The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master

Chapter 494: His Care (8)

Chapter 494: Chapter 494: His Care (8)

Nathaniel Nathan looked incredibly young. A colonel this young either had to have a powerful family background or possess extraordinary abilities.

Although they hadn’t seen Nathaniel Nathan in action, there were virtually no signs of a struggle in the entire car. This meant that when he single-handedly took on over a dozen bandits, he had basically delivered a one-hit KO to each of them.

To take out so many people, each with a one-hit KO, was in itself an almost monstrous display of power.

So the chief said sternly, "Focus on the job at hand. What’s the point of asking so many questions?"

After he spoke, he couldn’t help but add, "It’s a good thing he was on the train. Otherwise, I’m afraid we’d be looking at a much more serious crime in this car."

It was only after boarding that they discovered several railway police officers had been knocked unconscious, tied up, and thrown into the crew’s quarters. This meant the bandits had some skill, but that little bit of skill was nothing in the face of Nathaniel Nathan.

The chief silently scorned the bandits. ’They really picked the wrong day for this heist,’ he thought. ’After all, you don’t just run into someone like Nathaniel Nathan on a normal day.’

Once the police had finished their work, they all disembarked. The chief thanked Nathaniel Nathan once more before gathering his team and leaving the train.

The train continued on its journey, but the way everyone in the car looked at Nathaniel Nathan was now completely different.

However, given his incredible combat prowess from a moment ago, his cold demeanor, and his overwhelming aura, no one dared to approach him to talk. People would simply thank him as they passed, but he remained stone-faced throughout, saying nothing in return.

The most dejected person in the car at that moment was Shane Caldwell. He had always known Nathaniel Nathan was formidable, but he used to think that with enough hard work, he still had a chance to catch up.

But now he realized that he could likely spend his entire life trying and never achieve that level of skill!

He felt utterly disheartened.

Vera Xavier was feeling dejected as well. She realized that given the way Nathaniel Nathan fought, she’d never be able to learn it—not if he taught her once, not even if he taught her a hundred times!

Nathaniel Nathan, as if reading her mind, said calmly, "It’s perfectly normal that you can’t learn it. You’re too dumb."

Vera Xavier, not feeling the least bit comforted, shot him a fierce glare.

He, however, seemed to be in a rather good mood and added, "It’s fine. Girls are more likable when they’re a little dumb."

This time, not only was Vera not comforted, she felt like she had just taken a critical hit. She sat there sulking, pointedly ignoring him.

Nathaniel found her reaction rather amusing. ’This girl’s getting bolder,’ he thought. ’Now she even dares to give me the silent treatment.’

In a rare display of good humor, he tried to placate her. "I’ve told you before, I’ll handle the fighting. You don’t need to get your hands dirty with trivial things like this. So it doesn’t matter that you can’t learn, and it doesn’t matter that you’re a little dumb."

’He should really just stop trying to placate me,’ Vera thought. ’The more he tries, the angrier I get!’

She decided to change the subject. Looking at him, she asked, "Of all those men earlier, why were you so much harder on the last one?"

"Simple. That bastard was going to touch you. He didn’t just curse at you, he also spewed a lot of filth." Nathaniel’s answers were always completely unexpected.

Vera had thought of several reasons why he might have been so ruthless, but she had never, ever considered that this would be the one!
