Chapter 207: For The Best
While Xiang Ling and Dao Ming were busy voicing out their promises to each other, another person stood outside their room, listening everything with a soft smile on his lips. He felt happy for her and his friend as well. But all that he felt for himself in that moment was sadness and nothing else.
How much he wished to be as brave as Dao Ming to accept his love for his beloved. How much he wanted to be brave enough to face whatever punishments the future held for his choices. Unfortunately, he wasn’t brave enough.
Realizing that he shouldn’t stay there any longer to give the two inside real privacy, he made his way away from the room and headed downstairs. They were currently at an Inn that was located near the Azure Misty Mountains. Since Xiang Ling needed immediate medical attention, they booked a room at this inn and decided to stay there for the night.
He still remembered the way his entire world came to a standstill when he and Dao Ming heard her scream while they were on their way to their destination on the other side of the mountains. Both of them froze for a moment before they immeditely rushed to find her.
What made them panic even more was when they failed to find her despite being able to feel her presence nearby where a fight had broken out. It was almost like something or someone was stopping them from finding her. When they finally pushed past that force, they found that she had long left the mountains.
They tracked her all the way to the outskirts of the mountains and finally found her unconscious on the cold ground. They both were shouting her name, calling her as they tried to wake her up, but their calls were of no use. Fortunately, she was safe and they ended up detoxifying the demonic energy from her body.
Walking out of the Inn, he teleported back to the location where the fight between Xiang Ling and the infected plants took place. It was already unusual that there was the presence of demonic energy in the Azure Misty Mountains, but what he really wanted to find out was whether Xiang Ling got injured just by accident or if it was on purpose. Though the chances of the latter were slim, he still wanted to investigate a little bit for his relief.

When the morning arrived, Xiang Ling was pulled out of her deep slumber by a very good-looking Dao Ming. Recalling their conversation from the night before and realizing that she spent the entire night sleeping in his arms, she was unable to hold back the smile that bloomed on her lips and made her entire face glow.
"We need to get ready. You should return to the manor before anyone finds out about your disappearnce." Dao Ming told her before he placed a feathery kiss on her forehead, something he had done a lot since previous night.
Except for that one brief kiss she received from him on her lips, one that she didn’t even wanted to count in the first place as it didn’t even last for a proper second, the rest of his kisses had been mostly on her forehead and temples. While he didn’t hold himself back from touching her or kissing her head, he sure was trying his best to not kiss her on the lips.
Trying to not sound desperate, Xiang Ling controlled her urge to say anything and just accepted whatever she was receiving for the time being. She wanted to see how long the man was going to hold himself back, and if she could compete with him on that or not. Though she had a feeling that she would be the one giving in first.
Climbing out of the bed, she entered her space and quickly took a bath and dressed up for the day. When she finally headed downstairs, she found both Xin Cheng and Dao Ming waiting for her as the two of them were also done getting ready.
"Let’s go." Dao Ming said with a bright smile as he took hold of her hand and the three of them checked out of the Inn and walked till they were at a safe distance from any prying eyes. She didn’t even got to feel surprised when she felt Xin Cheng’s fingers wrapping around her other wrist as the very next moment, the three of them were pulled into a teleportation array that landed them inside Xiang Ling’s bed-chamber.
As soon as she found her balance, she turned to face Xin Cheng only to see the man teleporting away immediately as if he was running away from her on purpose.
When Dao Ming noticed her looking for Xin Cheng, he provided, "He has left for his room. I will be leaving now too. Let’s meet later." He once again placed a kiss on her forehead but before he could have pulled away, Xiang Ling wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him tightly.
"Let’s spend more time together later. I have missed your company so much these couple of months." She confessed and felt Dao Ming wrapping his arms around her as he returned the hug with just as much love and warmth.
"I will do everything you want me to do. I have missed being with you too. Have missed it more than I ever missed anything else." He confessed as well and made Xiang Ling chuckle softly.
The two of them remained like that in each-other’s embrace for a little bit longer before Xiang Ling finally pulled away and allowed the man to leave.
She was filled with contentment and happiness as she had successfully earned the love of one more men who had stolen her heart. However, among all the happiness, she was still able to feel the emptiness that belonged to none other than Xin Cheng. She might not be able to predict the future, but she could hope that things would change between them for the best.

A/N: Here’s the long awaited mass realease that I owed you guys. After writing these ten Chapters in such a short time, I have exhausted myself entirely. I’m apologizing if the story felt lacking here and there because it was so hard to make the plot good while I was suffering with exhaustion. I will try my best to make the coming Chapters more enjoyable. Please bear with me.
