Chapter 622: Chapter 622: Lovesickness Deep to the Bone (Part 2)
Crystal Quinn was instantly furious. "Vera Xavier, who are you calling stupid?"
"Well, whoever answered the call, of course! Oh, wait, didn’t you just answer? Wow, you’re surprisingly self-aware! Impressive, very impressive!" Vera Xavier replied with a wide grin. The moment she finished, Fiona Wright couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Even Crystal Quinn’s companions had a hint of amusement in their eyes as they looked at her. She immediately flew into a rage, stormed right up to Vera Xavier, and snarled, "Say that again!"
Vera Xavier casually touched her nose, then gave Crystal Quinn a slow look-over before saying in a deadpan voice, "Oh, so you’re the one who just admitted to being stupid? You know, you’re really impressive. Your IQ might not be very high, but you have incredible self-awareness. You even take the initiative to admit your own weaknesses. That’s an excellent habit, truly praiseworthy."
Fiona Wright’s lips twitched. She had witnessed Vera Xavier’s sharp tongue just yesterday. When Vera decided to verbally tear someone down, no one else stood a chance. She could shut a person down in seconds.
And the most impressive part was, she could do it all without uttering a single curse word.
Crystal Quinn’s face turned beet red with rage. She raised her hand and swung at Vera Xavier.
’I’m a civilized person,’ Vera thought. ’I can’t stoop to the level of someone with a negative IQ.’
So, Vera Xavier effortlessly caught the incoming slap by the wrist. She smiled and said, "Let me give you a piece of advice. Before you try to fight someone, you should size up your own strength against your opponent’s. Only pick fights you know you can win. It’s best not to start a fight you can’t, because you’ll only be the one who gets hurt."
As she finished speaking, she gave Crystal’s wrist a sharp twist, and Crystal immediately cried out in pain.
Vera Xavier didn’t go too hard on Crystal Quinn. After one sharp twist, she let go, sighed, and said, "Tell me, why are you so eager to get your butt kicked? Can’t you just enjoy your meal in peace?"
Her arm was throbbing with pain. Crystal Quinn yelled, "Vera Xavier, don’t get so cocky! Susan will get you for this!"
She stormed off in a huff, only to hear Vera Xavier’s voice call out after her, "And give Susan Caldwell a message for me. Tell her to come up with some new tricks next time she comes after me. She may not be tired of the same old routine, but I sure am."
Crystal Quinn ground her teeth and stalked off.
Vera Xavier casually raised an eyebrow, a faint chill flickering in her eyes.
Fiona Wright tugged at her sleeve. "Vera..."
"Let’s go eat," Vera Xavier cut her off with a smile. "If we wait any longer, the cafeteria staff will start putting all the food away."
Fiona Wright gave her a worried look, but nodded.
Vera Xavier truly didn’t pay Crystal Quinn’s provocation any mind. Something like this wasn’t enough to affect her mood.
Watching all this unfold, Laura White frowned slightly. She wasn’t sure if she could have handled that situation better than Vera had. Then, she was once again dismayed to realize that she was simply no match for Vera Xavier.
She was finally realizing that Vera Xavier was completely different from the average student. Unprovoked, she was modest and polite, gentle and kind. But once provoked, her ferocity went off the charts in a flash, and she would crush her opponents mentally and physically.
The girls, all eighteen or nineteen, were lively and cheerful. Even though a full day of military training had left every one of them exhausted, the moment they relaxed, they were brimming with energy again. Even just eating a meal was cause for nonstop, chirpy chatter.
