Chapter 582 - 455: Be Careful of Being Struck by Lightning (Part 2)

Chapter 582: Chapter 455: Be Careful of Being Struck by Lightning (Part 2)

Flora Bloom stumbled when she was pushed, but instead of getting angry, she found herself looking at the six-person team with considerable appreciation.

’Looks like we have our reason for getting into Aethelgard Base,’ she thought as the approaching wall of fiery rock made her eyes light up with excitement.

A watery mist spread from Flora Bloom’s body, enveloping both the six-person team and her own group. The air, which had grown scorching hot from the approaching fiery rocks, suddenly became cool and refreshing.

When Lance Holland saw that Flora Bloom hadn’t left and was instead using her superpower to help, he spoke up in his surprise.

"Thank you for your help, friends. But this guy, Robin, his superpower is about to reach Nebula Level! We’re no match for him. You three should get out of here, fast!"

"That’s not a given."

The white water mist shielded them, making a SIZZLING sound as it came into contact with the fiery rocks Robin had summoned.

Yet, the mist didn’t dissipate. Instead, it coalesced into beautiful blossoms of water that danced through the air, swarming around the fiery rocks.

Before long, the Fire Element Energy on the rocks was completely depleted. Simultaneously, the once-menacing volley of stones fell harmlessly to the ground.

"Who are you people!" Robin roared, his heart filled with rage as he watched the fiery rocks he had summoned with his superpower fall to the ground as nothing more than ordinary stones.

"We’re just some superpower users from near Valoria City, chased over here by a horde of zombies. And as for you... I think it’s best not to be ungrateful. You might just get struck by lightning as divine punishment!"

"You! You little bitch! Do you have any idea what happens to people who cross me?!"

Robin’s furious shout woke Polly Cross, who had been sound asleep.

Polly, now awake, struggled in Flora Bloom’s arms to sit up. She looked up and saw the nasty-looking Robin yelling at her mother.

Polly, who always woke up cranky, twisted her little mouth and burst into tears. "WAH WAH WAH!"

At the same time, a bolt of lightning suddenly appeared over Robin’s head, striking the unprepared man and cooking him crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Polly was still only a Middle Level superpower user, yet she could momentarily paralyze a powerhouse who was on the verge of breaking through to the Nebula Level. Such was the power of the Thunder Element.

"I did say you’d get struck by lightning."

"You—! Who did that?!"

That bolt of lightning was no natural phenomenon; it was clearly infused with the energy of a superpower. Robin wasn’t an idiot; he knew someone had done it.

"I did. Want to try again?"

"Heh. Looks like a lot of people have a death wish today. You..."

"Courting death." With that one phrase from Lex Cross, an even larger bolt of lightning struck Robin, charring his body black and leaving him unable to move.

Robin’s body remained standing, motionless. The six-person team was too stunned to move. Suddenly, his body collapsed. When it hit the ground, half of it disintegrated into black ash that scattered in the wind.

This scene left the six of them dumbfounded. So, their attempt to protect these people had been completely unnecessary. They weren’t afraid of Robin in the slightest.

’For a child that young to have already awakened the Thunder Element... if she grows up, she’ll be every bit as powerful as this man, if not more so,’ Lance Holland thought, his brow furrowed. He had a feeling that the first bolt of lightning hadn’t come from the man, but from the child.

But he knew better than to ask questions he wasn’t supposed to ask.

"You’ve all saved us twice now. I don’t know how we can possibly thank you," Lance Holland said, his face full of gratitude as he cupped his hands in a salute to the group.

"There’s no need for thanks," Flora replied. "If we hadn’t intervened, his superpower would have hit us as well. We were just acting in self-defense."

"I’m Lance Holland, the leader and captain of this squad. These are my core members: our number two, Sid Lyon; number three, Wesley Porter; number four, Elvis Stanton; our fifth, Melanie Lawson; and our sixth, Peter."

Flora Bloom smiled and nodded at each of them in turn. "I’m Flora Bloom, this is my husband, Lex, this is our brother-in-arms, Saul, and this is my daughter, Polly. Polly, say hello to the nice uncles and auntie!"

Polly was easily placated. Though she had been bawling just a moment before, after a little coaxing from Flora Bloom, she not only stopped crying but even broke into a giggle. Guided by her mother, she went down the line, calling each of them "uncle" and "auntie."

The woman named Melanie Lawson looked to be just under thirty. She had a mature air about her, but for female superpower users, cultivation seemed to freeze their physical age, keeping their skin from aging further.

Melanie Lawson had the features of a careful and attractive woman, a real diamond in the rough. But in the post-apocalyptic world, her rough clothes, disheveled appearance, and the grime covering her made her seem older than she was.

’Time to get to the point,’ Flora Bloom thought. ’I didn’t save them for free.’
