave.
’Good grief, are they trying to be awkward on purpose?’
"Ms. Lu, you’re here!"
Tianhui scampered down the last few steps and grabbed Lu Wu’s hand.
"Ms. Lu, I’ve already swept the spot for your stall clean."
"And the other senior brothers in the temple asked me to tell you that they’ll come patronize your stall as soon as they’re done with morning prayers."
"Ms. Lu, I missed you so much!"
After drinking a few cups of milk tea yesterday, his mouth had felt sweet all day long.
Most importantly, his master had said that his heart had calmed down. Once the Sealing Demon Formation was taken down, he could formally begin practicing the Buddhist Secret Techniques.
He was overjoyed.
He had a faint feeling that this was all thanks to Ms. Lu.
Ms. Lu’s milk tea was magical.
As the little monk spoke, he tilted his head to the side. He knew Ms. Lu was itching to pat their heads, but was too embarrassed to touch his senior brothers’ bald ones.
Placing her hand on his perfectly round head and enjoying the unique sensation, Lu Wu gave it a gentle rub.
’The little monk is just too considerate. I can’t bring myself to run away now.’
"You’re such a sweet talker. You can be first in line later."
Lu Wu led the little monk by the hand toward the designated spot, her great-winged stall floating beside her as many monks gathered to watch.
Even as disciples of the Heavenly Buddha Temple, they would be unable to use Spiritual Power within the Array for the next half a month. By the same token, Spiritual Artifacts were also unusable.
These great wings, which ignored the Array’s suppression, made them very curious.
"They’re pretty soft."
Someone secretly reached out for a touch. The texture was quite nice.
Just as he was about to continue, the great wing suddenly flapped, slapping the monk straight into the temple wall.
THWACK!
The monk slid down the wall, clutching his rear in stunned silence.
’These wings can hit people? And it really hurts, too.’
Lu Wu blinked innocently.
She swore it wasn’t her who gave the order; this was the first she knew that the wings could hit people.
"Ahem, he didn’t mean it. He just thought you were so beautiful that he wanted to get a little closer. He wasn’t trying to be improper."
"Monks wouldn’t do something like that."
Lu Wu explained on the monk’s behalf to the great wings. The monk nodded vigorously. He was purely curious—a man of the cloth does not lie.
As if it understood her, the wing brushed its soft feathers against Lu Wu’s cheek, almost like it was trying to be cute.
’It’s quite sentient, huh?’
Lu Wu muttered to herself. ’System products really are top-quality.’
System: Heh, women!
Having learned from this cautionary tale, the others didn’t dare to get handsy. They could only look on in admiration.
Once the stall was secured in place, Lu Wu began organizing the ingredients for the day.
When the sign was hung up, the monks saw the new milk tea varieties and started chattering all at once with questions.
"Boss Lu, are these new milk teas? Are they as good as yesterday’s?"
Many of the monks hadn’t had their fill of yesterday’s milk teas yet.
You have to understand, during lunchtime at the Buddhist Temple yesterday, anyone without a cup of milk tea in hand was an object of ridicule.
Not even some of the more senior monks in the Buddhist Temple were spared.
Boss Lu the Enchanting Demon—her reputation was well-deserved.
"They each have their own merits."
Lu Wu explained that she had chosen classic milk tea recipes. Any drink that remained popular for a long time had its own unique appeal.
"Ah, I’m so excited."
The monks, buzzing with anticipation, began to form a line.
With Lu Wu’s personal appointment, the little monk basked in the jealous glares of his senior brothers and proudly took his place at the front of the line.
He soon became hesitant.
He wanted to try them all.
"Ms. Lu, can I have one of each?"
The little monk stared at Lu Wu with his big, clear eyes, and she found herself unable to say no.
’Anyway, those other customers are still climbing the mountain and won’t be here for a while. What’s the harm in letting these monks have a little extra?’
"You can."
She nodded. At the little monk’s request, the first drink she made was Yangzhi Ganlu.
I’m sure you, dear readers, are all familiar with Yangzhi Ganlu. Its main ingredients are mango, pomelo, sago, and coconut milk.
Lu Wu couldn’t find any pomelo, but there was a type of bitter pomelo in the Green Origin Realm that was also red and tasted similar.
The tiny sago pearls settled in the cold water, each one like a small, transparent pearl.
Peeling a pomelo is a skillful task, but Lu Wu had a Spell, so it was a piece of cake.
To guarantee authentic, high-quality ingredients, Lu Wu mashed the mango puree by hand on the spot.
