Chapter 184: Four Scorpions
Chapter 184: Four Scorpions
Underground Slave Market
~
Almost every shop in this underground market was tall, famous, and owned by someone powerful. But everyone related to this forbidden place knew that the actual ones who ruled the entire Black Market of the Mortal Realm were the Four Scorpions.
As the name suggested, Four Scorpions were the four secret sects who ruled the Black Market. The Auction House of the Underground Slave Market was owned by the leader of the Four Scorpions - Shadow Scorpion, and the most known figure after the Master of the Shadow Scorpion was the young miss of the Sect, the younger sister of the Leader of the powerful dark sect - Huang Bing.
The Young Miss of the Shadow Scorpion Sect was known throughout the Black Market, not only because of her brother but also because she literally ruled the entire Black Market.
Currently, inside the back hall of the Shadow Scorpion Auction House, there was a very bone-chilling scene taking place.
A woman dressed in crimson and black colored robe was sitting on the high seat that almost looked like a throne. Her dark, bold makeup made her look even more unkind and fierce as she glared at the group of men kneeling in front of her.
"Let me ask again - why you still haven’t found him?"
Her sharp voice echoed through the walls, making the men shiver as they feared their end was too close. Despite trying for two months, they had been unable to locate the whereabouts of the slave who ran away. So far, there had been four different groups who were sent to locate him and failed which resulted in their demise. Their Young Miss was not known for showing mercy to failures at all.
"Young Miss, we have searched through the entire Luhan County, but no one had seen or heard about that slave in the past two months. It’s almost like he disappeared into thin air- AAHHH!"
The ear-piercing painful scream of the man filled the hall for a second before everything became dead silent. Being aware of what just happened, the rest of the men didn’t dare to even look up to see what method the young woman had used to kill their fellow member.
Even the servants were just as terrified as the group of men who were waiting to meet their end. They all kept their heads buried against the floor as they kneeled there in front of their Young Miss and prayed for some sort of miracle to save their lives.
"You lowly mortals. How dare you show your faces here after failing time and again in finding a lowly Demon fairy? I’m going to fed you all to my Scorpions today." The young woman announced in such a calm tone as if she was talking about tea and snacks.
Panic took over the hall and soon enough, the place was filled with screams and cries as everyone tried to plead for mercy. However, their pleas landed on deaf ears and they all were dragged away to be fed to the poisonous scorpions of the Shadow Scorpion Sect.
The noise died down and the hall became silent all over again. A man, dressed in black guard clothes, appeared in the now empty hall and bowed to greet Huang Bing.
"Young Miss, do I need to send another group to locate that slave?"
Huang Bing raised her hand in a stop sign before she spoke, "He’s just a lowly Demon Fairy. He alone could have never fled without leaving behind a single evidence. Someone else might have helped him. This time, you will go and find him. Remember, I need him alive."
The man didn’t even blink despite the fact that the task just signed his death note in case of his failure. He just bowed his head in acceptance of his new mission and walked out of the hall.
Huang Bing let out a deep sigh before she picked up the cup of wine that had been sitting on the table beside her throne and took a sip of the fragrant and sweet liquid. But instead of feeling happy, her mood turned even more sour.
A maid came running into the hall, infuriating Huang Bing even further. "What is it?" The harshness in her tone had the maid kneeling immediately before she answered the question. "Young Miss, Master is here and he’s asking you to head to the study immediately."
The ferocious look on Huang Bing’s face disappeared immediately as soon as she got to know about her brother’s sudden appearance at the auction house. In the entire world, if there was any person who could make her feel terrified, then it was none other than her brother - Huang Jun.
Not wasting another moment, she headed toward her brother’s study to meet him. Outside the study, she saw her brother’s personal guard standing.
"Be careful. He knows about your killing spree during the past two months." The man warned her and Huang Bing felt cold shivers running down her spine. Most of the time, her brother left her alone and didn’t pay much attention to whatever she did. However, there were moments where she ended up doing something that made him angry. Looking at the current situation, it seemed like she had once again did something to anger him.
Taking in a deep breath, she knocked on the door before opening it and stepped inside. The room was brightly lit with lanterns and sitting at the study desk was Huang Jun.
"Brother." She greeted with a proper courtsey and stood there while waiting for her brother to speak.
The man remained silent for a while before he finally spoke - "Do you know how many people you have killed in the past two months?" Though he didn’t sound angry, Huang Bing knew better than to feel relieved yet.
"I apologize for causing you trouble again." She quickly apologized and watched as her brother kept his attention focused on the official document he was reading at the moment.
"I’m giving you one month. Make sure to wrap up your stuff without causing any further trouble."
