Chapter 310: Celestial Island
Chapter 310: Celestial Island
In the depths of Celestial Realm, a mystical island was located in the middle of the Celestial waterfall. It was hidden from normal sight, and forbidden to anyone who didn’t carry permission from the royals of the High Realm to enter the place.
This enchanting island was charged with a soft, shimmering energy that danced like ethereal fireflies. Spiritual energy was present there in great abundance, making it a perfect spot to cultivate.
The island was a breathtaking tapestry of soft hues of blue and silver. Celestial energy danced around the island, creating visions of different celestial formations made of stars and meteors.
Though this place was usually empty, without any trace of a person, this particular moment there were two people present in there. A very beautiful woman was sitting on the top of a huge rock in lotus position, her eyes closed as she cultivated to establish a balance between her new divine energy and her body.
Her clothes and silky hair fluttered with the soft breeze that was blowing across the island. Divine butterflies made of Spiritual energy danced around her, as if unable to keep themselves away from the ethereal beauty present among them.
While the woman cultivated in silence, a man was sitting opposite her at a little distance, playing a sweet and relaxing melody on zither. The music was so ambient and sweet that it made the spiritual energy, that was present on the island, dance along its melody.
Seconds ticked into minutes and minutes into hours as the two stayed submerged in their respective works, one was cultivating and the other was playing zither. It was not until the outside world was surrounded by the darkness of the night that the woman finally opened her eyes.
Instead of speaking or moving, she just sat there on top of the rock and watched the man as his fingers expertly moved over the strings of the zither, creating a sweet melody that had helped her for hours to cultivate peacefully. The man played for a little bit longer before he finally stopped. With a flick of his sleeve, the zither disappeared and he turned his attention toward her.
"Thank you."
Xiang Ling quickly thanked the man. There were a lot of things she wanted to thank him for. He kept his word and stayed with her during her death in the Mortal Realm. He was the one who helped her in finding her connection with her divine energy back in that room. He was the one who kept her surrounded with his warmth as she took her last breath. He was also there when she returned to the Heavenly Realm, and he also stayed by her side and helped her with his music as she cultivated her newly gained divine energy.
She watched as Zhang Xuan suddenly disappeared from top of the rock where he had been sitting, and appeared on the ground the very next moment. He stared at her with those soft emerald eyes of his before he opened his arms and spoke, "Come here."
Xiang Ling didn’t need to be told twice as she immediately jumped down from the rock and ran straight into his open arms. He surrounded her small frame with his strong, muscular arms and pulled her into his familiar embrace.
"Everything’s alright, Ah Xiang. I’m here with you, and I will stay by your side from now on." He whispered as he softly brushed his fingers through her hair as if to comfort her.
The two remained like that for a while before Xiang Ling finally pulled away and asked, "How long have we been here for?"
"If you want to know how long has it been since you left the Mortal Realm, then it’s been five days." Zhang Xuan provided her with the answer that she was really looking for. He took hold of her hand and pulled her to sit around the stone table that he created with a flick of his sleeve.
Taking a seat beside her, he pulled her hands into his own before continuing, "The Chen family is currently mourning your death, and so are Wei Guang and Li Xian. Xin Cheng, Dao Ming, Zhe Yuan, and I are also there. Wu Tian and Su LiangLin also arrived on the third day to pay their final respects, but they had to leave immediately because of their identities. Wu Ding and Jiang Li are still staying in the Chen Manor for the rest of the mourning days."
Xiang Ling slowly nodded her head in understanding, but her heart became heavy all over again when she thought about the misery that everyone was going to feel from her sudden death. She would have probably spent more time in feeling guilty if not for a sudden realization.
Turning her attention back to the man, she asked, "You just said that you have also joined the others in mourning, but you are here with me." Her genuine confusion made Zhang Xuan chuckle and he lightly tapped on her nose before replying, "Indeed. I’m both here with you and there with your family in my real forms. I can’t possibly go missing in such a situation."
Once again Xiang Ling was shocked by the level of his powers. She had never heard of any Immortal being able to be present in two different Realms in their real forms. Most of the immortals, especially those with thirty thousand or more years of cultivation, could only create their spirit forms. But even though these spirit forms looked similar to their creators, they were easily identified even by mortals because they were made of spiritual energy and as much as a simple finger tap into them could make them vanish.
"Wait! Do you know anything about Xu Wei? Where is he?" She was suddenly reminded of her personal guard and immediately asked of his whereabouts. She was hoping to hear that he was alright and the Shadow Lord hadn’t hurt him.
"Don’t worry. Once you died, the Shadow Lord escaped from that place. He didn’t kill Xu Wei."
