Vera Xavier felt that when it came to Brooke Mitchell, she had to use some finesse and strategy to improve their relationship before telling her that she and Nathaniel Nathan were already married.
Besides, she had just started her studies at Veridia University. If their marriage was announced, she felt she would definitely make headlines.
Nathaniel Nathan frowned and said, "If she gives you any trouble, just tell me. I’ll handle it."
Vera Xavier found his suggestion highly impractical. When it came to handling major affairs or executing missions, his competence was beyond doubt. But when it came to dealing with matters between women, she thought he’d better just stay out of it.
Putting everything else aside, just based on how he acted around her, she knew he was deeply in love with her only because she had lived two lives. Otherwise, with his attitude, she would have probably thought he hated her.

"Women?" Nathaniel Nathan gave her a wicked look. "Vera Xavier, I haven’t even slept with you yet. You have the nerve to call yourself a woman? At most, you’re just a girl."

’Knowing his personality,’ Vera Xavier thought, ’if I say no right now, he’ll probably just haul me home and turn that no into a yes.’
She had always known there was no reasoning with him on this topic. So, she went straight for her trump card. She brushed his hand away, lowered her head slightly, and said in a shy, coquettish tone, "You’re so mean. How is a girl supposed to answer a question like that...?"
In her two lifetimes, this was the first time she had ever spoken in such a tone. The moment the words were out, she couldn’t help but shiver.
Seeing her act, Nathaniel Nathan snorted. "Vera Xavier, could you possibly be any faker?"
Vera Xavier also felt that this style really wasn’t for her. She bit her lip lightly and said, "But I’m telling the truth!"
Nathaniel Nathan snorted coldly, expressing his displeasure. Vera Xavier wrapped her arms around him gently and said, "Can you smell what’s on me?"
"A pleasant scent." Nathaniel’s nose brushed lightly against the side of her face as he said quietly, "Is this your roundabout way of seducing me?"
Vera Xavier felt that she would never be on the same wavelength as him in this lifetime, at least not when it came to conversation. So she had to just say it plainly, "I had military training all day today. I was soaked in sweat several times, and I’m so tired I can barely keep my eyes open..."
Her real intention was to tell him that she was exhausted from a full day of military training and wanted him to let her go back and rest.
