Chapter 329: Her Stupid Follower
Chapter 329: Her Stupid Follower
Xiang Ling watched as the man finally stirred a little. She waited patiently until his eyes finally fluttered open and adjusted to the dim brightness that was filling the bath chamber.
"M-master?"
He called out with his eyes full of surprise and unsurity. It was almost like he was having a hard time believing that she was indeed sitting in front of him - alive.
"Don’t call me that!" Xiang Ling stated in a cold tone and with a fierce look that had the man shrinking back in the bathtub.
She took a few more moments to glare at him and watched as he became more and more confused and worried about her cold behavior toward him.
After what seemed like a long while, Xu Wei finally mustered up enough courage to speak again. "Master, did I do something wrong?"
Xiang Ling kept staring at him for a while, taking in his confused and aggrieved expression. The way he was looking at her almost made her feel like she was bullying him.
Letting out a sigh, she finally replied to his question, struggling to keep the anger out of her voice. "You seriously think you did nothing wrong? What are you even doing here?"
A look of pure sadness appeared on his face once he heard her question. With his gaze fixed on the floor, he answered in a barely audible voice. "I wanted to see you."
"Who told you I’m here?" She demanded, not showing him any sort of softness even when she noticed just how hurt he appeared by her harsh tone.
"I... I already knew that you were an immortal. So, I wandered around the shore of North Sea Realm, looking for any information regarding the Upper Realms..." Xu Wei started explaining.
"... From there I heard rumors about the High Immortal Xing and her completion of the life tribulation. There were also news about the Celestial King and the Crown Prince. I wasn’t sure whether you were the High Immortal Xing or not, but I needed to check it personally to confirm. So... I came here."
He finally looked up from the floor and fixed his soft gaze on her face. "I wasn’t really expecting to find you here. I’m so happy that I came here."
Ignoring the softness that started seeping into her heart, she continued with her questions - "How did you manage to enter through the realm’s ancient ward without alerting anyone?"
"I used all my saved money to buy a booster shielding pill." He answered with a bright smile on his lips. He was clearly proud of what he had done.
Feeling exasperated at his stupidity, she flicked him on his forehead, resulting in him crying out from the sharp pain.
"Master!"
Xu Wei stared at her with his eyes wide open.
"Who told you to look for me? Once you learnt of my death in the Mortal Realm, you should have continued with your life. I told you that you could either stay in the Chen Manor and continue working there, or leave the manor and find some other place to live a peaceful life. Why didn’t you listen to me? Don’t you know how dangerous it is for you to be here-"
She didn’t get to finish reprimanding him as he suddenly reached out for her and drew her into his arms.
It took her a while to get out of the initial shock. "Ah Wei! You are drenching me-" The rest of the protest died on her tongue when she registered that the young man was crying.
At first, she thought it was water droplets trickling down her shoulder. But when she felt his body heaving and heard his barely audible sobbing, she was left completely stunned.
Worried, she tried to pull out of his arms to get a look at him, but he kept his hold tight on her and didn’t allow her to pull out from the hug.
"Ah Wei, are you sad because I talked to you harshly just now?" She asked, trying to understand if her cold words caused him so much pain that he actually ended up bursting into tears.
Despite him being wet, she wrapped her hand around him and started patting his back softly, trying to soothe him. "I’m sorry, Ah Wei. I didn’t mean to make you sad. I’m just worried about you. I don’t want you to get into trouble because of me."
Xue Wei tightened his hold on her as he continued crying. She wasn’t sure for how long he cried. But she kept rubbing his back and patting his head. After several long moments, he finally calmed down and pulled back from the hug.
She wiped away the traces of his tears and watched as he took hold of both her hands and pressed his chin over them.
"You can reprimand me as much as you want. You are the only person in this world who can beat me to death and I will not complain even in the slightest."
Surprised by his statement, she just stared at him in shock. She knew that he respected her a lot and was loyal to her, but it seemed like she really underestimated his feelings. He was like a stupid follower of hers.
"Ah Wei, I don’t want you to die. I want you to live for a long time, healthy and happy." She told him.
"Then let me stay by your side, Master. You are my only family in this vast world. I want to stay by your side for the rest of my life. Let me serve you for as long as I’m alive. Please."
Before she could have reasoned with him about how and why his request wasn’t possible for her to grant, he added - "I can stay inside you Spatial Realm for the rest of my life. I will never appear in front of any Immortal or will cause you any trouble. Please don’t send me away, Master. Don’t discard me."
