Journey To Become an Insanely Pampered Wife

Chapter 250: Stupid Demon

Chapter 250: Stupid Demon

Zhang Xuan’s words left behind a heavy silence as everyone digested the information. While some barely appeared fazed even after learning about how scary the array was, there were others who barely made any effort to conceal their fear. One such person was Su LiangLin.

The Crown Princess immediately let go of Wu Tian’s sleeve and huried toward Xiang Ling. Once they were standing close enough to whisper, Su LiangLin accused Xiang Ling. "You did this on purpose, didn’t you? You want me to die and fail my life tribulation. That’s what you are trying to do, right?"

In response to this nonsense, Xiang Ling turned her icy gaze at the Crown Princess and whispered back - "Like I care."

Left stunned by the unexpected and cold response, Su LiangLin opened her mouth to retort but never got the chance to do anything more than just opening her mouth as Xiang Ling walked away from her. Feeling unhappy and frustrated, she stomped her feet once before following after the others.

For next couple of minutes, nothing happened as the group kept walking forward. Each one of them was busy observing their surroundings to make sure they wouldn’t be unprepared for the next attack of the array.

Xin Cheng was the first one to stop in his tracks, forcing the others to do so as well. He was the first one to sense the almost unnoticeable vibrations coming from the ground. On the other hand, Xiang Ling was the first one who heard the faint sound of something huge and powerful rolling down from a nearby peak. It didn’t take long for the others to notice the signs as well and they all knew exactly what was happening even before they noticed the first giant snow ball heading straight toward them.

"There are no mountain peaks in this forest. Then where is this avalanche coming from?" Zi Yun shouted in alarm as she found her safe place behind Mo Li as Zhang Xuan burst the snow ball into little fragments of snow with his spiritual energy.

"Have you already forgotten the part where we talked about being trapped within an illusion array?" Su LiangLin asked as she once again clung to Wu Tian.

"We need to move. Right now!" Wei Guang shouted in alarm as he was the first one who noticed the first glimpse of the avalanche that was too close to them.

"Protection shield will do us no good. We need shelter!"

"There. In those cracks in the cliff."

Xiang Ling moved her body to reach out for Wei Guang only for Xin Cheng to grab her wrist as he started running toward the cracks that Wei Guang just pointed out to everyone.

She looked behind her from over her shoulder and only relaxed when she noticed that Wei Guang was in the safe hands of Zhang Xuan as those two men were already about to enter the cracks.

"Ah Ling, careful!"

Zhang Xuan shouted in alarm when he noticed just how close the snow was from burying both Xiang Ling and Xin Cheng.

Xiang Ling’s eyes widened as she noticed the snow right in front of her face, but she never got to face the impact as Xin Cheng turned her around and pushed her toward Zhang Xuan’s waiting arms.

"Ah Cheng!"

She screamed as dread took over her while she watched the snow pulling the man away from her and burying him under its white blanket. She tried to grab him, to go after him and bring him inside the crack but the strong arms, that were wrapped around her waist, refused to let her go.

"Ah Xiang...!"

The cry was painful, desperate, and somewhat hopeful as she expected, or at least hoped, to hear a response from the man. But there was nothing except for the utter silence that took over the forest as the avalanche came to a stop.

Tears burned her eyes and spilled down on her cheeks as all the fight left her body and she just stared at the entrance of the crack that was now covered with snow from top to bottom.

"Stop worrying. You know exactly who he is. An avalanche can’t kill him even in a millenia." Zhang Xuan whispered into her ear as he tightened his hold around her. And while Xiang Ling’s mind knew that Zhang Xuan was speaking the truth, her heart was in no condition to judge properly.

She felt another pair of arms surrounding her and she realized that it was Wei Guang who was hugging her from the side.

Another long moment passed before a powerful force sent the snow covering the entrance of the crack flying, and through it entered Xin Cheng who was covered in snow from head to toe.

The arms around her retracted the very moment Xiang Ling lunged at the Demon Emperor, throwing her hands around him and burying herself in his welcoming embrace.

Neither of the two spoke and just hugged each other to comfort themselves and the other person. The silence didn’t last for too long though as once Xiang Ling pulled away from the hug, she was shouting and screaming at the man while crying at the same time.

"What were you doing? What were you thinking? Have you completely lost your mind? Who told you to save me and overlook your own safety? What if something would have happened to you? What was I supposed to do then-"

Xin Cheng didn’t speak and just pulled her into his arms all over again, hugging her tightly. "I will always protect you over my life, Xiang Ling. And nothing is going to change that. Nothing."

Xiang Ling started crying even more at his words. She thought she was scared when she learnt about the Shadow Lord’s escape from the Abyssal lands, but nothing could compare to the terror she felt when Xin Cheng got covered under that snow.

She tightened her arms around the man’s neck almost to a painful level and stated, "You are a stupid Demon."
