"Vera Xavier," the instructor replied.
Sheldon Caldwell paused for a moment. "Vera Xavier?"
The instructor nodded. Sheldon Caldwell curled his lip slightly. ’Heh! She really is everywhere!’
The matter was settled. After the instructors left, Sheldon Caldwell decided this was a great opportunity to annoy Nathaniel Nathan, so he gave him a call. "Some people are just so pathetic. They have a girlfriend, and their girlfriend even came to Veridia, but they can’t even see her. It’s just so sad!"
"Speak plainly," Nathaniel Nathan said in a low voice.
Sheldon Caldwell said cheerfully, "In plain English? You can’t see your girlfriend, but I can see her every day. Let me tell you, that girlfriend of yours—pale skin, beautiful face, long legs—you drop her in a crowd and all eyes are on her. Tsk tsk, what a knockout. Here on campus, it doesn’t matter if you’re a student or a teacher; no one can walk away once they’ve seen her!"
If Vera Xavier heard him say that, she’d probably punch him.
Nathaniel Nathan’s eyes narrowed. He could tell this idiot, Sheldon Caldwell, was deliberately trying to piss him off today. So, he said slowly, "It’s fine. You all can look, but you can’t touch."
The implication was that Vera was his and his alone, and only he was allowed to "touch."
Sheldon Caldwell felt a pang of jealousy. ’He’s flaunting his relationship even now? Have you no decency!’
He decided to play his trump card. "I wouldn’t be so sure. Why don’t you let me borrow your girlfriend for a few days!"
He hung up the phone right after he said it, terrified that if he kept talking, Nathaniel Nathan would drive over to Veridia University and beat him up.
Nathaniel Nathan had always known Sheldon was a smart-mouth, but he’d still underestimated the depths of his shamelessness.
’That idiot probably still doesn’t know he’s Vera Xavier’s biological brother. Spouting such vile words... I could just crush him this very minute! Once Vera and Sheldon’s blood relationship is confirmed, he’ll probably want to strangle himself!’
Nathaniel Nathan knew that nothing could ever happen between Sheldon Caldwell and Vera Xavier.
But even so, hearing Sheldon’s words still pissed him off. ’My girl is already in Veridia, and I can’t even get a taste. What kind of bullshit is this!’
Nathaniel Nathan realized he missed Vera Xavier. A lot. He wanted to see her right now, without another minute of delay.
He’d never been the type to make himself suffer, so he immediately changed into casual clothes, got in his car, and left the office.
Because they had to practice the series of drills, Vera Xavier and the other girls were a little late for dinner. Today, they were no longer allowed to leave campus to eat, so they could only go to the cafeteria.
As Vera Xavier went inside, a few girls happened to be coming out. She recognized the one in the lead from the day before—the one who had defended Susan Caldwell. She seemed to be Susan’s roommate, and her name was apparently Crystal Quinn.
Upon seeing Vera Xavier, Crystal Quinn said with a sneer, "Well, if it isn’t the girl who tried and failed to seduce a guy in public yesterday. You’ve got some nerve! How dare you still show your face in the cafeteria. If I were you, after being exposed like that, I’d have died of humiliation."
Vera Xavier thought, ’With an IQ like that, I have no idea how she even got into Veridia University. She’s single-handedly dragging down the school’s average.’
So, Vera Xavier replied coolly, "That’s because you’re an idiot."
With that, she walked inside.
