Chapter 412: Chapter 362: The Mistaken Contract (3)
Flora Bloom stood dazed in the hallway for a long time. ’So my room isn’t even mine anymore?’
Refusing to accept it, Flora Bloom pushed the door open again. The moment the two little ones saw her return, they immediately sat up, pointed at her, and started squealing, "SQUEAK! SQUEAK! SQUEAK!"
"Listen here, this is my room! You two little gremlins, go find your own room to sleep in!"
Apparently hearing the commotion upstairs, Jade ran up. When she saw Flora Bloom butting heads with the two adorable, doll-like children, she found it incredibly amusing.
"Why are you getting so worked up over two children? Come on, Moon, Star, how about we go to Grandma’s room?"
"Exactly. My children are still so little. Have you no shame?" From within the space, the wisp of Faye’s spiritual power suddenly spoke, startling Flora Bloom.
Flora Bloom was just about to retort when the two little ones’ eyes widened, flashing with a strange light. They suddenly leaped up and threw themselves into her arms, indistinctly crying out, "Mama!"
Startled, Flora Bloom quickly hoisted the two little ones up and held them at arm’s length. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, I’m not your mama! Your mom’s spiritual power may be in my space, but she isn’t! Don’t go around claiming random people as your family!"
Within Flora Bloom’s inner space, Faye sensed the children’s emotional turmoil and was deeply moved, feeling a faint sense of sorrow.
Jade tried to coax the children while attempting to pull them off Flora Bloom.
But these two little ones, who looked younger than three and were merely pint-sized, possessed surprising strength. They each clung to one of Flora Bloom’s arms, gripping so tightly it made them ache.
"Hey, hey, hey, that’s enough! If you keep grabbing me like this, don’t blame me for playing rough!"
It would have been better if Flora Bloom had kept quiet. The moment the words left her mouth, the two little ones burst into loud sobs, looking utterly pitiful.
"Fine. What on earth did I do to deserve this? Let go, you two!"
RRRRIP! The sound of tearing fabric echoed as both sleeves were ripped clean off the shoulders of Flora Bloom’s shirt.
At the same time, bloody scratches from the two little tykes appeared on her arms.
"Damn it all! I can fight zombies without getting a single scratch, but I get injured by your two hellions! Aren’t you going to do something about them?!"
Faye had no choice. A portion of her spiritual power drifted out of Flora Bloom’s space to envelop her two children, as if soothing them and telling them something. Sure enough, calmed by her spiritual power, the two little ones became much quieter.
Sensing their mother’s spiritual power, the two little ones suddenly felt as if they were back in her embrace, filled with her familiar scent and a complete sense of security.
Flora Bloom breathed a sigh of relief, and so did Faye. Just when Faye thought her children would finally stop their fussing, she withdrew her spiritual power back into Flora Bloom’s space to conserve it.
If she consumed too much spiritual power, the consciousness she had tied to this wisp would dissipate. At that point, she would no longer be able to watch over her children.
But the instant her spiritual power returned to Flora Bloom’s space, the two children started crying and fussing all over again.
This time, their tantrum was even more ferocious. The hands of the two little ones transformed into rodent-like claws, instantly covering Flora Bloom’s arms in bloody scratches and wounds.
"Sigh... I’ll have to trouble you, Flora Bloom."
’A million "what the fucks" were running through Flora Bloom’s mind. She was forcibly saddled with two hellions, and there was nothing she could do but let them run wild?’
The two little ones felt their mother’s familiar spiritual power enter the body of the woman before them. Being so young, they couldn’t yet distinguish right from wrong. When they were unhappy, they threw a fit; when they missed their mama, they followed her scent.
This woman was filled with the essence of their mother. And so, a black mark shaped like the character for "Illusion" appeared on each of the little ones’ foreheads. It shot into the vortex of Flora Bloom’s undefended Sea of Consciousness, branding itself directly onto the pure white cloud within.
Flora Bloom froze.
’This familiar scene... someone please tell me this isn’t real.’
It wasn’t just Flora Bloom; even the wisp of Faye’s spiritual power within the space was too stunned to react for a moment.
"What in the hell is wrong with these children?! How could they acknowledge such a weak human as their master?! I’m so pissed! I’m absolutely furious!"
Flora Bloom, for her part, was also stunned speechless. ’Acknowledge a master? These two hellions not only mistook me for their mom, but now they’ve bound themselves to me as their master!’
Flora Bloom listened speechlessly to Faye’s tirade of curses. ’It’s not like I had a choice in the matter, either!’ she thought.
’And what kind of contract was this? It’s a goddamn master-servant contract! The kind of contractual mark that won’t disappear no matter how many lifetimes these two little trolls are reincarnated!’
Faye’s wisp of spiritual power trembled with rage inside Flora Bloom’s space. She glared at Flora Bloom, her voice dripping with venom. "Fine. Just fine, Flora Bloom! You actually signed a master-servant contract with my children! Do you have a death wish?!"
Feeling both wronged and furious, Flora Bloom shot back, "Who was it that dumped these hellions here in the first place? Do you think I wanted this contract? They initiated it! How the hell was I supposed to refuse?"
