Chapter 333: Finding a Solution (II)
Chapter 333: Finding a Solution (II)
"Nothing will happen." Xu Wei protested desperately. "The Shadow Lord only wants to win and rule all the Realms. He will not go around killing everyone after defeating the Upper Realms’ army. Nothing will happen to you as long as you will stay out of this matter."
Xiang Ling let out a deep sigh. Xu Wei was so admanant on stopping her from getting involved in the war. And while she understood and appreciated his fear and care for her well-being, she couldn’t detach herself from the war. Not anymore.
"Thank you, Ah Wei. Thank you so much for caring about me. I will not make a fake promise to you about staying out of the war. But I can promise you that I will try my best to keep myself safe." She spoke softly, worried about hurting his feelings.
"Master-"
"Ah Wei," she spoke before he could continue with his protests. "Make sure to protect yourself. I have made up my mind and I will not change my decision. Don’t follow your Master’s stupid plan and live peacefully."
She stepped away from him and cast a spell, surrounding him with a ward that stopped him from following her.
"I’m your Master, Ah Wei. Let me do my job and protect you... and all my loved ones." She spoke through a smile before she walked away, leaving behind a protesting Xu Wei.
He called after her, trying to stop her, but she didn’t turn back even once.
After she left and his calls died down, the tears finally spilled from his eyes as he stared at the space where his Master was standing just moments ago.
"Why?" He asked out to no one in particular, his voice but a mere whisper. "Why do you have to pick a side? Why... you have to choose them?"
His usual dark eyes started darkening even more, a fire seemed to be blazing in their very depth and misery was all that could be seen in them.
"Why it has to be like this?"

Xiang Ling appeared outside the north high tower of Heavenly Palace. She used the shadows as she swiftly slipped inside the building without altering the guards stationed outside.
It was easy for her to slip past the wards and the stationed guards, making her way to the top of the tower. And it was easy not because the wards or the patrolling guards were weak, but because she had grown powerful ever since she finished her life tribulation.
Moments later, she finally made it to the top floor that was filled with darkness. The only light coming was from the moon that was shining brightly during this dark hour of the night.
Without wasting any time, she started looking through the shelves of ancient books and scrolls, covered in cobwebs and heavy layer of dust.
She probably forgot to stay silent during her search as halfway through it, the room suddenly got filled with bright light, forcing her to immediately turn around and face the one who just stepped into the forbidden zone.
And she found a night guard standing there with a lantern in his hand. He seemed surprised as he recognized her, and also alert considering his other hand had already made its way to his sword hanging from his waist.
"High Immortal Xing, what are you doing here? How did you come here?" He asked, his gaze shifting around the room to find if she had company. "Do you have permission from the Emperor or the Empress?"
"I..."
"If you have it then show it to me, or I will have to call the other guards to bring you in front of the Majesties for your crime of trespassing into the forbidden zone." The guard warned, his fingers curling around the hilt of his sword.
"Wait!"
She barely whisper shouted the word when she saw the guard getting hit on his neck from behind and falling on the ground.
Her shocked gaze found Su LiangLin standing right behind the now unconscious night guard.
"What have you done?" She whisper shouted at the woman. "I might get punished for trespassing into forbidden zone, but you will face far worse for attacking one of our own."
"Only when anyone will find out what I have done." Supreme Immortal Lin replied as she crouched down next to the unconscious night guard and started casting a spell.
One look and Xiang Ling recognized the spell. Moving forward, she crouched down next the duo and added her spiritual energy in the spell.
"Let me help. It will make the spell much stronger." She offered when Su LiangLin’s gaze shifted toward her.
They completed the spell and teleported the man to the ground floor of the tower where his companions found him dozing off during his duty hours moments later. The spell erased his memories about finding Xiang Ling or getting attacked.
"What are you doing here?" Xiang Ling asked the Supreme Immortal who had appeared there out of nowhere and even helped her.
Su LiangLin started looking through the collection of books and scrolls as she replied, "To help you find whatever you are looking for."
"Why?" Xiang Ling demanded, not yet trusting the woman who had been more of a nemesis to her than a friend.
"Because I don’t want that Shadow Lord to win. I don’t want to lose Wu Tian." She added the last part in a soft whisper.
"You are in love with him." Xiang Ling announced with surprise as realization hit her.
Su LiangLin stopped her search and returned - "Just like you are in love with that harem of your lovers. See, we got a similar reason to make this war stop before anything goes gravely wrong."
Xiang Ling let out a small sigh and just accepted the fact that the two of them were once again going to work together despite their odds.
"Wait! What am I even supposed to look for?" Su LiangLin asked when she realized that she had been searching without any context for what to look for.
