Journey To Become an Insanely Pampered Wife

Chapter 185: Shadow Scorpion

Chapter 185: Shadow Scorpion

One month? Huang Bing knew better than to try for any sort of negotiation. Accepting the order, she took her leave and left the study.

Huang Jun didn’t looked up at his sister even once and just continued to read the document. He put down the first scroll only to pick up another one to read. The more he read, the more intrigued he became.

Just like his sister, he was dressed in black and red. His long black hair was pulled back in a high ponytail. His sharp facial features made him look just as unkind and cold as his heart was. But despite his cruelty, there was no denying that he was devilishly handsome. He was the kind of the dangerous man who made people fear him but at the same time be in awe of him.

The door of the study opened again and his personal guard stepped inside. He came to stand in front of the table where Huang Jun was currently sitting, and waited in silence.

"What’s with these?" Huang Jun asked as he showed the document to his personal guard. "It says both the attempts went futile."

"Yes, Master."

"And what’s with the involvement of the Young Miss Chen in all this?" Huang Jun asked. His neutral tone didn’t give away whether he was just curious or actually furious at the moment.

"At least that’s what our men are saying. During the demon attacks on the villages, she was mostly involved in taking care of the refugees. But she wasn’t the one who killed those demons. As for the plague in the Lin Family’s Village, she was the one who found the antidote and cured the villagers." The guard told everything he knew about Young Miss Chen’s involvement in these two cases.

"A mortal?" Huang Jun was deep in thoughts as he tried to imagine a mere mortal woman sabotaging such great plans without even meaning it. He couldn’t help but chuckle at the ridiculous image that appeared in his mind.

"Yes. But she seems to have cultivation powers." The guard revealed another information he had in possession.

Letting out a small sigh, Huang Jun decided to stop thinking further on the matter. "I’m sure that person is already planning his next move. Let’s wait and see what he does next to create chaos in the Mortal Realm. Make sure that things doesn’t go wrong this time."

"Yes, Master."

"You can leave now." Huang Jun dismissed the guard as he started putting away all the documents he just finished reading. He finally looked up when he noticed that the guard hadn’t left yet. "What is it?" He asked when he noticed the anxious look on his personal guard’s face.

"Master, it looks like the person who took away Young Miss’ slave was also Young Miss Chen." The guard finally revealed the last piece of information that he received only hours ago.

It was hard to read Huang Jun’s expression but the silence that stretched out for the next couple of minutes spoke volumes. He tapped his fingers on the table while looking like he was thinking about something really serious. After certain long moments, he finally responded, "Alright. You can leave."

The guard didn’t ask anything and gave a proper bow before turning to leave the study. He was almost at the door when he got stopped.

"Don’t tell Huang Bing about this."

"Yes, Master."

"Where is this woman from again?" Huang Jun asked next.

"She’s the daughter of the County Magistrate of Nanxia. They live in Dongzhi City." The guard answered and got immediately dismissed. Even though he was surprised to see his Master so invested in the involvement of Young Miss Chen, he didn’t dare to voice out his thoughts.

Huang Jun watched as the door of the study closed behind his personal guard. He was once again left alone in the study. Relaxing in his seat, he found himself wondering about the Young Miss Chen. He tried to indulge himself in some work but nothing really helped.

Letting out a frustrated sigh, he stood up from his seat and grabbed his cloak. The very next moment, his silhouette disappeared from the study.

The Chen Manor was illuminated dimly with the lanterns that were hanging around the entire place. Yet, they weren’t enough to eliminate the darkness of the night completely.

Except for the guards on duty, almost everyone inside the manor was fast asleep. That was why a demonic presence was able to get inside the manor without getting noticed by anyone.

However, as it passed through the servants quarters while in search of something, or someone, its presence was finally detected by someone. While it flew away further into the manor, the door on the farthest north opened and a man stepped outside while looking around quickly to scan the area.

The demonic presence flew all around the manor, checking every courtyard before it finally reached the end of the Manor where the biggest courtyard was located. It flew across the rooms before it finally came to a stop outside the back window of a certain room in the inner courtyard.

The window was left slightly ajar, probably by mistake as there was someone bathing inside. It was a young woman with long black hair and milky white skin. Her delicate shoulder blades moved as she removed her hair from her back and poured water on her skin.

Allured by the unexpected sight, the demonic presence seeped inside the room without even realizing it and immediately turned into the form of a man. His feet pulled him toward the woman who finally noticed his presence.

He got to see a mere glimpse of her skin before water splashes attacked his face. The very next moment, he found the woman dressed in a white robe while she launched an attack at him. He deflected her first attack and in the process, he finally got a clear view of her face. She was such a beauty that he almost got struck by her second attack.
