A veteran apothecary had taught her this routine back when she ran a pharmaceutical factory in her past life. However, he had only taught her the basics. She had since made a series of adjustments, so the full routine was quite different from the original—and far more effective.
So, it wasn’t a total lie to say she’d developed it herself.
The drill instructor, however, stared at her as if she were some kind of monster. ’Are all university students this incredible these days?’ he thought.
He had actually noticed Vera Xavier for a while now. It was hard not to—she was stunningly beautiful, and her form was perfect. She still lacked a bit of power, but her execution was already amazing.
He cleared his throat and said, "Got it."
He walked away as soon as he said it. Vera found his behavior a bit strange, but she couldn’t be bothered to think about it.
What Vera didn’t know was that after the drill instructor left, he immediately scurried over to find Sheldon Caldwell. He recounted what had just happened and then remarked, "Deputy General Manager, do you think the students who get into Veridia University just have higher IQs than the rest of us?"
Sheldon Caldwell, of course, disagreed. He gave a slight sneer. "I think the ones who get into the military academies are the truly impressive ones. These Veridia University students are all a bunch of weaklings. I could send them flying with a single punch."
He immediately felt that remark lacked the proper gravitas and was unbecoming of his position as a deputy general manager, so he quickly added, "What I mean is, given the same training, military academy cadets would wipe the floor with these university students after a month."
The instructor chuckled. "That’s a given. The training intensity at the academies is way higher than this."
"Why don’t we have them compete against the military academy cadets when this training is over?" another instructor chimed in with a mischievous idea.
You couldn’t really blame him for the suggestion. Their assignment to train the students at Veridia University had made them a laughingstock among the other branch offices. The word was that ever since Nathaniel Nathan had arrived, their branch had gone from being the best to being the one that only trains weaklings. The taunts were driving them crazy.
The one talking the most smack was another deputy general manager—the one assigned to train a military academy.
In fact, there were annual competitions and showcases between institutions during the military training period. It was just that military academies competed against other military academies, and regular universities competed against other regular universities.
Sheldon Caldwell’s eyes lit up. "That’s a great idea! I’ll bring it up with the Chairman. That son of a bitch Forrest Alden looks down on us? Fine. We won’t just crush them in the field exercises—the students we train are going to crush their cadets, too!"
Hearing this, the drill instructors were instantly fired up. They all started brainstorming, plotting how to crank up the intensity and difficulty. After all, the training regimen at a military academy was nearly on par with the actual training for new recruits. ’Could a bunch of weaklings from Veridia University really be a match for them?’
It was a daunting thought.
The instructor in charge of Vera’s group spoke up. "We could teach everyone that girl’s method for stretching and relaxing the muscles. That would help these students’ bodies adapt to a higher intensity training pace much faster."
Sheldon thought that sounded promising. "What’s the girl’s name?" he asked.
