Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid

Chapter 583 - 455: Be Careful of Getting Struck by Lightning

Chapter 583: Chapter 455: Be Careful of Getting Struck by Lightning

Just as she’d expected. "I heard you say you were chased from near Valoria City by a horde of zombies? To be honest, I escaped from Valoria City myself."

Flora Bloom’s face flushed, feeling as though she’d been caught in a lie.

"But that was back when the apocalypse had just started. I brought a few of my guys all the way here to Aethelgard City and we settled down. How is Valoria City holding up now?"

The mud caked on Flora Bloom’s face hid her awkward expression. She cleared her throat softly and said, "I don’t know the details. We were hiding in the suburbs on the outskirts of Valoria City. Then, a High-level zombie found our hiding spot and led a horde after us. We fled in a panic without watching where we were going.

I never expected we’d end up here."

The six-person squad exchanged glances, their faces lighting up with excitement.

"Since you’ve made it here, I assume you don’t have a place to stay. How about this? Come back to Aethelgard Base with us. Our place isn’t great, but at least it’s a roof over your heads!"

Flora Bloom put on a thrilled expression. "Really? Thank you so much!"

"Psh! Don’t mention it! You saved us twice. We didn’t even know how we could ever repay you!" Melanie Lawson smiled, revealing two small dimples that made her look quite charming.

"By the way, Flora Bloom, your Water Ability is amazing! How did you make it turn into mist and then form those splashes? The Water Ability Users at the base can only create water. Even the High-level Superpower Users have no combat abilities at all.

Do you have some sort of secret technique?"

"Six, that’s enough! Your girlfriend is a lazy freeloader. Other Water Ability Users at a High-level can supply a whole team with water, but her? She’s nothing but a spoiled princess who expects everyone to cater to her!"

"That’s a bit harsh!"

The six-person squad continued to chatter aimlessly when Polly, who was resting on Flora Bloom’s shoulder, suddenly called out softly.

"Mama, Mama!"

Flora Bloom patted Polly’s head. "What is it, Polly? Are you hungry?" She habitually sent her consciousness into her space to find some milk.

But after searching for a while, all she found was an iron-eating beast cub, covered in white fluff, fast asleep amidst a pile of empty cans.

Those cans were the milk Flora Bloom had prepared for Polly. Polly had been weaned at six months and had been on milk ever since; it was essential for her. She had already grown several teeth and was barely eating any solid food anymore.

’Sigh, now that it’s gone, I’ll have to find time to milk some more and stock up.’ She subconsciously glanced toward the cowshed. The sight nearly made Flora Bloom curse aloud.

The big dairy cow, usually fat and healthy from eating the wheat, soybeans, and grass in her space, was completely shriveled up, as if it had been sucked dry!

’This is unacceptable!’

Flora Bloom immediately used her control over the space to forbid the bottomless-pit of an iron-eating beast cub from drinking any more milk, then placed a pile of wheat that had been soaked in spiritual water into the cowshed.

Strangely, the cow fell asleep after just two bites of the wheat. Flora Bloom could sense that it seemed utterly exhausted.

’Of course it was exhausted, having been milked completely dry!’

But then, a change occurred.

A yellow light emanated from the Tree of Life by the nearby mountain range. One beam shot out and struck the cow, while another hit the soundly sleeping iron-eating beast cub.

After being enveloped by the light, the cow’s body quickly returned to its plump state. Meanwhile, when the light enveloped the little cub, it reached out in its sleep, grabbed the beam with its small paw, and started gnawing on it. In just a few bites, it had eaten the entire beam of light.

That sliver of light contained a dense life force. After the little cub ate it, its body changed noticeably. The white fluff all over its body grew thicker, completely concealing its pink skin.

Not only that, but the fur around its eyes, on its ears, and on its limbs began to change color, turning black and revealing all the distinct markings of an iron-eating beast.

’Holy cow. Not only did this little guy drink a cow dry, it also finished off all of Polly’s "snacks." And if that wasn’t enough, it actually grabbed the life force—a visible but intangible energy—and chewed it up like a gummy bear.’

’This isn’t an iron-eating beast, this is a glutton that will devour anything it comes across!’

Flora Bloom’s mind was wandering, and she was only pulled back when Polly tugged on her hair, yanking her Divine Sense back to reality.

"Mama!"

Flora Bloom answered again, "Ouch, sweetie, please don’t pull my hair!" As she pulled back her dirty strands, her eyes happened to follow Polly’s bright, wide-eyed gaze.

Over a hundred meters away, behind a dense bamboo forest, the iron-eating beast revealed half of its enormous, furry head, seemingly spying on them.

’Oh-ho! And here I thought that thing had left! I can’t believe it’s stalking us!’

However, Flora Bloom had more important things to do right now and didn’t have time to mess with this iron-eating beast. Given its power, it would be difficult for anyone below the Cosmic Level to subdue it. ’Eventually,’ she thought, ’this beast that spat on me will fall into my hands!’
