Chapter 208: Xiang Ling Being Teased
"So, you are planning to open the clothing store, cosmetic store, and Jewelry shop all together at once?" Zuan Hu asked even though she already knew the answer after listening to Xiang Ling’s business plans that they had been discussing after lunch.
"That’s right." Xiang Ling confirmed her First sister-in-law’s guess while she continued helping them in creating another shade of rogue powder.
Their mission of creating cosmetic items had been going way better than Xiang Ling was expecting, and most surprisingly, she was enjoying it way more than she would have like to accept. They had been making everything from rogue powder to lip colors, and eyebrow pencils. These range of beauty products were made from natural ingredients like rice powder, flower petals, and mineral pigments.
Other than cosmetics, Xiang Ling was heavily invested in the line of skincare products which were mostly based on the products she herself had been using for years. The skincare products were made using oils and herbal extracts.
Using her resources, Xiang Ling used the spring water from her space to make the products safe for use as well as increasing their working potential. Every product created by the added ingredient of spring water turned out the best of its kind.
The last product that they added to the list were fragrance oils and pouches filled with fragrant herbs. This product was in collaboration with the clothing store as the pouches were made of the finest silk with beautiful and unique embroideries on them.
"You seriously don’t know how to embroider anything good. Do you?" Unlike Zuan Hu who was always busy cheering Xiang Ling to do better at things she was still not good at, Chao Xing was an entirely different case who didn’t let go of any possible chance of calling her (Xiang Ling) out at her lack of experience, just like she did right now.
Xiang Ling let out a small sigh before she gave her second sister-in-law a very unhappy look before replying, "At least, I’m better at it than you are at accounting."
While Chao Xing’s jaw dropped in horror, Zuan Hu burst out into a fit of laughter.
"Xiang Mei Mei, that was too personal!" Chao Xing complained as she gave Xiang Ling a very hard glare.
"Just as personal as you were being." Xiang Ling threw back before she returned her attention toward the pouch she was currently embroidering. Personally, she didn’t think her embroidery skills were too bad. Though she held no light in front of both her sister-in-laws’ skills and also their embroidery staff, she was still able to embroider pretty decently.
"You should be careful from now on when you are teasing her. She has finally found something over you." Zuan Hu told Chao Xing who let out a small sigh in defeat. Who would have known that one single mistake on her part would have landed her in such a predicament.
What happened was that the previous weekend, she was working on the account books of the Chen Manor and had to prepare the month’s account. Since she had overworked herself the entire day, she felt sleepy while working on the account book and ended up making one small mistake which ruined the entire account.
She wanted to recheck the account book the next morning but Xiang Ling got to it before her and saw the mistake. Ever since then, despite her constant attempts at trying to explain that the mistake wasn’t intentional, her evil sister-in-law refused to listen and had been using that incident to take revenge on her at every chance she got.
"Mei Mei, for whom are you making these pouches though? You have been quite dedicated these past few days." Zuan Hu suddenly asked when her attention returned to Xiang Ling who had all her focus on the pouch she was currently making.
Xiang Ling stopped working and turned her attention to her First sister-in-law. However, before she could have answered the question, Chao Xing spoke up first. "Isn’t it pretty obvious. For whom else she will be making those if not for her husbands?"
"Ahhh!"
The reaction that Zuan Hu gave, as realization hit her, was more of an attempt to tease Xiang Ling, and it did work as the latter’s cheeks immediately warmed up which caused both her sister-in-laws to burst out into a fit of giggles.
"Aww! Who would have thought that our Mei Mei is this shy. You are so cute, Mei Mei. No doubt your husbands adore you."
Once they finally found a way to tease Xiang Ling, they decided to not let go of the chance too quickly and continued to tease her for a little bit longer.
Feeling cornered, Xiang Ling stood up from her seat and started wrapping up the mess she had created on the table while working on the pouch.
"Mei Mei, where are you running to?" Chao Xing asked in that teasing tone of hers which resulted in a scoff from Xiang Ling.
"Away from the two of you." Xiang Ling threw back at them before she threw all the items inside her sleeves (space) and hurriedly walked toward the door. She was still able to hear those two women chuckling when she stepped out of the room and on the snow covered path.
Dongzhi City witnessed its first snow the evening before and a thin layer of snow now covered the land, decorating everything in the color of white. The sun was already at the horizon and the air smelled of the delicacies that were being prepared by the manor’s kitchen staff.
The slight chill she was feeling suddenly disappeared when she felt something warm surrounding her. A cloak landed on her shoulders before a man moved in front of her to adjust the cloak properly.
"Don’t roam around in such thin layers or you will catch a cold."
With a warm smile on her lips, Xiang Ling nodded her head in understanding before speaking, "Thank you first brother."
