Chapter 484: Binding Successful, the Big Event Begins
It could be said that today’s pinned section in the National Channel was completely dominated by the server-wide announcements about Faye Yardley.
To advance to the First Tier in just a few short hours—and after the event had already ended, no less—left many in disbelief. At the same time, they deeply regretted leaving the event so early.
They couldn’t help but wonder if, had they held on a little longer, the final rewards might have allowed them to jump up two tiers in a row as well.
Logan Langdon stared at the announcements, his expression as grim as a storm cloud.
If he had originally planned to wait and improve his strength a bit more before taking action, he was now feeling incredibly impatient.
BEEP BEEP BEEP. The sound of incoming messages chimed incessantly. Faye didn’t have many friends to begin with, and since she was in a good mood, she didn’t mind reading through them one by one.
They were mostly congratulatory messages. None of them pried into the secret of how she had advanced so quickly.
Sure enough, those she had stayed in contact with for so long all had decent character.
Except for Logan, who sent a rather sour message: “Gorgeous Yardley, congratulations. I didn’t expect the clearance rewards for this event to be so generous.”
She replied with a “thank you” to everyone.
Everyone in the small group chat even sent Gifts to congratulate her. They were all just minor items meant to liven up the mood, so Faye accepted them all and casually sent out a large, randomized lucky-draw Gift in return.
While everyone else was happily celebrating, Logan felt his chest tighten when he saw her reply. He let out a cold snort. “I hope you’ll still be able to say thanks when the time comes.”
“What’s wrong, Logan?”
“Nothing. Chloe, get everything ready. I don’t want to wait another second.”
Chloe Hughes gave him a deep look. “Okay.”
Faye checked the time. It was already late at night. Touching her stomach, she felt hungry once again.
Instead of going downstairs, she went to the small balcony. She sat on the sofa, using her mind to pull a pile of food and drinks from her warehouse and inventory, placing them on the coffee table. The chubby little bird flew in, perched in an empty spot on the table, and looked up, greeting her with a CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP.
“What do you want to eat? I’ll serve it for you. You can’t just peck at every plate. I don’t want to eat your saliva,” Faye said.
CHIRP CHIRP!
The bird chirped indignantly, wondering how a proud creature like itself could possibly leave saliva on everything.
Faye tried her best to control the force of her hands and served it a separate plate, letting it eat on the side while she continued to stuff her face without pause.
Hungry. So hungry. She was so, so hungry…
How was it possible for a person to get hungrier the more they ate?
Rubbing her stomach, Faye felt that her current state was completely abnormal.
She glanced at the steel soup spoon in her hand. Its handle was already dented, and there were obvious teeth marks on the bowl of the spoon…
Faye sighed. She had already tried her best to control her strength, and she had just been eating normally—at the very least, she hadn’t shattered her own healthy teeth.
This couldn’t go on. She tossed the spoon aside and leaped out the open window. She landed with a heavy THUD. If the wooden floorboards of the raft hadn’t been produced by the system, they likely would have been smashed right through.
Then she dashed toward the training room. In a moment of carelessness, she crashed straight into the wall.
Wiping her face, Faye slowly walked to the door. She tried to control her strength, keeping her hands as gentle as possible as she pushed it open. However, the door still slammed with a loud BANG.
Three hours later, she emerged from the training room with a blank expression. The Intermediate training room still had an effect on her, but it was minimal now.
What a tragic story.
Fortunately, after three hours of rigorous training, she could now pick things up normally without breaking them.
Looking up at the sky, she saw a full moon hanging high above. It emitted a soft yet bright glow, illuminating the sparkling surface of the sea.
The night breeze was slightly chilly, fluttering Faye’s hair.
“What a beautiful night,” she murmured.
“Sister, why are you out here? Did you come to the training room too?”
Faye smiled at Bella. “You’re still awake this late? You won’t grow taller if you don’t sleep.”
“That’s not true! I… I’ve already grown a little taller after drinking the Life Essence. Can’t you tell, Sister?” Bella said, gesturing in front of Faye with her hand. “I used to reach up to here on you, and now I’m up to here! I’ve grown two whole centimeters.”
Regardless, Bella was still a normal human, so Faye didn’t press the issue. “Alright, you go ahead to the training room. I’m going back to sleep.”
It was already 2:00 AM. She could lie down for another two hours. Even if she couldn’t fall asleep, just resting in bed would put her in a good mood.
Beautiful moments always pass, no matter how fast or slow they seem.
Sitting on the balcony, eating breakfast with everyone and casually fishing for treasure chests, Faye’s leisurely morning didn’t even last until the meal was over.
The originally calm surface of the sea began to churn with surging waves. The sky transitioned instantly from the faint light of dawn to dense, dark clouds and rolling thunder and lightning.
Faye stood up and looked out at the ocean. The waves were growing higher and higher, carrying the overwhelming momentum of an approaching tsunami.
Her intuition told her that this was Logan starting his trouble.
A Personal Item Binding Card then appeared in her hand. She directly designated the Dragon Turtle Raft beneath her feet as the bound item. Unexpectedly, it succeeded in an instant.
[Congratulations to player Faye Yardley for successfully binding the raft. The raft is now your personal asset. Please name it.]
“Goliath.”
[The raft Goliath has been successfully named.]
The moment the binding was complete, Faye sensed the raft core and saw her name engraved upon it.
Remembering that she still had two more raft cores, she took them out of her personal storage.
[Unowned raft cores detected. Do you wish to merge them with the core of the raft Goliath?]
“Yes.”
The raft cores in her hand vanished. In the miniature projection of her raft before her eyes, the originally tiny raft core instantly grew two sizes larger. It also became significantly brighter, radiating an earthy-yellow glow.
Even the raft beneath her feet felt much more solid and sturdy to stand on.
The Energy Protection Tower had also been enhanced.
Checking her Attributes, she saw that the section previously labeled “Personal Island” had changed to “Personal Assets.” Before, it had only listed the island’s name; now, it displayed three items: the island Conch Isle, the raft Goliath, and Shop 88 in Lumina.
It seemed that this Personal Item Binding Card was incredibly useful. No wonder it was one of the final rewards.
So, out of all the people on the sea, as long as a raft wasn’t bound, it didn’t actually belong to the individual? Did they only have the right to use it?
She thought of those who wanted to break away from the system and go ashore. Their rafts were all processed by the system, and any uncarried supplies were packaged and given directly to the Island Master.
Just what kind of massive scheme was Logan planning?
“So annoying!” she thought.
Fist-sized hailstones began to fall from the sky with a series of THUDS, while the thunder and lightning showed no signs of stopping.
She hadn’t been far from the boundary to begin with. On one side of the raft was a beautiful, calm sea, while the other side faced The Thunderhead.
Now, she was completely caught in this extreme weather, surrounded by massive waves capable of tossing even Goliath into the air.
[Server-Wide Announcement: Dear player friends, I have some bad news for you. This system has been attacked by an abnormal energy force and can no longer maintain the stability of this World of Ocean Survival. Are you feeling the thrill?!]
[I imagine no one is willing to die in this vast sea without knowing the truth…]
