Chapter 695: Chapter 695: Father and Daughter’s First Meeting (Part 1)
Just as Vera Xavier was about to leave, the girl who seemed to be their leader called out to her, "Vera Xavier, wait a second!"
Vera Xavier turned to look at the girl, who said a bit sheepishly, "My name is Vivian Holt. Did you mean what you said earlier at Red Maple Woods?"
Vera Xavier hadn’t used any complex schemes to deal with Autumn Rhodes today, but her actions had been incredibly decisive. She radiated an immense confidence, daring to make a move even though she was fully aware of Autumn’s prominent family background.
They, on the other hand, were just ordinary students. A few even came from poor families who had pinned all their hopes on them. So, they weren’t nearly as carefree as they had pretended to be in front of Autumn Rhodes earlier. They were very worried about being expelled.
Vera Xavier knew she was asking if she would really step in to help them if Autumn Rhodes tried to bully them again.
She turned to look at them and saw that every single one of them was watching her, their faces full of anticipation.
Vera Xavier smiled. "I meant what I said. But if you go looking for trouble with Autumn Rhodes, my guarantee doesn’t apply."
"We wouldn’t dare provoke her," Vivian Holt said with a long sigh. "It’s just... after we beat her up like that today, she’s definitely not going to let this go."
"She won’t dare tell anyone what happened today. She’ll just have to swallow this loss," Vera Xavier said with complete conviction. "So don’t worry. If she tries to give you trouble in the future, you can come find me."
A smile touched the corners of Vivian Holt’s lips as she looked at her and said, "Thank you!"
"Honestly, I don’t get what you’re so afraid of," Vera Xavier said nonchalantly. "The country’s been opening up for over a decade now. Even with her family’s background, they wouldn’t dare do anything too extreme. There are so many of you—if each of you threw a single punch, you could flatten her."
"There’s more to it than that," Vivian Holt said with a sense of helplessness. "It’s not that we’re afraid of her, exactly. She’s just so treacherous. She’s schemed against us more than a few times. But with you here now, we have nothing to fear."
Vera Xavier looked at her, gave a little blink, and said, "I’ll let you in on a secret. I’m actually just an ordinary person. No powerful background whatsoever."
With that, she smiled and walked away, leaving Vivian Holt completely dumbfounded.
The other girls crowded around Vivian Holt. "What did she say?"
Vivian Holt was at a loss. But she knew Vera Xavier was right about one thing: they didn’t need to be afraid of Autumn Rhodes. What they needed now was to band together and fight back.
So, she cleared her throat and said, "Vera Xavier said she has a powerful background. If Autumn Rhodes tries to bully us again, we can all go to her for help."
"That’s fantastic!" the other girls exclaimed excitedly.
Seeing how excited they were, Vivian Holt was momentarily at a loss for words. Vera Xavier’s attitude and her way of doing things were unlike anyone she had ever met. ’She’s truly unpredictable,’ she thought.
For the next few days, the girls were constantly on edge. But to their astonishment, they discovered that Autumn Rhodes hadn’t breathed a single word about the incident. Vivian Holt recalled the absolute certainty on Vera Xavier’s face as she’d spoken, and her admiration for her grew.
Having suffered such a major loss, Autumn Rhodes knew she couldn’t do anything to Vera Xavier. That meant she would have to settle the entire score with Susan Caldwell.
