Chapter 521: Chapter 521: A Solid Face-slap (3)
Sheldon Caldwell’s interest was immediately piqued. He quickly asked Nathaniel Nathan, "So you’re saying she got into a university in Veridia? Which one? It’s not easy to get into college these days, and Veridia’s universities are even tougher. You’ve got pretty good taste!"
There were many universities in Veridia, but only one could be called *the* Veridia University. Although Sheldon Caldwell thought Vera Xavier was impressive, he didn’t believe she could get into Veridia University. It was simply too difficult.
Hearing this, Nathaniel Nathan lost all desire to continue the conversation. ’His woman, if she was going to college, would of course go to the best one in the country. How could it be just some ordinary school?’ He couldn’t even be bothered to explain.
But Sheldon Caldwell continued, "Hey, let me tell you, my sister got into Veridia University this time. What do you think? Impressive, right?"
Nathaniel Nathan’s expression turned a little colder when he heard that. Sheldon, however, continued, almost as if talking to himself, "But my mom isn’t happy that my sister got into Veridia University. She thinks my sister should come work at the company for a few years to temper her personality. My dad has spoiled her rotten over the years, made her too delicate."
"Is your sister’s name Susan Caldwell?" Nathaniel Nathan asked coldly.
"Yeah, how did you know?" A flicker of curiosity appeared in Sheldon Caldwell’s eyes. "Don’t tell me you were so concerned about me that you started looking into my family?"
The look in Nathaniel Nathan’s eyes grew even colder, but Sheldon didn’t seem to mind. He said with a grin, "My sister really is outstanding, though. After all, Veridia University is so hard to get into. Did you know? She ranked first in all of Veridia for the college entrance exam this time. I heard she might have even broken the previous record set by Veridia’s top scorer."
"Is that so?" Nathaniel Nathan asked Sheldon Caldwell. "Did she get a perfect score in every subject?"
"A perfect score in every subject? No way!" Sheldon Caldwell said with a laugh. "Putting aside everything else, even for the Chinese and English essays, some psycho teachers will always find a reason to dock a point or two. By the way, you seem awfully interested in my sister. You don’t have a thing for her, do you?"
Nathaniel Nathan said icily, "Please don’t insult my taste."
The remark was exceptionally venomous, but Sheldon Caldwell knew his friend’s usual temperament and didn’t take offense. Instead, he laughed and said, "My sister is so outstanding, how could she possibly insult your taste? But you already have Vera, so don’t even think about going after my sister. You know, if you had known earlier that I had such an amazing sister and tried to pursue her, I might have reluctantly given you a chance."
"First you insult my taste, and now you’re questioning my intelligence. Sheldon Caldwell, you’d better scram before I risk violating company policy just to beat the crap out of you," Nathaniel Nathan said, his face an icy mask.
The last time he’d had someone send Susan Caldwell’s file to Winter Sullivan, he’d also looked into the Caldwell Family’s situation. That’s when he found out that the Sheldon Caldwell he knew was actually Winter Sullivan’s son and Susan Caldwell’s older brother.
All he could say was, it’s a small world.
Sheldon Caldwell was a bit baffled by Nathaniel Nathan’s sudden mood swing. ’I didn’t even say anything wrong. Nathaniel is just too fickle.’
He had just returned from a mission, and the chairman had given him a two-day leave to rest. Since he had nothing else to do, he decided to go home for a visit.
When he got home, Julian Caldwell was reading the newspaper, while Susan Caldwell was obediently peeling an apple for him. Winter Sullivan was on the phone; it seemed to be a call from the lab, with someone asking her to verify some data.
