When they woke up the next morning, the few students who had practiced the stretching and muscle relaxation moves with Vera Xavier felt that their bodies weren’t as sore as the day before. They all found it miraculous, and some even thanked her when they saw her.
She just offered a small smile. To her, these movements were quite simple, and there was nothing worth keeping to herself.
While they felt relaxed all over, the students who had done ten laps of frog jumps the previous night felt like their legs were about to snap. When they woke up this morning, every last one of them was in agony!
Even walking was extremely difficult for them, let alone training.
Then it became a vicious cycle. The severe pain made them perform the training exercises poorly, which got them punished, and the punishment made their bodies hurt even more.
These academic prodigies from all over the country were in absolute misery, some even beginning to regret enrolling at Veridia University. Then they heard from the upperclassmen that military training at Veridia University had never been this brutal before, and their spirits sank even lower.
But now they had no other choice but to grit their teeth and endure.
There was only one exception among these people, and that was Susan Caldwell. Though her entire body was in agony, she pushed herself to endure, trying her best to perform every movement to standard.
Driven by her desire to outdo Vera Xavier, she was filled with motivation. It seemed she could endure any amount of hardship or exhaustion.
During a break that day, an instructor approached Vera Xavier and asked if she could teach the students her self-developed set of relaxation techniques. Vera had no issue with this and readily agreed. She had just one request: she wanted to be the one to teach Susan Caldwell’s platoon.
The instructor saw nothing wrong with her request and, of course, gladly agreed.
When the day’s training concluded that afternoon, the instructors first lavished praise on Vera Xavier’s set of stretching and relaxation techniques, and then on Vera herself. Afterward, they had her and the few girls who had already learned the routine teach all the other students how to stretch and relax their muscles.
The other students didn’t have any objections to this and all followed along with the movements.
Only Susan Caldwell was internally falling apart. ’Of all the platoons, why did Vera have to come teach mine?’
She strongly suspected Vera was doing it on purpose!
In fact, Vera was doing it on purpose. Susan Caldwell was always acting so high and mighty in front of her, wasn’t she? She had stolen the chance to speak on stage before. Well, if she was so capable, she could go ahead and try to steal this opportunity too!
Susan Caldwell would have loved to snatch the opportunity, but the problem was, she didn’t know how!
Because Vera selflessly taught everyone the stretches and relaxation techniques, the instructors viewed her actions as exceptionally generous.
They knew that developing a routine of stretches and relaxation techniques that was so in tune with the body’s muscles and bones was no easy feat. For her to share it so openly, without holding anything back, was an act that perfectly embodied the military’s spirit of selfless dedication.
Susan Caldwell desperately did not want to learn from Vera, but with all the instructors watching, she no longer dared to demand special treatment. She could only go through the motions, following Vera’s series of movements with extreme reluctance.
And so, the next day, all the students who had diligently followed Vera’s routine discovered, to their amazement, that their bodies weren’t nearly as sore. They still ached, but it was a huge improvement over the day before.
