Chapter 604: Chapter 604: You’re Sick (2)
Vera Xavier narrowed her eyes slightly. She turned her head and saw Autumn Rhodes parting the crowd and slowly walking over.
To be precise, Vera Xavier and Autumn Rhodes had no bad blood before the semester began. The so-called conflict on registration day was entirely Autumn’s doing. Vera had only taught her a little lesson.
To Vera, the incident was a trivial matter. It was also a veiled warning to Autumn Rhodes not to mess with her, as she wasn’t someone to be trifled with.
But now, it seemed this Autumn Rhodes was incredibly petty and had decided to hold a grudge over it.
The corners of Autumn Rhodes’s mouth lifted slightly. She was a second-year student, and on top of her outstanding looks and good grades, she was also the vice president of the student council. She was quite popular at school.
She announced loudly, "On the very first day of registration, Vera Xavier was getting tangled up with a man she claimed was from her hometown."
Vera Xavier knew she was talking about the incident with Wesley Kane. She raised an eyebrow slightly. Although many people had seen her deal with Wesley Kane that day, it was clear some hadn’t taken it seriously.
But with Autumn being a second-year student with considerable clout on campus, her account of a past event carried a different weight than Susan Caldwell’s words.
When Susan Caldwell saw that reinforcements had arrived, she immediately perked up and shouted, "See? I told you Vera Xavier has poor character! So you really can’t blame me for suspecting her."
Shirley Ewing and Fiona Wright exchanged a look. Neither of them was very clear about the incident Autumn Rhodes was talking about, so they both looked toward Vera Xavier. Of course, they both trusted Vera’s character.
Vera Xavier looked at Autumn Rhodes. "Why don’t you tell everyone the whole story of what happened that day?"
"What I said is the truth." Autumn Rhodes lifted her chin slightly. "He said you were indeed engaged to him back in your hometown. You were a vain social climber, so you dumped him for someone better. He wasn’t acting with you that day; you were the one framing him! To cover up your own wicked deeds, you even gave him a savage beating!"
Autumn Rhodes had felt something was off that day. At the time, she couldn’t quite put her finger on it, but she intensely disliked Vera Xavier, so she had waited outside the restroom.
After Wesley Kane finally came out, she went and asked him for the full story. And since Wesley Kane hated Vera Xavier to the bone, he naturally embellished the story of their conflict.
Therefore, in Autumn Rhodes’s mind, Vera Xavier was a person of extremely despicable character. Upon hearing the news, she was actually secretly delighted, feeling that no matter what, she couldn’t let Vera steal her Damian Rhodes away.
Vera Xavier actually laughed when she heard what Autumn Rhodes said. "Wesley Kane told you that, didn’t he?"
"That’s right!" Autumn Rhodes said loudly. "Vera Xavier, what do you have to say for yourself now?"
Vera shrugged. "There’s really nothing for me to say about it."
Autumn Rhodes was feeling smug, ready to thoroughly humiliate Vera. However, before she could say a word, she heard Vera looking at her with pity and saying, "You actually believed what a performing arts student told you? Your intelligence is a bit concerning. He’s such a big, tall guy. If he wasn’t cooperating, how could a weak little girl like me possibly give him a beating?"
Autumn Rhodes froze for a moment. ’Now that Vera put it that way, it actually made some sense!’
