Chapter 413 - 363: The Unreliable Golden Crow
Chapter 413: Chapter 363: The Unreliable Golden Crow
At this moment, Flora Bloom was in her space, standing beside the wisp of Faye’s spiritual power with two little rascals who had reverted to their original forms.
After entering Flora Bloom’s space, the two chubby groundhog cubs gleefully took off, running wild all over the place.
One moment, they were dashing into the river to catch fish; the next, they were in the sea, scooping up pearl oysters. Then they’d go off to the mountain range to pester a nesting gyrfalcon, only to appear in her fields moments later, chomping on vegetables. In short, they were having the time of their lives, utterly oblivious to the feelings of their mother and Flora Bloom, their unwitting master.
And so, Flora Bloom and the wisp of spiritual power stared each other down for over half an hour. Suddenly, as if she had conceded, Faye let out a sigh.
"Sigh... I’m not happy that my children have become your Contracted Beasts, but at least they’re safe here."
"Flora Bloom, I need you to promise me that no matter what happens, you will do everything you can to protect them. All right?"
Flora Bloom was a little unsettled by the sudden shift to a serious tone. "Faye, isn’t there any way to break the contract?"
The eyes of Faye’s spiritual form were vacant and bewildered, then they suddenly turned strange.
"There is. If the Divine Soul of the contract’s master is utterly destroyed, the contract will automatically dissolve."
A shiver ran down Flora Bloom’s spine under Faye’s gaze. "Don’t look at me like that! I might want to break the contract with your two kids, but I don’t want to die! When it’s a choice between life and death, I’ll always choose life!"
Faye shot Flora Bloom a furious glare, then her wisp of spiritual power drifted toward the two large groundhogs in their original forms.
Just then, the Golden Crow suddenly flew over from the other side of the mountain range. Something red and glowing with fire fell from its beak.
Flora Bloom took a closer look, and goosebumps instantly erupted all over her skin. ’Isn’t this little red, flaming bug one of those ladybug-like things from that swarm the wretched Golden Crow attracted back in the world within the Earth Core Fire?’
’I never touched these things. How did one get into my space?’
"Where did this bug come from?" Flora Bloom demanded, watching the Golden Crow, who looked incredibly shifty-eyed and guilty. She tried her best to recall the events of that day.
She remembered putting it directly into her space to save its life.
Flora Bloom looked at the Golden Crow with suspicion. "Let me ask you something. Back then, why were those flaming ladybugs chasing you so relentlessly?"
Seeing its master looking at it with an all-knowing gaze, the Golden Crow had no choice but to stammer out an explanation.
"I... I stole the Fire Ladybugs’ eggs. But I only took a few! I swear!"
Flora Bloom felt an overwhelming urge to crack open the Golden Crow’s skull and see what in the world was rattling around in there. ’We were nearly wiped out by that swarm of flaming ladybugs in the Earth Core Fire, and it was all because this idiot stole their eggs?’
But that was all in the past, and what was done was done. Flora Bloom couldn’t be bothered to rake up old coals.
"What’s so great about these eggs? And why did you bring them into my space? I hate bugs!"
"Master, Master! These Fire Ladybugs are one of the Golden Crow clan’s favorite foods! Plus, eating them can speed up my growth and increase my power! The Fire Ladybugs are of the Fire Element, born and bred in the Earth Core Fire. And while the Earth Core Fire is nothing compared to my clan’s unique True Sun Fire, on a resource-poor planet like Earth, it’s more than enough!"
Prompted by the Golden Crow’s words, Flora Bloom immediately did a thorough inspection of all the plants, animals, and items in her space.
What she saw left her utterly stunned.
Under the leaves of the wheat in the center of the Spirit Field were countless, densely packed red eggs. The sight made Flora Bloom’s skin crawl, and she felt an intense urge to throw every last one of them out of her space.
But when she remembered that they were crucial for the Golden Crow’s growth, Flora Bloom swallowed her revulsion and transplanted all the egg-covered wheat stalks to an empty patch of land behind the mountain range.
Then, she replanted wheat in the newly cleared section of the Spirit Field.
Back when she was gathering supplies, Flora Bloom had only managed to collect wheat seeds. And while wheat could be used to make wine and flour, it was no substitute for rice.
Now, her rice supply in the space was running low. A person could get tired of eating wheat-based foods all the time. It seemed she would have to contact Lex Cross and his group and ask them to find some rice seeds for her before they returned.
After dealing with the Fire Ladybug eggs, Flora Bloom discovered something else in her space—a pleasant surprise.
Within one of the five mountain ranges, a vein of something that looked like a ruby had appeared deep inside the rock.
Moreover, this ruby-like gemstone was emitting the same energy magnetic field as the Energy Gemstones she had previously brought into her space. The energy it contained was identical in quality to the very best Energy Gemstone Flora Bloom kept in her thatched hut.
