“Congratulations on clearing the first trial. In the next trial, your body will be tempered by lightning. Each time you succeed, a step will be created in the passageway. The sturdiness of the step will be determined by the intensity of the tempering.
“You’ll have to complete all the steps to enter the passageway. If you reach the top and sit on the throne, you’ll obtain God’s Era’s power. If your tempering is imperfect, the steps may break and fail to reach the top, resulting in your failure.
“Even if you fail the trial, you still have to undergo all the tempering before you’re allowed to leave. There is a possibility you may die. You have a choice now. If you give up now, you’ll be allowed to leave safely, but your sword key will be destroyed, and you won’t be able to enter God’s Era ever again.

Those words had come from space, and they harnessed tremendous power that shook the realm. Perhaps, they might have been from God’s Era itself.
“Elder, may I know what is God’s Era’s final power? Will it advance my cultivation?” Chu Feng asked.
The previous trial suggested that God’s Era’s final power enhanced one’s bloodline, but Chu Feng’s bloodline was already strong enough. He doubted that there was a need to enhance it further.
Rather, he was more concerned about the progression of his cultivation.
He needed to enter Heavenly God as soon as possible, and it would be ideal if he could advance to rank two or rank three Heavenly God right away. That would allow him to defeat Jie Tianran and overcome his present quandary.
If God’s Era only enhanced his bloodline and not his cultivation, even if his fighting prowess rose, it would still be nowhere near enough for him to turn the tables around.
“What’s your decision? Will you challenge the trial or leave?” the voice asked impatiently.
Seeing that he wouldn’t get an answer, Chu Feng replied, “I’ll take the challenge.”

Blue lightning crackled menacingly from space. There were only several bolts at first, but the frightening prowess they harnessed made Chu Feng shudder. Every bolt harnessed destructive might greater than the nine-colored lightning he faced whenever he made a breakthrough.
In the blink of an eye, the sky was already covered in thick, blue lightning bolts.
“Chu Feng, those lightning bolts aren’t as simple as they look. Are you sure you can handle them? Why don’t we just give up? There are other ways to deal with Jie Tianran. We don’t have to put our lives on the line here.”
Even Eggy panicked before this immense force.
“The shot has been fired. There’s no turning back. Besides, I think it’s a good thing that the tempering is potent. This fulfills my expectations of God’s Era,” Chu Feng replied confidently.

As if provoked by Chu Feng’s confidence, a lightning bolt descended from the sky and struck Chu Feng’s body, vaporizing his clothes. Chu Feng collapsed to the ground, his skin torn open to reveal his flesh. His body stiffened, and he was in so much pain that he couldn’t even speak.
The blue lightning was indeed different from the nine-colored lightning.
The nine-colored lightning was more of a trial than an attack, which was partly why Chu Feng had always been able to withstand its prowess. In contrast, the blue lightning harnessed pure destructive might that threatened to claim his life if he lowered his guard in the slightest.
“Are you fine, Chu Feng? Can we still give up now? Let’s give up, all right?” Eggy exclaimed worriedly.
To her dismay, she couldn’t open the World Spirit Space’s gate. She could only watch helplessly as Chu Feng suffered.
Chu Feng was also dazed by the lightning strike. He wondered if he had overestimated himself. If this was only the first bolt, he couldn’t imagine surviving the trial.
But then, a blue aura appeared in his body. The lingering energy of the blue lightning bolt had seeped into his body, healing his wounds and removing the searing sensation engulfing him.
Chu Feng regained his mobility. Moreover, he noticed that his body and soul had gotten stronger than before.
Needless to say, he was thrilled. He leaped to his feet and shouted, “Exhilarating!”
Boom!
The blue lightning seemed to take his shout as a provocation, and it struck him with another lightning bolt.
Once again, Chu Feng collapsed to the ground. He didn’t fare any better than before.
“Hahaha! Interesting!”
Yet, he laughed manically.
He had always been able to accomplish feats that others struggled with due to his superior talent. Even when faced with the most terrifying nine-colored lightning tribulation in the world, he still slowly grew accustomed to it. It was still painful, but he had no doubt about his survival.
But it was different this time.
The blue lightning made him feel small and insignificant. He realized that, despite his outstanding talent, he was still nothing in the face of absolute power.
This realization didn’t drive Chu Feng into despair; instead, he welcomed and celebrated it. Challenges had always excited him.
Eggy also stopped trying to dissuade Chu Feng. She could already tell from his voice that he would grit his teeth and get through this tempering no matter how difficult it was.
More blue lightning bolts descended.
Chu Feng realized that he was recovering at a faster speed. He still struggled to get to his feet, but he now had some spare time to look around before the next lightning bolt struck him.
He looked at the passageway linking his gate to the top of God’s Era’s silhouette. Steps that glowed with a nine-colored light had begun appearing at the bottom of the passageway. There were only several steps, but they looked sturdy.
“Why do the steps look so dim? Is it not perfect enough?” Eggy asked worriedly.
Chu Feng was not bothered about that. He looked at the sky and shouted, “Give me something stronger!”
Boom!
Another lightning bolt descended, slamming him back into the ground and ripping through his flesh.

Meanwhile, Jie Tianran was sitting in a room identical to the one Chu Feng had been in earlier. He finally opened his eyes, but his gaze reflected not just happiness but fatigue as well.
