Tall palaces stood on floating mountain peaks, surrounded with clouds. Hundreds of waterfalls were visible around the Realm, all creating beautiful rainbows as warm sunlight passed through the water droplets. Lush, verdant gardens bloomed with vibrant immortal flowers of all colors.
The air was fragrant with the scent of divine lotus and resonated with the soft hum of celestial music. Majestic, ancient trees with lush leaves stood tall throughout the Realm, coloring the place in different shades of green.
Several fairies were busy working around the Divine Portal Platform. Some were cleaning the gardens, some were watering flower plants, others were sweeping the pathways and bridges, and some were just passing by. Everything was silent and serene like normal days.
All of a sudden, the Divine Portal started emitting a light, attracting the attention of all those who were present nearby.
"What’s going on?" Somone asked as they dropped their work and focused on the Divine Portal.
"It seems like one of the Immortals are returning after completing their life tribulations." Another one guessed as such a reaction from the Divine Portal occasionally meant the return of an Immortal.
"Which Immortal can this be? Maybe it’s the Night Immortal."
Everyone liked the idea of witnessing the return of the Celestial King to the Upper Realms. They were also excited because they would finally be getting a glimpse at one of the most powerful and popular High Immortals of the Upper Realms.
"Oh! The Immortal is here!" Someone shouted as the light of the Divine Portal became stronger all of a sudden.
Everyone watched in anticipation as a figure emerged from the Divine Portal. However, the divine energy surrounding them was so strong that no one was able to get a clear look at the face of the Immortal. All of a sudden, a golden light appeared from the sky above and fell directly on the Immortal in the Divine Portal.
"It’s the Golden Light of Fate from the God Realm!"
Someone shouted in shock and gasps of surprise were heard from all the fairies present there. Everyone immediately kneeled down and bowed to the Golden Light of Fate.
"Supreme Immortal Xing has completed her life tribulation with flying colors. She went through several pains and happiness of a mortal’s life, and accepted every situation with open arms. Till the moment of her death, she kept a kind and benevolent heart. She not only erased the grievances of her own life, but also helped many others in changing the courses of their lives for the better. She has left behind a legacy for others to follow in the Mortal Realm. Considering her performance, she is promoted to the position of a High Immortal and will receive ten thousand years worth Divine energy."
A powerful voice descended from the sky and shocked all the listeners. This was the first time in nearly a hundred thousand years that someone was being rewarded by the Golden Light of Fate itself. Not only that, but it was also the first time a star had been promoted to the position of a High Immortal. And if these were already not shocking enough, everyone was having a hard time believing that someone was about to receive ten thousand years of divine energy, something that was unheard of.
Usually, those going through life tribulations recieved divine energy worth of a thousand years when they passed their tribulations with good performances. But here, Supreme Immortal Xing was receiving ten thousand years of divine energy. This huge difference was enough to cause chaos in the hearts and brains of all those who witnessed the moment.
They watched as a powerful golden light surrounded the silhouette of Supreme Immortal Xing, wrapping her in the protective layers of divine energy that started filling her body. It took a while before all the golden light seeped into her body and the sky above returned to normal.
Xiang Ling’s eyes finally flew open as the Divine Portal shoved her out and she swiftly landed on the stone platform surrounding it. She was clad in a glamorous light purple dress made of finest silk. Her hair was styled beautifully with hairpins that dangled across her shoulders. Her body felt light as feather and more powerful than she ever felt before.
"Welcome back High Immortal Xing."
All the fairies greeted her with her new title, welcoming her return. And it was only after hearing their words did she recall what happened right before she returned.
She died.
The memories of her mortal life flooded her head and she felt her eyes stinging with the tears that were ready to spill. Her ears started ringing with the cries of Wei Guang and Li Xian as they watched her dying in front of their eyes. She felt so many regrets as she recalled how she had pushed the two men in danger. Sending them back to the Chen Manor didn’t mean the Shadow Lord wouldn’t be able to find them again. She also forgot about saving Xu Wei as she only focused on saving her husbands in her last moment.
She felt panic taking over her and she was probably on the verge of passing out when a warm feeling filled her entire body and she felt her senses returning to normal.
"Stop overthinking. Everything is alright with Wei Guang and Li Xian. The Heavenly Empress has already taken action to make sure that Shadow Lord will not end up hurting the two. You should worry about yourself at the moment. Your body isn’t able to handle the extra divine energy that you have just consumed."
Zhang Xuan’s familiar voice filled her brain and Xiang Ling felt a sense of relief and happiness taking over her. But before she could have responded, her attention shifted toward the arrival of a very familiar person.
"High Immortal Xing, you are ordered to enter the Celestial Island to cultivate the divine energy you have just recieved. Leave immediately."
