Chapter 635: Going to See Mom (3)

Chapter 635: Chapter 635: Going to See Mom (3)

Among these people was one of Susan Caldwell’s roommates. The girl was rather naive and didn’t think much of it, casually remarking in front of Susan, "That Vera Xavier is amazing! I felt so much better after doing that routine yesterday!"

Except for the girl who had just spoken, all the other women in Susan Caldwell’s dorm had been punished. While Vera Xavier was teaching the students how to stretch and cool down, they were still being forced to stand at attention as punishment, so they didn’t get to learn the routine.

Seeing Susan Caldwell’s sour expression, Crystal Quinn immediately snapped at the girl, "What the hell does Vera Xavier know? Amazing? She’s just grandstanding!"

The girl saw things were getting tense and didn’t dare say another word. After changing her clothes, she hurried downstairs.

Susan Caldwell hadn’t done the exercises properly yesterday, so her soreness hadn’t eased at all. She said coolly, "That’s right. Just grandstanding."

But as she was going downstairs, she overheard a group of girls saying, "After doing that routine yesterday, my soreness has eased up a lot today."

"Me too. I heard she developed that routine herself."

"Really? That’s so impressive. What else would you expect from the genius who got full marks in every subject?"

Susan Caldwell was fuming inside as she heard all this praise for Vera Xavier. Crystal Quinn scoffed and said, "So what if she’s talented? She still has a terrible character. There’s already a lot of evidence that she’s fooling around with a bunch of guys at school!"

The girls who were talking nearby glanced over at them and stopped their discussion. Once Susan and Crystal were out of earshot, one of them asked, "Wasn’t one of those two named Susan Caldwell?"

"I think so. She’s the one who gave the speech on behalf of the freshmen."

"I recognize her too. On the first day of military training, she and Vera Xavier got into an argument in the cafeteria. They don’t seem to get along."

"I’ve heard a few completely different versions of what happened in the cafeteria. One version says Vera Xavier was hitting on a guy in public, which triggered his heart attack, and when Susan Caldwell tried to stop her, she got hit instead. Another version says a guy had a heart attack, Vera Xavier saved him with first aid, and Susan Caldwell just slandered her. Who knows what the real story is."

The girls gossiped about it for a bit, but that was all. After all, very few people had actually witnessed the incident themselves.

Because of this new development, people were also starting to forget how Vera Xavier had gotten them all punished with ten laps on the first day of training.

After all, Sheldon Caldwell had put the students through hell these past few days. They had basically figured out that their chief instructor was a goddamn psychopath. Even if it hadn’t been Vera Xavier’s fault that day, he would have found another reason to make them run ten laps anyway.

For that psychopathic chief instructor, dishing out a ten-lap run at the slightest provocation was as normal as eating and sleeping.

And now, thanks to Vera Xavier’s stretching and cool-down routine, they could at least relieve some of their pain.

Still, some people were unwilling to do the routine. After a full day of training, doing more exercises to stretch and cool down was exhausting in itself. The main issue was that relaxing the muscles caused a sore, swollen feeling that wasn’t very pleasant.

However, the students who skipped the routine could barely lift their arms and legs the next day, their entire bodies aching. Meanwhile, their classmates were full of energy, their movements precise. The sore ones, unable to perform the drills properly, were the ones who ended up getting punished.
