Chapter 581 - 455: Watch Out for Lightning
Chapter 581: Chapter 455: Watch Out for Lightning
The Iron-eating Beast was stout, yet shockingly fast. Carrying its cub, it dashed away and vanished from the edge of the bamboo forest in an instant.
Flora Bloom watched it go. ’The bamboo forest...’
Even though the eight people on the ground had tried to steal its cub, the Iron-eating Beast had only knocked them out, sparing their lives.
Seeing that the people on the ground were about to wake up, Flora Bloom quickly concealed herself within Lex Cross’s Devouring Force.
She pulled a few old garments from her personal dimension, handing them to Lex Cross and Saul Sterling. Then, she popped into her dimension to change into a tattered outfit herself.
Flora Bloom glanced at the two men, then at Polly.
’This won’t do. We’re still too clean!’
Irene Seymour was the first to wake. The first thing she saw were three figures—two men and a woman—caked in so much mud they looked like statues. The woman was holding an equally filthy child.
"Who are you?" Irene Seymour was still groggy from the Iron-eating Beast’s attack, but her eyes were sharp and alert. A look of utter disgust crossed her face as she took in the sight of the three adults and one child, and she hastily scrambled away from Flora Bloom and her companions.
She replayed the events in her mind. The Iron-eating Beast had attacked them to get its cub back. Then, she glanced down at her now-empty arms and stomped her foot in frustration.
"Damn it! I had it in my grasp!"
"Oh, that wasn’t a duck that attacked you! It was huge. A panda."
"Panda" was the term used on Earth. But Irene Seymour scoffed at the name. "Panda? What panda? That was an ancient Iron-eating Beast! You filthy country bumpkins! Stay away from me!" With a final, disgusted glare, Irene Seymour kicked one of her followers who was still unconscious on the ground. When he didn’t stir, she turned and left by herself.
Flora Bloom had originally planned to use their status as rescuers to follow Irene Seymour into the base. But the woman was so arrogant she looked down her nose at everyone, completely ignoring them.
Though Irene Seymour had been pampered her whole life, she possessed a keen and sensitive awareness of her surroundings.
But these three adults and a child were so filthy they made her want to retch, hardly enough to set off her internal alarms. ’The Iron-eating Beast is powerful, but maybe these people just got lucky and managed to save us?’
She pushed the thought aside. She hadn’t captured the Iron-eating Beast, so she needed to get back and have her father, Jude Seymour, send men to search the nearby bamboo forest.
’This Iron-eating Beast is so powerful... it looks like I’ll need my father to handle this after all.’
A short while after Irene Seymour left, the seven remaining people on the ground gradually began to wake up.
The first to stir was a man from the group of six. He staggered to his feet, clutching his head. After a moment to get his bearings, he spotted Flora Bloom’s party of four and recoiled in shock.
It wasn’t that Flora Bloom’s group looked particularly terrifying. It was just that waking up after expecting to be dead, only to see four people who were so unforgivably filthy, would give anyone a fright.
"You’re the ones who saved us?"
Flora Bloom nodded.
"Thank you so much! That Iron-eating Beast was vicious and terrifying. Your Superpower Levels must be incredibly high!"
As they were speaking, the other five members of his group also got to their feet. Irene Seymour’s follower—the one she had kicked—also came to. Not seeing Irene anywhere, he was startled to find that not only had all six members of the other team regained consciousness, but they were now accompanied by four filthy strangers: three adults and a child.
’Better make a run for it!’
"Robin, you stop right there!"
"You traitorous piece of trash! Yvonne Sterling isn’t here to protect you now. Let’s see you act so high and mighty!"
Robin was clutching his side. Flora Bloom guessed the injury was from the kick Irene Seymour had given him before she left. ’Looks like there’s some history between these people,’ she mused.
"Betrayal?" Robin sneered. "With your team, I could barely get enough to eat! When did I ever get my fair share of the Crystal Cores and loot from our hunts?"
"A man has to climb higher in life. Everyone in the Seymour family is powerful, and they distribute loot fairly. My own superpower has improved significantly since I joined them."
Robin unleashed his superpower. A cluster of stone shards materialized behind him, each one glowing with the energy of a Fire Ability.
’Damn,’ Flora thought. ’It’s a Mutated Superpower, an Earth Element one that’s become a rock-type ability. Each stone is infused with Fire Element Energy. When they hit a target, they’ll inflict a burning effect.’
’The burn seeps right into the bone marrow; not even another Fire Ability User could control or extinguish it.’ She watched as Robin hurled the attack at the group of six.
Flora Bloom and her companions were standing right beside the group of six. ’Does this Robin even look where he’s aiming?’ she fumed. ’Is he really this casual about collateral damage?’
The six of them were only High-level Superpower Users, with one being just Middle Level. Robin, however, was clearly on the verge of becoming a Nebula Level Superpower User.
They wouldn’t be able to block this barrage of fiery rock.
And yet, even in this situation, the man who had spoken with Flora Bloom shoved her and her companions aside. "This has nothing to do with you! Get out of here!" The other five also spread out, forming a protective wall in front of them.
