Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 485: A Huge Rift Opened in the Sky

[Now, please witness for yourselves why this World of Ocean Survival has become so turbulent.]

An exceptionally large projection appeared in the void.

An island that looked like a spider from a bird’s-eye view appeared before everyone. The perspective shifted rapidly, moving from high above down to the surface. The island was riddled with craters, large and small. Hundreds of thousands of people were densely packed into one massive pit after another. They cried out, knelt and begged for mercy, screamed curses, and desperately tried to climb the pit walls, but it was all in vain.

They were all enveloped in one transparent barrier of light after another.

The eight large pits were arranged in an octagonal formation. All the light radiating from the barriers was being absorbed by a bright sphere of light in the very center.

And beneath the sphere of light was the already crazed Henry Lewis.

His four limbs had been severed, and the blood flowing out of them defied gravity, streaming upward to be absorbed by the sphere of light.

Although the raft was being tossed high by the waves, Faye Yardley remained perfectly steady on the veranda.

Watching the scene before her, she felt a chill run down her spine.

‘To think he would really use hundreds of thousands of lives to satisfy his own selfish desires.’

‘Logan Langdon is truly ruthless.’

At this moment, the people hiding in the raft houses could also see this scene. Shocked as they were, they didn’t forget to start frantically posting in the channel.

[However arrogant those people who went to the island were before, that’s how much they must regret it now. This is terrifying. Don’t tell me everyone who went to the island is already dead?]

[Oh my god, whose island is this? There are only a few people with islands, you guys need to speak up!]

[Zachary Pierce: This is a bird’s-eye view of our island.]

[Jay Jonas: This is a bird’s-eye view of our island.]

These two messages were quickly pinned. Then, many people started calling out Faye Yardley and Kyle Lewis.

Not wanting to be scapegoated, the siblings Faye Yardley and Ethan Yardley also posted bird’s-eye views of their islands and pinned them.

Of course, Faye posted a reduced, concealed version; its shape resembled a meat bone.

The other two from overseas posted theirs as well.

Well, damn. It was obvious now. The only one left who hadn’t said a word was Logan Langdon.

Who couldn’t figure out it was his island at this point?

[My god, Logan Langdon is going to kill over three hundred thousand people! He recruited batch after batch… what a monstrous sin.]

[Ha, I bet his last shred of ‘kindness’ was making sure the final huge batch he recruited were all foreigners.]

[******] xN

There were just too many people whose curses were so vulgar that they failed to display.

[I just want to know what the System meant by ‘this’ World of Ocean Survival? Could there be other Worlds of Ocean Survival? It’s unstable… does that mean we’re all going to sink into the sea?]

[SOB SOB SOB… I haven’t cried once since I got here, but I just can’t hold it back today! Logan Langdon, are you even human?! You’ve destroyed my hope of surviving and getting stronger!]

[What do we do? Can any of the experts tell me what to do next?]

[Zachary Pierce: Everyone, don’t panic. Maintain your rafts. This is not the time to be stingy with resources. The rafts are our only hope for continuing to survive on this ocean!]

The channel remained abuzz with activity, but Faye Yardley’s gaze had long since shifted away from it and back to the projection of the island.

The people in the eight great pits were gradually turning into a bloody mist.

Henry Lewis had shriveled into a desiccated husk. But even so, he was gradually disintegrating, disappearing and merging into the sphere of light.

He was a detestable person, yet as Faye Yardley watched, she felt no joy in her heart.

[My dear players, do you see that sphere of light in the middle? It’s absorbed so much energy, you know. It could be very dangerous~

This danger could affect every single player in our ocean survival. Of course, all you have to do is protect yourselves. We’re still looking forward to you all continuing to struggle and advance.

Don’t worry. Although things have become unstable, as long as you can endure it, we’ll be one step closer to freedom!]

As the System’s message concluded, the image in front of them vanished.

“System, I knew you were fanning the flames from behind the scenes.”

The System still didn’t reply to Faye Yardley’s words, but she didn’t need it to.

Faye could feel its giddy excitement through its message.

‘Just as the System reminded me, the priority now is to protect myself. Only by staying alive is there a future.’

With this in mind, Faye Yardley shouted toward the ocean, “Thunder Tree, Thunder Arc Tree, return!”

‘I was originally planning to check if the black seawater had been purified after breakfast.’

‘But it seems Logan Langdon just couldn’t wait.’

Her eyes swept over the constantly open void screen; the player count in the bottom-left corner of the chat channel was steadily decreasing.

‘Looking at those massive waves, if someone wasn’t on their raft from the start, their chances of survival were truly low.’

Her voice didn’t actually travel very far; after all, the world outside was as terrifying as a tsunami at the end of the world.

One of Bramble’s branches had already extended out from the sea and was continuously spreading toward the boundary.

RING-A-LING~

“Brother, what’s wrong?”

“I’m just checking to see if you’re okay. Why don’t you come over to my place?”

Faye Yardley shook her head. “You have so many people over there. You go ahead and take care of things, Brother. I’m fine. By the way, have you ever gotten a Personal Item Binding Card?”

Ethan Yardley nodded. “I got one as an event reward, but I haven’t used it yet. What’s up, you need it? I can send it over to you.”

“No need, I have one. Bind it to your raft. That way, the raft will truly belong to you.”

“Huh? Doesn’t the raft already belong to me?” Ethan Yardley quickly added, “Okay, I’ll do as you say. Good thing I didn’t use it on something random.”

Faye hummed in agreement. “I’ll go mention it in the small group chat.”

“You should also mention it in the national channel. I’m sure there are plenty of people who have passed 10 mini-games.”

“Okay.”

And so, she really did post a message in both the small group chat and the national channel about how the Personal Item Binding Card could be used to bind one’s raft.

As for whether others believed her or not, she couldn’t care less. If her brother hadn’t mentioned it, she wouldn’t have even bothered to say anything in the main channel.

Zephyr Sterling helped his Master sit down on the sofa, then bound his raft.

Master Veridian had been out of sorts ever since seeing the tragic state of his second disciple. He was helped to his seat amidst the rocking, then took out his own binding card. “Zephyr, give this to Yardley. No, give it to Yardley’s brother. She must have one herself if she’s reminding others.”

Taking the card, Zephyr Sterling sent it to Ethan Yardley without even asking if he already had one.

“Master, don’t be so heartbroken. About what happened to junior brother… we will get revenge on Logan Langdon for this.”

“You’re right. However, this has nothing to do with you and Gavin. Do not get involved. I will get justice for my second disciple myself.”

As time passed, a giant black fissure suddenly split the sky open, looking as if it could swallow everything.

[Dearest players, please make your final preparations. Will it be destruction, or will we welcome the arrival of The New World? Let’s all wait and see!]
