Chapter 95: Agreements
"Now my dear husband, kiss me good night."
Li Xian could hardly believe his ears and all he was able to do was stare in shock at the woman who had been toiling with his emotions ever since she returned from her late-night market visit.
"K-kiss you...?" He found himself asking as if he wanted to confirm that he wasn’t just hearing things.
"En!" Xiang Ling nodded her head in the positive but when Li Xian made no move to fulfill her demand, she asked, "Why? You don’t want to?"
Li Xian remained still and continued to look at her. His lips parted slightly before closing without saying anything. Looking into his eyes, Xiang Ling could tell that there were numerous emotions and thoughts brewing in his brain and she wanted to have a peek at them. However, even if she had the ability to listen to his thoughts, she refrained herself from doing so. She couldn’t invade his privacy like that.
They both fell into a deep and long silence after that and just stared into each other’s eyes without saying or doing anything. Xiang Ling didn’t tease him anymore nor did she bring up the topic of kissing again. After a while, she started feeling a little drowsy and decided to just sleep since her mortal body was past the limit of feeling tired.
But as she tilted her head to take a quick look at Li Xian, she was surprised to find the man’s eyes fixed on her. She opened her mouth to tell him to sleep when the surprise came. He leaned in, closing the space between their faces, and his lips brushed against hers in a tender caress.
Time seized as the two shared their very first kiss, a brief touch of their lips before Li Xian pulled his face back to look at her. He searched her eyes as if looking for something and all that he found in them was acceptance and desire for more. With a little groan, he once again pressed his lips against hers.
Heat invaded every cell in Xiang Ling’s body and she groaned against him, distantly aware of one of her hands threading through his soft silver strands. The kiss was just as sweet as she expected. Their lips moved in perfect sync, teasing and tasting each other. The kiss lasted for a while before the two of them finally pulled away.
"That was sweet." Xiang Ling commented after a while to break the silence and her words made Li Xian chuckle softly before he placed a soft kiss on her forehead and pulled her closer in his arms. "Sleep now, wife."
And Xiang Ling indeed fell asleep in no time while held in his protective and warm embrace.

Xiang Ling finished her tea before she stood up from her seat and decided to head back inside the manor. She had been supervising the servants as they worked in the greenhouse. It had been nearly two weeks since they planted the seeds and little plants had already taken their places all around the greenhouse. The progress was even better than what she had anticipated.
Satisfied with the status of the greenhouse, she returned to the Main Hall where Xiao Mei and Xiao Hao were cleaning the floor.
"How long before you both will be done with your work?" She asked the two teenagers who immediately greeted her when they noticed her stepping inside the Main Hall.
"My Lady, we are almost done. Do you have any other tasks for us?" Xiao Mei enquired.
"It’s good if you have already finished your work. Tidy up and follow me." She told the two before she turned around and walked out of the building. Both the young servants quickly did what they were told and hurried after their lady.
Once they reached her courtyard, Xiang Ling settled down under the pavilion built in the outer courtyard and faced the two teenagers. She studied them quickly before signaling them to step closer. She surprised them when she suddenly took hold of their wrists and started reading their pulse. The two teenagers shared glances between them, but otherwise remained silent and still.
"You both have healthy bodies and you two are also at a good age. Even though many will consider it quite late, I know for sure that I can guide you both perfectly to the peak." Xiang Ling’s words only confused the two of them even further as they failed to understand what their lady was talking about.
"Xiao Mei, Xiao Hao, do you both want to learn cultivation?" Xiang Ling presented the offer before the two teenagers who were too stunned to speak at all.
"My Lady, are you... are you serious about this...?" Xiao Hao finally dared to ask as he was having a hard time believing his ears.
Xiang Ling gave the fourteen-year-old a soft smile before she spoke, "Of course, I’m serious. Have you ever seen me joking around with such important matters?"
When the two shook their heads in denial, she continued, "I’m genuinely offering you both the rarest opportunity to cultivate immortality. I will personally teach you and guide you through your cultivation journey. But I have a condition if you choose to accept this offer."
The two teenagers once again shared a glance before Xiao Hao asked, "What is your condition, My Lady?"
Xiang Ling took out two divine scrolls from her space and placed them on the table sitting in front of her. "The content here is regarding an agreement between you two and Chen Xiang Ling. If you agree to pursue cultivation under my guidance, you have to give your promises that you two will always guard and protect the Chen family in the future with your lives."
She stopped for a moment to let her words sink before continuing, "Of course, the two of you can still marry and have your own families in the future but they will also become a part of the Chen family and work for them. Unless someday in the future when the Chen family will no longer be kind and rightful, you two and your families will be bound to them with these agreements."
