Chapter 156: The Chaos in the Carriage
Chapter 156: The Chaos in the Carriage
Xiang Ling grabbed the man’s hand and pressed her fingers over his wrist to check his pulse. His pulse was very weak because of all the blood loss and malnourishment. She even sensed the presence of spiritual energy within him, indicating that he wasn’t a mortal.
Letting out a small sigh, she started working on taking off his clothes which were nothing more than a mess of torn fabrics. She needed them out of the way so that she could take a look at his wounds and treat them accordingly. However, as soon as she took off his waistbelt, a hand grabbed hers and stopped her.
"What are you doing?" She asked Dao Ming when she noticed that he was the one holding her hand.
"What do you mean by that question? I should be the one asking what you think you are doing?" Dao Ming demanded an answer in return of her question.
"Can’t you see that he’s about to die? What’s the point of saving him if he eventually end up dead? Move away and let me treat him before he looses the remaining little blood left in his body." She tried to shake off the Spirit Beast King’s hold on her hand but to no avail.
"We are about to reach the city within next ten minutes. I’m sure he can survive until then." Dao Ming didn’t seem the least bit interested in saving the slave. All that he wanted was to get her as far away from the man as possible.
"Stop being ridiculous. Can’t you see how bad his situation is? Let me treat him." This time, Xiang Ling succeeded in getting her hand free from his grip and turned her attention back on the injured man. As she was on her way to take off his robes, another voice disturbed her.
"Do you really need to take off his clothes? Just use your powers to heal him." Xin Cheng advised but the clear edge in his voice didn’t go unnoticed by Xiang Ling.
She continued to work on getting rid of the slave’s robes as she answered, "Why should I use my powers to heal him if it can be done through medicine? And to use the right medicine, I need to take a better look at his wounds. Now please both of you stay quiet and let me do my work."
Since her back was facing Xin Cheng and Dao Ming, she completely missed the sour look on both of their faces, and their expressions only darkened as she took off the slave’s robe which left him in his pants only.
"Let me do it." Xin Cheng suddenly offered but was immeditely stopped by Xiang Ling. "Keep your demonic powers away from him. He carries pure spiritual energy in his core. Your dark energy will only make his situation worse."
She used a quick spell to clean all the dirt and blood from the man’s body which left his wounds and scars in clear sight. She was unable to not feel pity for the man. With his face cleaned, he looked a really good-looking young man in his early twenties. He was almost as handsome as the men in her harem. But it was such a pity that his body was nothing more than an empty shell with dozens of scars all over it.
"Can you stop looking at him so closely?" Dao Ming was unable to hold back his frustration when he saw her brushing away some loose strands of the slave’s hair from his face. "And stop treating him so softly!"
Xiang Ling, who just brushed away the hair from the man’s face to take a closer look at the cuts on his cheeks and forehead, turned her attention toward the Spirit Beast King. At this point, she had finally realized why these two men were acting so weird about her treating the slave’s wounds. While Dao Ming’s reactions didn’t surprise her much, the same couldn’t be said about Xin Cheng’s reactions. She was really surprised that the Demon Emperor was being vocal about his real feelings for once.
Taking in a deep breath, she spoke while addressing both the men. "If you both are worried that I’m interested in this man and have any ill intentions toward him, then be at ease. I swear that I have no such thoughts. I only want to treat his wounds and I promise that I will not look at him in any other way than as my patient. Alright?"
Both men were silent for a while before Dao Ming slowly gave a nod of approval. Yet, the unhappy look didn’t leave his handsome face. On the other hand, Xin Cheng decided to stop paying her any further attention as he closed his eyes and returned to ignore everything, especially her.
Finally getting the much needed peace, Xiang Ling focused her attention on the injured man. She took out the required pills and other medicines from her space and started treating the serious wounds. She first bandaged his back along with his abdomen and shoulder. By the time she finished, nearly his entire upper body was covered in bandages.
Next, she focused on his face and made sure to treat the wounds properly so they wouldn’t leave any scars. She then fed him a spiritual pill with some difficulty. Finally, it was time to check the wounds on his lower body.
As if Dao Ming realized what she was about to do next, he quickly moved forward and stopped her. "Let me do it."
Xiang Ling didn’t deny his help and allowed him to help her. She turned her back toward the two of them and provided guidance while the Spirit Beast King worked on treating the wounds of an unknown slave.
Once all the wounds were properly treated, Xiang Ling took out a new set of clothes from her space and handed it to Dao Ming who didn’t voice out a single word of protest.
"Why do you have men’s clothes in your possession?"
