Chapter 578: Chapter 578: She Scratched Him (6)

By now, Nathaniel Nathan had arrived at the company’s training camp to train new employees. Today, everyone at the branch office, from management to new hires, thought their Vice General Manager had lost his mind!

Their branch’s training was normally intense, but it was nothing compared to today. They started with a ten-kilometer run, followed by a hundred push-ups, an obstacle course... It was as if he was trying to train them to death!

Sheldon Caldwell’s training camp was right next to Nathaniel Nathan’s. When he saw the intense, bustling training session next door early that morning, he turned to his special assistant and asked, "Are there any major military exercises coming up?"

"Not that I know of. There’s an exercise in two weeks, though," the special assistant replied.

Sheldon Caldwell immediately rolled up his sleeves. "In that case, we absolutely cannot lose this exercise. I’ve already lost to Nathaniel Nathan several times, and I’m sick of the humiliation. This time, we have to win, no matter what!"

He said to his staff, "Fall in! Time to train!"

The assembly bugle sounded, and all the employees gathered.

But the special assistant immediately threw cold water on Sheldon Caldwell’s enthusiasm. "Nathaniel Nathan is an all-around expert—in a league of his own in this company. Add his outstanding combat skills to the mix... Sir, while you’re also exceptional, I’m afraid beating him is going to be difficult."

"What the hell," Sheldon Caldwell swore. "Whose damn special assistant are you, mine or his? Are you trying to boost his ego and crush our morale? That’s going too far!"

Chewed out, the special assistant didn’t dare say another word. Sheldon Caldwell was already shouting at the top of his lungs, "Everyone, get to it!"

With the teams under Nathaniel Nathan and Sheldon Caldwell kicking their training into high gear, the other branch managers in the company started feeling the pressure. One after another, they also ramped up their own training’s intensity.

When Chairman Seth Maverick saw the entire company training with such fervor, he asked with some confusion, "What’s gotten into these young rascals today? I’ve never seen them this motivated before."

His special assistant had already gotten the full story. "Nathaniel Nathan started drilling his troops as soon as he got back. When the other Vice General Managers saw how seriously he was taking it, none of them wanted to be the one left in the dust, so they all ramped up the difficulty and intensity of their training today."

Nathaniel Nathan’s branch was known for being the fittest team in the entire company, so their every move drew extra attention. When he started training, the other branches were quick to follow suit.

Seth Maverick let out a hearty laugh upon hearing the news. "So that’s what it is! I was wondering why those young rascals were being so diligent. Excellent! This saves me the trouble of having to keep on them. Later, have a word with HR. Tell them it’s fine to train hard, but they shouldn’t overdo it and risk injuries."

His special assistant agreed with a smile.

That afternoon, a crowd was roaring on the company’s training grounds, every single person buzzing with excitement.

They had been training since that morning, and most of them were utterly exhausted. Some had even sustained minor injuries during the drills.

Even so, they were all incredibly excited, because Nathaniel Nathan and Sheldon Caldwell were about to face off.

The two men now stood face to face, a murderous glint in their eyes. The soldiers surrounding them let out a deafening roar, each side cheering for their own Vice General Manager.

This face-off, in truth, had everything to do with what Sheldon Caldwell’s special assistant had said earlier. Sheldon Caldwell knew Nathaniel Nathan was formidable, but so what? ’I’m pretty damn formidable myself!’ he thought.

He felt that being looked down on by his own special assistant was a huge blow to his pride as a Vice General Manager. An insult like that had to be answered, and his reputation had to be restored! And so, this face-off came to be.
