Chapter 199: The Big Guy
Lin Jingjing watched their mechas form a barrier in front of her, listening to their words of concern. She was touched. ‘I can’t believe they rushed over to protect me.’
“Thank you…” Lin Jingjing said softly, the feeling of gratitude passing as her entire demeanor sharpened.
Standing on Eagle’s back, she unleashed her spiritual power, and a massive Magic Image materialized behind her.
Spiritual power could manifest imagined things into reality. Back on B6 Star, when she faced those giant monsters, Lin Jingjing had wondered what would happen if she used her spiritual power to create them herself.
‘Would they be powerful in a real fight?’
Today, she was finally doing what she had always wanted to.
Lin Jingjing had conjured a colossal version of herself.
The sun was blotted out by the giant Magic Image, causing many soldiers to look up.
When they did, they saw a colossal Lin Jingjing, radiating a golden light.
“Is that Captain Lin?” someone asked, staring skyward.
After getting a clear look at the Magic Image, they cheered, “It is Captain Lin!”
“It’s huge! How did Captain Lin do that?!”
“Captain Lin is so incredible! Is there anything she can’t accomplish?!”
“Captain Lin is fighting so hard! We have to give it our all, too! We can’t let her down!” everyone yelled.
Lin Jingjing had galvanized everyone.
They felt a renewed surge of motivation to rescue people and kill monsters.
Lin Jingjing’s tightly shut eyes slowly opened. At that moment, her irises glowed gold.
As she opened her eyes, the giant Magic Image behind her did the same.
“All of you, move. I’ll kill them,” Lin Jingjing said slowly, looking at the mechas in front of her.
Hearing this, the mechas blocking her path quickly moved aside.
The flying monsters had halted their advance. They stared at Lin Jingjing and the Magic Image behind her from a short distance away.
A flicker of confusion crossed their grayish-green faces, but after one of them let out a shriek, the creatures’ resolve hardened.
They formed into a fist-like formation and charged toward Lin Jingjing. In response, Lin Jingjing raised her hand.
The Magic Image behind her mirrored the motion, extending its own hand.
With its hand open, the Magic Image waited. As the swarm of flying monsters closed in, Lin Jingjing clenched her fist. Countless monsters were crushed to death in the Magic Image’s massive hand.
Innumerable corpses rained down from the sky.
Blood rained down like water, drenching those on the ground who couldn’t get away in time.
Many who witnessed this were stunned into silence. ‘Is she really that powerful?’
Beisang paused, his eyes fixed on Lin Jingjing, who stood atop Eagle.
In the mere half-year since she had left the First Corps, Lin Jingjing’s spiritual power had grown even stronger.
‘No wonder she could beat Alderick into a medical pod so effortlessly in the arena. As her spiritual power leveled up, every aspect of her abilities has improved significantly.’
Lin Jingjing was not someone to be underestimated.
Who even remembered that her Spiritual Power Level was once Grade D? And that it later dropped even further, from Grade D to Grade F.
Grade F spiritual power was practically nonexistent.
But for Lin Jingjing, the regression of her Spiritual Power Level had paradoxically signaled an increase in her actual spiritual power.
With that single grasp, Lin Jingjing had annihilated more than half of the flying monsters.
The flying monsters that escaped being crushed to death stared at the colossal Magic Image before them, then immediately flapped their wings and fled in the other direction.
How could Lin Jingjing let them go? ‘Didn’t you all have fun chasing me just now?’
Now, the roles were reversed. Lin Jingjing gave chase.
“Eagle, after them!” Lin Jingjing shouted. “Stay close!”
[Yes, Master!]
Eagle grew excited, flapping its wings rapidly and charging in the direction the swarm of monsters was fleeing.
Whenever they got close, Lin Jingjing would clap her hands as if swatting mosquitoes. The Magic Image behind her would mimic the motion, clapping the flying monsters out of the sky.
The flying monsters scattered in every direction, hunted by Lin Jingjing. Seizing the opportunity, the mecha squadron charged in, cutting down the stragglers with their massive mecha blades.
Perched atop a distant skyscraper, Ni Sang wore a dark red slip dress with a black shawl draped over her shoulders. She had on high heels and a wide-brimmed hat.
The wind gusted, lifting her black shawl and whipping her loose, red hair about her face.
She held her hat in place with one hand, her gaze fixed on Lin Jingjing’s Magic Image.
Her expression was grim.
“This woman can’t be left alive. She will interfere with the Young Master’s plan,” Ni Sang said softly.
The hulking figure standing behind her grunted in assent.
This brute was immense, easily over two and a half meters tall. His skin was a morbid, grayish-green, like that of a corpse.
His mouth was covered by an iron mask studded with several spikes.
A single glance confirmed he was not human.
Ni Sang raised a hand. The monster immediately dropped to its hands and knees, lowering itself completely and nuzzling its head against her hand.
It rubbed against her again and again, like a puppy.
Ni Sang gently stroked its head and chuckled. “Go pay her a visit.”
“Killing her would be ideal.”
“Hnnngh…” With a grunt, the brute stood up, then leaped, clearing the gap from their rooftop to the one opposite in a single bound.
Ni Sang raised a hand and idly twirled a lock of her hair, a smile playing in her eyes.
‘My pet is very strong. I wonder who will win—Lin Jingjing, or my pet?’
As she mused, Ni Sang didn’t stand still. She took a few steps, then leaped gracefully across to the opposite rooftop as well.
As Lin Jingjing continued her pursuit, an enormous chunk of iron was suddenly hurled at her from an unknown direction.
“Eagle, dodge!” Lin Jingjing yelled frantically.
But Eagle was flying too fast, and the object had been thrown without a sound.
It was impossible for Eagle to evade in time.
The block of iron loomed closer. Lin Jingjing instantly leaped off Eagle, recalling it into her Spiritual World with lightning speed.
She then immediately pulled a Hoverboard from her Space Ring, only breathing a sigh of relief once she was standing firmly on it.
The massive piece of iron crashed into the building opposite them.
Lin Jingjing scanned her surroundings, her eyes finally landing on the hulking brute on a nearby skyscraper’s roof.
A large section of the iron railing in front of him was missing.
One high above, the other below, their gazes met.
The brute reached out, tore off another piece of the railing with a powerful tug, and hurled it straight at Lin Jingjing.
Lin Jingjing dodged again. After throwing the piece of railing, the brute ran to another rooftop to continue his assault.
“Damn it, where did this oaf come from? He’s interrupting my mosquito swatting!” Lin Jingjing cursed. Her dodging speed was already so fast it left afterimages.
