Chapter 450 - 448: You’re Saying I’m Not Good-Looking?
Chapter 450: Chapter 448: You’re Saying I’m Not Good-Looking?
Nora Nash waved her over. "What are you doing standing in the doorway? Come sit. What would you like to drink?"
Faye Yardley turned back to tell Shawn Lawler and Laura Summers to go about their business, then walked into the sunroom with a smile and sat down directly in the seat next to Nora Nash. "Anything’s fine. Oh, I mean any soft drink is fine."
After a waiter brought their drinks over, Faye Yardley grew very curious as to how these two had ended up together. "Did you both get invited?"
"I was the one who received an invitation from Lord Russell. Island Master Nash is the uninvited guest," Momo replied after pouring a drink for each of them.
Faye Yardley smiled, picked up her drink, and took a sip. Her eyes lit up. ’This mixed fruit juice blend is delicious!’
Nora Nash didn’t refute Momo’s comment, instead asking, "Are you free after the wedding?"
"Me? I’m free. Is something up? And how did you know I’d be here?"
’After all, they hadn’t called beforehand, so Faye Yardley was genuinely curious how he knew she would come.’
’Cole Kensington doesn’t have an All-World Communication Phone, either.’
Thinking of the All-World Communication Phones, Faye Yardley looked at Momo. "Earl, do you have any more All-World Communication Phones? Could you sell me a few?"
"How many do you want? I’ll just give them to you." Momo’s words were generous, and his actions even more so. He directly retrieved four phones from his Storage Ring and handed them to her.
Faye Yardley asked curiously, "Is this one of your businesses?"
"Haha... so are you tempted?" Momo didn’t answer directly.
Faye Yardley huffed and put the phones into her backpack.
Nora Nash glanced at Momo, then turned to Faye Yardley with a smile. He didn’t answer her last question, but said, "We’re planning to go to Gigantia. If you’re free, we’d like to take you with us."
"Gigantia? Is my strength level high enough?" Faye Yardley’s expression froze as she remembered fishing up things like a Giant’s Smelly Socks.
"If you want to go, you can."
Faye Yardley nodded. "I want to go! I’ll be counting on you to take me along, then."
The three of them chatted for a while before Luca Russell came over.
"Hey, so you’re all here! This is great! I’m so happy you could come to my and Diana’s wedding."
Luca Russell was dressed in a red groom’s outfit—the very set Faye Yardley had given him.
He then did a deliberate spin. "Yardley, what do you think? Looks good, right? Haha. Thanks for the wedding clothes, they’re amazing. I can’t wait to see how beautiful Diana will look in her bridal gown."
"I’m just glad you like them. How long until the wedding starts?"
"At twelve noon. I have to go pick up Diana now, so please forgive me if the hospitality is lacking." Luca Russell continued, "When I get back with my bride, I’ll be sure to have a few drinks with you all."
After a few more words of chat, he instructed the butler to take good care of his guests and then hurried away.
Nora Nash took out an Invitation Card and gave it to Faye Yardley. "Take this. When the time comes, just use the Invitation Card. We’ll meet up there."
"Okay. I’ll definitely be there." Faye Yardley glanced at the date on the Invitation Card. It was for December 12th. ’That’s still a ways off.’
Although the wedding ceremony itself was at noon, the banquet had already begun.
With their business settled, the three of them headed to the banquet hall together.
Nora Nash and Momo knew quite a few people—or perhaps it was better to say they were both celebrities. The moment they appeared, many people came over to greet them.
Faye Yardley tried to slip away, but Nora Nash grabbed her by the arm. "Where do you think you’re going?"
"Haha, you guys are busy. I’ll just find a place to sit."
"I’ll go with you." Nora Nash showed no intention of greeting the others, instead leading Faye Yardley straight out of the banquet hall and into the garden outside.
Faye Yardley asked curiously, "Are you sure it’s okay for you to do that?"
’As for being hated by a bunch of noble ladies because of him, that wasn’t an issue at all. Once she was back out on the sea, no one would be able to cause trouble for her.’
’Suddenly, life on the sea seemed pretty great. No one could find her, and no one could bother her family or friends.’
Nora Nash was very casual. "It doesn’t matter. I was just here to see the City Lord of Lumina. I happened upon this wedding and was invited to stay for it, that’s all."
"Oh."
’Since he didn’t care, she cared even less.’
Nora Nash looked down and asked, "You’re an Island Master now, too. Have you ever thought about having your island join The Omni-Verse?"
"The Omni-Verse?" Faye Yardley had no idea what that was, but thinking about the GHA she’d heard of before—which was a guard force belonging to The Omni-Verse—she frowned slightly. "I haven’t thought about it. What’s the difference between joining and not joining?"
Seeing that she was truly clueless, Nora Nash patiently filled her in on some of the basics.
Joining was, of course, better than not joining. The only downside was the immense cost.
To put it bluntly, it was paying for protection.
If you didn’t join, you’d have to deal with all sorts of messy problems on your own. No one would even help if you were captured by Void Light-chasing Plants.
"So, is your island part of that organization?"
Nora Nash nodded, looking at Faye Yardley. "All new islands have a one-to-three-year grace period, like a beginner’s protection phase. During this time, you won’t be discovered. You should use this opportunity to raise your strength. Once you’re strong enough, you can use your power as a bargaining chip to join."
"Thank you." Faye Yardley’s gratitude was sincere. ’After all, his intentions were good; he didn’t have to say anything at all.’
’If she had to wait until she ran into all sorts of pirates and troubles to slowly figure things out, the gap in knowledge would have been enormous.’
’This was the first time she had ever heard of something like Void Light-chasing Plants. They chase light... If Aquaria had suddenly turned into The Frigid World, it was entirely possible that this kind of plant had captured its sun, causing Aquaria to lose its source of light and heat.’
’Speaking of which, Luca Russell’s sister, Lilia, had a fiancé who was a GHA squad captain. His strength must be truly remarkable.’
Suddenly, festive and cheerful music began to play. A waiter came over and invited them to the hall, saying the newlyweds had arrived.
’Witnessing an otherworldly wedding here was a truly interesting experience.’
Dressed in a traditional Veridian Dragon and Phoenix wedding gown, Diana Quinn looked more dignified than usual, possessing an indescribable, nation-toppling beauty and a graceful, noble air.
Luca Russell would turn to look at Diana Quinn from time to time, the unconcealable love in his eyes plain to see. His joy and happiness were written all over his face.
Holding Diana Quinn’s hand was her younger brother, Kian Quill.
Even during such a solemn and sacred moment, the little bunny-eared boy was constantly looking around. When he saw Faye Yardley, his eyes lit up, and he even gave her a little wave.
"You certainly know a lot of people."
Faye Yardley gave Kian Quill a small wave in return. Hearing Nora Nash’s soft words in her ear, she smiled slightly. "Of course. After all, I’m so good-looking, it’s only natural that a lot of people would want to know me."
"Heh."
She tilted her head up slightly and shot him a look. "Are you trying to say I’m not good-looking?"
Nora Nash: ...
