"I’m not listening to any of your excuses this time. Today, you need to step out of this safe place and hunt for a man for yourself. Come now, let me help you get ready so that you can tempt those men out there." Xiang Ling showed no mercy to Xuelin as she made the White Spirit Lion take a herbal bath and scrub every inch of her body and scalp.
She then picked a beautiful white dress for her and now was busy styling her hair and putting on make up for her.
"See? You are looking so pretty." Xiang Ling praised as she looked at a very flustered Xuelin’s reflection in the mirror. The woman indeed was looking so beautiful after dressing up a little bit.
Quickly turning around to face her Master, Xuelin grabbed Xiang Ling’s hands and hurriedly begged. "Master, let’s forget about this. I don’t want to go out among those humans."
This resulted in a sharp glare from Xiang Ling. "Who cares about those humans? Just ignore them. They aren’t the ones you need to focus on. Instead, you need to find only men of your race, and not just any men... those who are powerful, strong, and deserving to be your future-husband candidates. Alright?"
Xuelin opened her mouth and it seemed like she was once again ready to shake her head in opposition of the plan when Xiang Ling silenced her. "I’m not listening to your pleas this time. Every time in the past when I proposed the idea of taking you out on a walk in the outside world, you always rejected it, and I never forced you because I wanted to give you some time to adjust in your human form. But it has been several months already. If we don’t start looking for your husbands now, who knows when we will be able to find one. I don’t want to be known as a failed master to my contracted spirit beasts."
Seeing the hurt look in her Master’s eyes, Xuelin nodded her head in understanding before giving Xiang Ling a small hug of comfort. "I’m just afraid of troubling you." She confessed while pulling back from the hug.
"Stop overthinking. You aren’t troubling me at all. This is my duty as your master. Let’s work together and find a perfect husband for you." Xiang Ling sounded enthusiastic as she proposed the plan.
"Is Xuelin getting only one man?" Little Pink asked while fluttering her little wings.
"She can have as many as she wants, but for now, we need to find at least one urgently," Xiang Ling replied as she recalled learning about Xuelin being the only White Spirit Lion left in the Five Realms and how she needed to give birth to more babies to continue her lineage.
"But Master, how am I going to know if the man I met is the right one?" Xuelin asked with a confused look on her face.
"Isn’t it quite simple?" Xiang Ling asked while shifting her attention between her two contracted beasts. "Make sure that he’s handsome, tall, well-built, rich, still single, powerful, an-"
"Just stop!"
Before Xiang Ling could have finished counting out all the main qualities they needed in Xuelin’s future husband, she was silenced by Little Pink who was giving her a very unpleasant look.
"What?" Xiang Ling asked in confusion, not understanding why she was receiving such a look from the little creature.
Instead of answering her question, Little Pink turned her attention toward Xuelin and spoke, "Xuelin, don’t listen to this woman. She knows nothing about finding a good man."
Xiang Ling’s jaw dropped in shock and she turned her attention toward the little creature. "What are you talking about? How dare you say that I have no experience in finding good men? Haven’t you seen my husbands? They all are tall, handsome, well-built, rich, and powerful."
This resulted in a scoff and an empty laugh from Little Pink as if she was mocking Xiang Ling. "Those men you got have been served to you by destiny on a gold plate. Don’t you even dare say that you found them when they were literally waiting here like fools to be devoured by you."
Xiang Ling could hardly believe the audacity of her contracted beast. That little creature was becoming bold with every passing day. "You ungrateful thing! I should have known better than to accept you as my contracted beast. Look at you talking like that to me!"
"No need to get angry. I’m just stating the fact." Little Pink returned with a blank face.
Before Xiang Ling could have spoken, Xuelin decided to interfere before things could escalate any further. "Little Pink, don’t talk like that to Master. Just because she’s normally lenient on you doesn’t mean you can go around disobeying her."
Little Pink pouted as if she was a kid being scolded by her mother. Seeing how well-behaved she was acting at Xuelin’s words, Xiang Ling shook her head in shock. "She listens to you way better than she does to me."
"That’s because you spoil her a lot. You let her say whatever she wants, let her do whatever she wants, and are never hard on her. It’s no wonder she’s turning out to be like this. A spoiled little brat." Xuelin said as she smiled at Little Pink.
Xiang Ling let out an exasperated sigh and shook her head. "I must have really lost my brain back then to accept her as my contracted beast. Hah! Why was I so stupid?"
"Get used to it already because you are now stuck with me for eternity." Little Pink commented while giving Xiang Ling a challenging look, but immediately turned her expression soft when Xuelin turned her sharp gaze toward her.
"Alright. Let’s stop talking about this. We should already get going now." Xiang Ling said as she took hold of Xuelin’s hand to bring her out of the space. "Remember, for once, you can overlook everything that I just told you to find in your potential partner, but that one thing you can’t overlook... is that he’s the right one for you."
