Chapter 330: Xiang Ling’s Decision
"You can’t be thinking about keeping him here!"
Xiang Ling stared at Little Pink who was giving her a very judgemental and unimpressed look. After witnessing the little creature’s reaction toward her decision, she didn’t even want to break the news to the men in her life.
"Master, you can’t keep Xu Wei here." Little Pink declared in a strict tone.
A deep sigh escaped Xiang Ling as she tried to make the little thing understand her decision. "I know that you are worried about me. But I can’t abandon Ah Wei. He has no family, no friends... only me. Since he’s so determined to stay by my side, I can’t make him suffer any more than he already has."
In response, she heard a very loud and clear scoff from Little Pink.
"You sure are something. Pretending like you aren’t aware of the consequences of your decision." The creature muttered in clear annoyance.
"I know-"
Xiang Ling didn’t get to speak more than two words before Little Pink started reciting the consequences of her decision in great details.
"Master, we both know how things works in Upper Realms. No matter how pure and innocent Xu Wei is, he’s still a demon. And demons are not welcomed in the Upper Realms. Neither as guests, nor as slaves even. You just got involved in such a big matter days ago and barely survived. But now you are already giving those people another chance to point their fingers at you."
Xiang Ling knew that Little Pink was speaking the truth and her decision of keeping Xu Wei in the Celestial Realm was a big deal. Yet, she couldn’t find it in herself to send the young man away.
"Little Pink, I know that you are worried for me, and I really appreciate that. But Xu Wei is like a little brother to me. I can’t turn a blind eye to him just because I’m worried about myself. I. Will. Not. Abandon him."
She punctuated the words loudly, making it clear to Little Pink that they were ending the discussion.
Once again, the creature let out a frustrated sigh as if she was so done with her Master.
"Whatever. Your men will deal with you later." She commented and without waiting to hear Xiang Ling’s response, she flew away.
On the other hand, Xiang Ling felt a headache throbbing the pulse in her temples as she thought about how she was going to deal with the men. But before that, she needed to meet them first.
It had been hours since the morning court was dismissed and the men followed the Heavenly Emperor and the Empress for another meeting. Still, there was no sign of any of the six of them.
Stepping out of the Spatial Realm, she found herself in the back courtyard of her palace. The sun was high in the sky, showering the landscape of Heavenly Realm with its golden light.
All she could see was the beauty and the peace that resided over the Realm. And yet, she knew that neither the beauty nor the peace was going to last much longer if they failed in stopping the Shadow Lord.
These days, she had found herself wondering about what the Shadow Lord was seeking through the war that he and his army were bringing.
Did he want revenge against the upper realms for what they did to him? Or did he still want to rule over the five realms and revive the Shadow Realm?
She was filled with questions, but there was only one person in the entire world who could provide her with the answers - the Shadow Lord himself.
She was still lost in her thoughts when her sharp hearing picked the sound of someone entering the backyard.
She didn’t even need to turn around to know that it was the six of them. Her heart leaped with happiness to finally have some private time with them. But she stayed silent and kept her gaze glued to the horizon.
The footsteps reached closer until she felt someone stepping behind her. Merely a moment later, she felt a pair of hands snaking around her waist from behind.
The man hugged her, snuggling his face in her hair before he inhaled her familiar scent. Just by the warmth of his embrace and his touch, she was able to tell that it was Zhe Yuan.
"Why am I sensing a demon’s presence here?" Li Xian asked as his icy eyes darted around the courtyard.
As soon as he voiced out the question, all the remaining men also became alert. The only person among them who appeared calmer compared to others was Zhang Xuan.
"I’m sure our dear High Immortal Xing has something to share with us." The God of Life stated while giving her a knowing look.
Just as she was expecting, he seemed to be already aware of what she had done. Pulling out of Zhe Yuan’s arms, she turned to face the six of them before she confessed.
For next two or three minutes, she was the only one speaking while the six men listened in silence. But once she stopped, it were the men speaking and her listening in silence.
They reminded her of all the possibile problems and punishments that awaited her decision. Yet, she made it pretty obvious that she had no intentions of changing her decision.
After debating for nearly twenty minutes, they finally ended up giving on her just like Little Pink did.
"You should hide his demonic breath if you want to keep him here. Make sure that no one finds out about him beside the seven of us and your familiars." Wei Guang reminded her and she immediately nodded her head in understanding.
Once they had solved the matter, the seven of them headed inside her Spatial Ring to talk about exactly what kind of meeting they attended with the Heavenly Emperor and the Empress.
"We are setting out for war." Xin Cheng announced the moment they all stepped inside the warmth and protection of her Summer Cottage.
