Chapter 451 - 449: Feeling Nostalgic? A New Event
Chapter 451: Chapter 449: Feeling Nostalgic? A New Event
After the most important part of the wedding concluded, Nora Nash said, "I’m heading out," and then slipped away without a sound.
Faye Yardley blinked. ’Shouldn’t the best part of a wedding be the food?’
’Leaving without even eating? What a waste.’
Momo squeezed through the crowd to her side, looking around. "Where’d he go?"
"He left."
"Tsk. He just left you here all by yourself?"
Faye Yardley gave him an odd look. "What, were you expecting something else?"
Momo let out a dry laugh. "Heh. Since he’s gone, I’m leaving too. Faye, don’t forget, we’ll be waiting for you on the other side."
"Okay. You’re not eating either?"
"What’s so good to eat here? For me..." Momo suddenly leaned in close to Faye Yardley, his ice-cold hand touching her neck. "Your blood is far more tempting than any of that food."
SWAT!
Swatting his hand away, Faye Yardley rolled her eyes at him. "Stop drooling. Otherwise, I might not be able to stop myself from slapping you."
"Tsk, tsk. So cold and heartless. How quickly you turn on people. You certainly didn’t talk to me this way when we first met."
Faye Yardley really wanted to punch him, ’but I know I’m no match for him. If I can’t win, I just have to put up with it.’
"I’m off, Faye. Make sure you miss me, you hear?"
’My hand is getting itchy. It’s like it has a mind of its own.’ Faye Yardley felt like she was about to lose control of it.
But Momo was true to his word and left. Unlike Nora Nash, however, he said his goodbyes to most of the guests before departing.
As Faye Yardley focused on selecting food, quite a few people started to gravitate toward her, wanting to see what kind of person could have captured the favor of both Momo and Nora Nash.
But after observing her for a long time, they couldn’t see anything special about her, aside from her good looks.
"Miss Yardley, there you are!" Kian Quill squeezed through the crowd and happily tugged on Faye Yardley’s wide sleeve.
Faye Yardley hummed in acknowledgment. "Why aren’t you with your sister? Are you hungry? The food here is pretty good, you know. Want some?"
"Okay." Kian Quill pointed at the people around them. "Why are they all following you, Miss Yardley? Is the food over here really that much better than everywhere else?"
"Perhaps."
Kian Quill eventually led Faye Yardley to the bridal suite where Diana Quinn was waiting.
"Congratulations."
Diana Quinn hummed. "Thanks. You should join us for the fireworks display tonight."
Faye Yardley checked how much longer she could stay and said regretfully, "I’m afraid I can’t. I can’t stay here for long."
"That’s a real shame. But no worries, I’ll have someone pack some fireworks for you to take back. The ones here are quite unique. You can set them off when you get home."
"Thank you, in that case, I’ll take you up on that." As she spoke, Faye Yardley took out the wedding gift she had prepared.
Diana Quinn opened the wooden box and found a neatly folded duvet cover and pillowcase set, embroidered with a dragon and phoenix.
"Whoa, this is gorgeous! Sis, Miss Yardley, give it to me instead!"
Diana Quinn flicked her brother on the forehead and pushed him away. She then picked up the set to examine it more closely. "Wow, this is gorgeous! It even matches the gown I’m wearing now. This is a duvet cover? And I’m supposed to sleep on it? I suddenly don’t think I can bear to use it."
Despite her words, she had already called someone in to put the new cover and pillowcases on the bed. Once they were done, she threw herself onto it.
"Wow, it’s so beautiful! I absolutely love it. Faye, you should have seen the look on Lilia’s face—she was so jealous she looked like her face was about to contort, hahaha..."
Faye Yardley: ...
Upon returning from Lumina, Faye Yardley brought back not only the fireworks but also all sorts of fun toys and tasty treats from Diana Quinn and her brother.
In addition, there were the various plant seeds her shop had acquired from other players.
"Sis, you’re back! That was fast."
Night had also fallen in their sea survival world. A gentle evening breeze blew, the stars shone brilliantly—it was a beautiful scene.
Faye Yardley hummed in response, took out a palm-sized firework, and threw it forcefully into the sky. At a certain point, the firework suddenly exploded.
Flowers bloomed in the night sky, with graceful butterflies dancing among them.
The flowers and butterflies drifted down slowly, finally hovering to a stop just above the raft.
’So different from the fireworks in Veridia,’ she thought.
CHIRP CHIRP~
A small Goldfinch flew out from the second-floor balcony window, darting into the floral firework display to chase the butterflies.
Faye Yardley watched the Goldfinch. "Oh, Jade can already fly! What has it been eating for the past two days? Did it just hatch?"
Willow Yardley looked up. "It probably just finished eating its eggshell. I’d heard it chirping before, but I’d never seen it fly out."
"Jade, Jade, come down!" Faye Yardley called out to the Goldfinch in the air. Soon, with a few chirps, the little bird landed in her palm.
Raising her hand to get a closer look, Faye Yardley couldn’t help but think that Jade looked more like a baby chick. ’Maybe everyone, myself included, was wrong before.’
’It doesn’t look anything like an Azure Phoenix.’
"Sis, Jade is actually pretty cute. I’m sure it’ll be even more beautiful when it grows up."
CHIRP CHIRP~
The Goldfinch puffed out its chest, a look on its face that seemed to say, ’Well, of course. You have good taste.’
Faye Yardley couldn’t help but chuckle. "Let’s hope so."
’I just hope it doesn’t grow up to be a big hen. That would be a complete waste of the great name I gave it.’
She transferred the rest of the fireworks into her private inventory, deciding to save them for celebrating future good news.
’I guess this one can count as a celebration for the Goldfinch,’ she thought, ’even if that wasn’t the original plan.’
Lucy White came galloping across the surface of the sea on Bella’s back. She leaped onto the raft, dismounted, and ran over. "Faye, take me with you next time, no matter what you’re doing! It’s so boring otherwise."
"It’s only been a day. What could you possibly be bored about? Did you fish for any treasure chests?"
"Heh heh, of course we did! Bella and I even pulled up two of them. Here."
As she spoke, Lucy White took the treasure chests she had found that day out of her Storage Ring.
There were three Wooden Treasure Chests.
Faye Yardley told her to open them herself for fun.
But Lucy White was insistent, pushing them toward her. "Your luck is way better than mine, Faye! The stuff you get will definitely be better than anything I’d get, so of course you should be the one to open them!"
’I suppose that’s true,’ Faye Yardley thought. ’And this good weather has held for quite a few days now, with no new system event... Is it possible something big isn’t brewing?’
As if on cue, dark clouds began to gather in the sky in the early hours of that same morning. By the time Faye Yardley woke up at four, the sky was an oppressive, suffocating blanket of black.
The old saying, "Dark clouds press down on the city, threatening to overwhelm it," had never felt so real.
Lightning flashed intermittently within the roiling black clouds.
There was no wind or rain yet, just the crushing, uncomfortable pressure.
[Dear Players, have you been missing this kind of extreme weather? Welcome to our new event: Days in the Tempest.]
[Friendly Reminder: The harsh climate has also unsettled the creatures of the sea. Watch out for them.]
