Chapter 200: Crushed
As she sped up, the big brute matched her pace.
The two went back and forth for several rounds.
Finally, Lin Jingjing’s taunting enraged the brute. It turned toward her and let out a tremendous roar.
After roaring, the brute stopped chasing Lin Jingjing and began to mutate.
Lin Jingjing stopped dodging and fixed her gaze on the creature.
She watched as the brute writhed. After a long struggle, a pair of wings slowly sprouted from its back.
The wings were covered in slime, which dripped from them in gooey streams. The sight made Lin Jingjing sick to her stomach.
‘What kind of monster is this? It’s self-aware and can even sprout wings.’
The brute flapped its wings a few times, slinging the viscous fluid to the ground.
It spread its wings and charged at Lin Jingjing.
“Shit, it’s flying!” Lin Jingjing cursed before immediately breaking into a run.
As she ran, she was also swatting flies, using her Magic Image to crush the smaller flying monsters that got too close.
She didn’t have a single moment to rest.
“Captain Lin!” someone yelled upon seeing her tied up with the huge monster. “We’re coming to help!”
“Go rescue the others! If you come here, you’ll just be punching bags!” Lin Jingjing refused their kind offer. Besides, the monster didn’t look like something they could handle.
‘It’s better if they stay away and save their own skins. They have families—siblings, parents, children, spouses—waiting for them to come home safe.’
‘Getting swept up in the heat of the moment and throwing their lives away would be the biggest waste.’
After Lin Jingjing’s sharp rebuke, they had no choice but to fall back.
Lin Jingjing seized an opportunity, spinning around and striking out with her palm at the brute.
The colossal Magic Image behind her mirrored the motion. The palm strike landed squarely on the brute, dealing substantial damage.
It sent the brute flying, crashing through several high-rises before it was embedded in the wall of a building.
Lin Jingjing raised a hand to adjust the glasses on her nose. Amid the wreckage, she spotted the brute, still embedded in the wall.
As the saying goes: kick them while they’re down.
How could Lin Jingjing possibly pass up such a perfect chance for the kill? With a tap of her foot, the Hoverboard beneath her shot forward.
Once she was in front of the monster, she reached out, and the Magic Image behind her did the same.
It seized the still-dazed brute in its hand and was just about to crush it…
…when a woman’s voice drifted down from above. “Are you about to crush my pet?”
Lin Jingjing heard the voice and looked up to see Ni Sang standing on a rooftop railing, holding a large hat.
The wind whipped her dress about, making it snap.
Her red hair and the cape on her shoulders billowed in the wind.
Ni Sang wore exquisite makeup, a wide smile on her face as she looked down at Lin Jingjing.
Lin Jingjing held her pose, still gripping the brute, and tilted her head up to meet the other woman’s gaze.
“It’s your pet?” Lin Jingjing asked. “Then why don’t you keep it on a leash?”
“I just let him out for a walk,” Ni Sang said with a faint chuckle. “Please give my pet back to me.”
But there was no way Lin Jingjing was just going to hand it over.
She smirked, their eyes locked, and then Lin Jingjing squeezed.
The brute was instantly crushed, its blood and chunks of flesh splattering everywhere.
After crushing it, Lin Jingjing extended her hand, and the Magic Image’s hand reached out before Ni Sang.
The Magic Image’s hand was covered in blood and gore. Lying quietly in its palm was the head of Ni Sang’s pet.
The iron mask over its mouth fell away. When Ni Sang saw the familiar face beneath, her entire demeanor turned volatile.
“Here you go,” Lin Jingjing said coldly. “Still want him?”
“If not, I’ll just toss him.”
With that, she flicked her hand, tossing the brute’s head aside.
After tossing it, she added a “helpful” reminder, “Next time you get a pet, remember to keep it on a leash. That way it won’t run into someone and get itself killed.”
“Then it’ll be too late for tears.”
Ni Sang watched as Lin Jingjing treated her beloved pet with such contempt, and she flew into a rage.
‘That was the pet she had made from her favorite man!’
‘And now she destroyed him. How infuriating.’
“You… destroyed my precious,” Ni Sang said, her face cold as ice. “I’ll make you pay!”
Hearing the threat, Lin Jingjing sneered. “Pay? You’re the one who let your pet run wild. I haven’t even settled that score with you yet, and now you want *me* to pay?”
“That’s hilarious.”
The other woman didn’t waste time arguing. She dove, charging straight at Lin Jingjing.
She had infused her large red hat with spiritual power, turning it into a deadly weapon.
She threw the red hat toward Lin Jingjing.
But Lin Jingjing stood her ground, not dodging or flinching, her eyes fixed on her opponent.
The hat was stopped dead by Lin Jingjing’s Spirit Shield.
“So you can use spiritual power like that,” Lin Jingjing murmured, studying the hat with a curious gaze. ‘I never thought you could use it this way.’
‘Not only can you materialize it, you can also use it to coat objects.’
‘Does that mean anything around her can become a weapon?’
With that thought, Lin Jingjing decided to try it herself.
She extended her spiritual power, wrapping it around nearby scraps of metal wall and manipulating them to attack Ni Sang.
At the same time, she didn’t let up.
Her massive Magic Image also lunged at Ni Sang. Faced with such a dense barrage, Ni Sang could only scramble to defend herself.
Lin Jingjing watched the scene unfold and nodded in satisfaction.
‘Looks like I learned something new from them again.’
‘These people really know how to innovate.’
‘I wonder how this woman is able to dodge so freely in mid-air without using spiritual power.’
In the spirit of diligent inquiry, Lin Jingjing continued her assault while asking, “How are you doing that?”
“I don’t see you using any spiritual power.”
Hearing this, Ni Sang gritted her teeth. She was busy dodging the metal debris while also watching out for a strike from Lin Jingjing’s Magic Image.
She scoffed, “And why should I tell you?”
“People should share,” Lin Jingjing said with a cheerful laugh. As she spoke, she raised her hand and swatted the woman out of the sky.
“You share your little trick with me, and I’ll share this with you.”
“Isn’t that a win-win?”
Swatted onto a rooftop, Ni Sang coughed up a mouthful of blood. Her cape fluttered to the ground, and her dress was now torn and ragged.
She looked utterly wretched.
