Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 473: I Don’t Want to Wait Any Longer, I Just Want to Know the Truth

Chapter 473 -471: I Don’t Want to Wait Any Longer, I Just Want to Know the Truth

A peaceful day passed. In the evening, Faye Yardley made a special trip down to the deep sea to check the progress of the seawater purification. She had to admit, the interaction between the two Magic Plants yielded a result far greater than the sum of its parts. Faye felt that she wouldn’t need to stay here much longer before she could move on.

Bella and Cole Kensington also returned one after the other, bringing her a large batch of basic supplies, various time slot Invitation Cards, and assorted recovery supplements. Bella told her excitedly that she had also exchanged for a Basic Martial Arts Skill Book. She was determined to master it, confident that her combat power would definitely rise to another level. Cole didn’t say as much, but Faye knew this boy was just as competitive and constantly striving to become stronger.

Faye simply gave them each a bottle of Life Essence. Bella’s bottle was the one Faye had left over, which was just enough for one portion. After all, those who fought in battles were prone to injuries, big or small, light or severe. Naturally, her combat companions were worth her investment. Having spent this amount of time together, Faye had come to completely trust Cole, even without a special system binding. Plus, since she got Talent Stones from opening chests yesterday, she conveniently gave each of them one.

Bella’s eyes sparkled as she took the item and thanked her. Cole, on the other hand, hesitated while looking at the Talent Stone. “Sister, do you know how precious this is?”

“I know, but in my eyes, you guys are far more precious than these stones. Just take it and don’t worry.”

Bella happily used the Talent Stone and then said excitedly, “Sister, quickly check my Talent! I feel like my mood has gotten even better.”

Because the two of them shared a deep bond, Faye could directly view Bella’s Talent through the system. “Your Talent is really weird. It’s actually called ‘Optimist’. This Talent seems to increase your personal Attributes whenever you’re happy.”

Although Cole’s bond wasn’t as deep as Bella’s, his entire life was basically in Faye’s hands. At the same time, he was her employee. As long as he was willing to open his status to her, Faye could easily view it.

Faye looked at Cole with a baffled expression. “Why is your Talent ‘Human Race Holy Body’? Can this even be a Talent? Oh, those who possess this Talent will have all their Attributes increased, and they can break past human limits much more easily.”

Actually, what Faye couldn’t understand the most was why Talents took such forms. She had thought Talents would be like her ‘Double Good Luck’, her brother’s critical strikes, or Bonnie Callahan’s skill enhancements. It turned out her perspective had been too narrow. So Talents could be this diverse and bizarre.

However, both Bella and Cole were very satisfied with the Talents they acquired. The two turned around and headed straight to the training room to spar.

“Sister, I just made some fresh bamboo shoot soup. We can eat now. Didn’t those two just come back?” Willow Yardley asked as she came out of the kitchen, only to see Faye by herself.

“Over there, in the training room. Let’s just ignore them. Go get Eamon, and the three of us will eat first.”

Eamon arrived very quickly. He had been truly joyous these past two days. Obtaining many special plant seeds had allowed his strength to increase by another margin. He rushed over upon hearing his sister call him for a meal, secretly hoping she might have more new seeds for him. But evidently, she didn’t; mealtime was simply mealtime.

While eating the bamboo shoots, Faye praised Eamon several times, as these shoots were all cultivated by him. It could be said that with him around, she never had to worry about their farming situation. Fortunately, both Willow and Eamon were highly capable. They kept all the chores on the raft perfectly organized. If Faye had to rely on herself, she really couldn’t imagine what a disaster it would be.

After Eamon left, Faye took a bottle of Life Essence from her private storage and gave it to Willow. This left her with only one final bottle on hand.

“Sister, I don’t need this.”

“Bella got one too. Just take it.”

As for Eamon, he had actually been by her side for quite a long time and was a good guy. However, perhaps because he was an Otherkin and their relationship was strictly professional, Faye inevitably treated him with a slight degree of distance. Even though she was aware of this bias, Faye didn’t feel the need to change it. She firmly believed in treating people differently based on their closeness to her.

Willow looked down at the small bottle of Life Essence in her hands, her eyes instantly turning red. She felt that she was really becoming less and less like a digital lifeform. “Thank you, Sister. Then I will shamelessly accept it.”

Faye waved her hand dismissively. She gazed at the glowing red sunset that was about to sink below sea level, her heart completely at ease.

At exactly 8:00 PM, the system’s broadcast echoed in the minds of every maritime survival player.

“Good evening, dear players. Have the calm and uneventful days lately been too boring for you?

“Rest assured, a new event will be launched very soon. We won’t let you stay bored for long.

“After all, pursuing excitement and power is the ultimate lifelong goal of our maritime survival players!

“The new event will start punctually at 8:00 AM on the 13th. Please look forward to it!”

The 13th? Today was the 11th, which meant they could enjoy one more peaceful day.

This broadcast also drove many who feared the events to desperately plead in the national channel, begging various Island Masters to let them onto their islands as ordinary citizens. Many people tagged her, but Faye didn’t care at all. After all, she was an Island Master too.

What surprised her was that Logan Langdon was once again recruiting a massive number of laborers to mine on his island. She wondered what he was trying to do. His island wasn’t exactly gigantic, yet it already housed over 300,000 people. Was that still not enough?

Logan’s actions genuinely gave Faye a bad premonition. She had always trusted her intuition. But she couldn’t stop him. After all, her relationship with Logan was only slightly better than that of strangers; she had no sway over his decisions.

The only silver lining was that Logan explicitly required all new arrivals to be New Veridians. Naturally, his requirement sparked dissatisfaction among many Aridians, but no amount of complaining could change Logan’s mind.

Thinking of the Truth Card, Faye once again asked Zachary Pierce about it. However, the reply she got was that Logan had still not accepted their invitation to visit. Whenever they asked, he simply said he was busy. Furthermore, to avoid raising suspicion, they couldn’t invite him too frequently. Otherwise, he might suspect they had ulterior motives, which would be counterproductive.

Faye gritted her teeth. She wanted to know the truth and wasn’t prepared to wait any longer. Then she began rummaging through her warehouse and inventory, looking for something she had no use for but would definitely tempt Logan.

She wondered what on earth would be suitable. She couldn’t bear to part with the really good stuff, and Logan obviously wouldn’t care for mediocre items. This was going to be difficult.

“Sister, are you looking for something?”

“Yeah, something I have no use for, but that might be incredibly useful to someone else.”
