Chapter 590: Chapter 590: Training Begins (6)
After Briarwood University concluded, they began assigning drill instructors to the freshmen. Coincidentally enough, Vera Xavier saw Sheldon Caldwell. Of course, he couldn’t possibly be her instructor; in fact, he was the chief drill instructor for the entire military training.
Vera Xavier blinked. ’What a small world.’
When she took a closer look, she saw the bruises on the corners of his eyes and mouth. Her lips twitched. ’Nathaniel Nathan really didn’t hold back!’
The moment she saw Sheldon Caldwell, he saw her too. The reason he could spot her in the crowd at a glance was simple: she was just that stunning.
Even though all the girls wore the same uniform for the military training, she stood out effortlessly. Tall and slender, with porcelain skin and radiant features, she somehow made the uniform look like it was haute couture.
Sheldon Caldwell snorted softly, thinking to himself, ’All the good cabbages get eaten by pigs.’
In this analogy, the "good cabbage" was Vera Xavier, and the "pig" was Nathaniel Nathan.
He subtly raised an eyebrow, a devilish smile playing on his lips. His expression seemed to say, ’Well now, you’ve finally fallen into my hands. Just you watch how I’m going to deal with you!’
Vera Xavier almost laughed when she saw his expression. ’He can’t be planning to get even through me, can he?’
As a drill instructor, it wouldn’t be difficult for him to give a student a hard time.
However, Vera had spent time with him in Crestfall and had a fair understanding of his character. Even though he didn’t yet know she was his own sister and was plotting to use her to get even, she knew that at his core, he was an upright soldier. Therefore, she wasn’t worried.
However, she did have one bad premonition: with him in charge, this semester’s military training was likely to become the most difficult in the history of Veridia University.
Vera, for her part, was quite calm about it. A more difficult training regimen wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. ’I’ll just treat it as a good workout!’
While she was calm, the girls around her were anything but. The girl to her left exclaimed excitedly, "Wow, that instructor is so handsome!"
Her words were immediately echoed by another girl. "Yeah, he’s seriously handsome! Even with those bruises on his mouth and eyes, you can’t hide how good-looking he is!"
"Did he just make eyes at me?"
"You’re imagining things! He was obviously looking at me!"
"You’re all imagining things." The one who said this was Laura White, standing to Vera’s right. "Take a look at his shoulder insignia. That’s a mark of his position. In a security company, that insignia would make him a vice general manager. You really think he’d be interested in any of you?"
Sheldon Caldwell looked to be only in his early twenties. To reach a rank equivalent to a vice general manager at that age, one either had to be exceptionally capable or come from a powerful family.
While the girls who got into Veridia University were outstanding, they were still nothing compared to a man of his standing. It was unlikely any of them would be able to catch his eye.
Although Laura White’s words were harsh, they were the truth, and the other girls looked a little dejected.
Vera Xavier glanced at Sheldon Caldwell. He was about six-foot-one, his frame tall and ramrod-straight. With a cold expression on his face, he projected a sharp, imposing aura—very different from when she’d met him in Crestfall.
His looks were indeed quite striking; the bruises on his mouth and eyes couldn’t hide his handsome features. To the new freshmen, he was undoubtedly charming, but she still felt he fell a little short compared to Nathaniel Nathan.
Sheldon Caldwell had stopped walking. He pointed his finger at Vera and the girls who had just been talking. "You, you, you, and you," he commanded. "Fall out!"
