"How did things go?" Dao Ming inquired as soon as Xiang Ling returned to their private room on the second floor.
The auction ended around half an hour ago and Xiang Ling stuck to her plan of fixing a deal with the auction house. She immediately went to look for anyone of importance in the building and only returned after half an hour.
At first, she remained completely silent in response to Dao Ming’s question which made both the men share a look of confusion between them. However, this confusion didn’t last long as she immediately broke her facade and ran straight into Dao Ming’s arms who was slightly taken aback as he wasn’t expecting her to do something like that.
Wrapping her arms around his shoulders, she hugged the Spirit Beast King tightly and started jumping around in happiness while giggling like a little girl. "It worked. It worked. My plan worked. I got five hundred thousand golden taels, hundred thousand for each of the five Primordial Lotus Seeds I sold to them. I’m rich now, Ah Ming. I have become rich!"
Dao Ming chuckled in response to her enthusiasm and after allowing her a few moments to enjoy her happiness, he pulled her away from himself and immediately signaled her to stay silent.
Realizing that her happy squeals were earning them way too much attention from the people still present in the auction house, Xiang Ling quickly quited down. Yet, the big smile remained plastered on her lips which were hidden behind the veil.
"Look at you acting so ridiculously. Being a Supreme Immortal, you really behave like you are a peasant. Only five hundred thousand golden taels are enough to make you lose your brain." Xin Cheng was unable to hold himself back from commenting.
Xiang Ling closed her eyes for a second and let out an exasperated sigh. The man had been calling her out on her behavior every chance he got ever since he found out that she was an Immortal. However, it only got worse after he found out that she was the Supreme Immortal Xing through the little investigation his men did on her and the incident that landed her in the Mortal Realm.
Turning her attention toward him, she spoke, "Don’t you know how hard I have been working to earn every penny ever since I came to the Mortal Realm? After all, I’m not like those shameless people who are using their money from their other identity while living as mortals." She added the last part to take revenge.
"No one stopped you from using your money from your other identity." Xin Cheng provided in response.
Squaring her hands, Xiang Ling replied, "Do I need to remind you about the Heavenly rules that forbids-" She didn’t get to finish speaking as the Demon Emperor suddenly placed his index finger against her lips to silent her.
"I have no interest in wasting my time hearing about those stupid Heavenly rules of yours. So, save both my time and your effort."
Xiang Ling immediately quited down and it was more because of his finger that was placed against her lips and less because he asked her to. Despite the fabric of the veil separating their skins from coming into direct contact, she was still able to feel the warmth of his finger against her lips, and for a few moments, it was all she could think about.
"We should leave now." Dao Ming spoke, pulling both of them apart. Without another word, the three of them headed out of the private room and made their way out of the building. Once again, they used the transportation system that brought them out of the underground market and back to the surface.
Walking out of the Inn, they were back on the bustling street of the Black Market. Suddenly, the two men came to a stop, halting Xiang Ling in her tracks as well.
"What’s wrong?" She asked while looking around to see if anything unusual caught her attention only to came up empty as everything looked completely normal to her.
It was Dao Ming who turned his attention toward her and spoke, "Stay here and wait for us. We will be back as soon as possible." He didn’t give her time to ask anything as both he and Xin Cheng disappeared from there the very next second.
Xiang Ling let out a sigh and stared at the area around her. She couldn’t help but wonder what could have caused those two men to leave in such hurry. Not having anything to do, she decided to take a look around the Black Market.
One by one, she checked out the shops and the stalls, eventually buying a few items that she found worth investing in. The one shop that won her heart completely was a small shop selling all kinds of seeds. There were vegetable seeds, fruit seeds, different types of tea, spiritual herbs, spiritual vines, flower trees, normal trees, crop seeds, and what not.
She got so busy in checking the shops that she didn’t realize how deep she had ventured into the market. It was only when she stepped out of a weapon shop and moved ahead did she noticed the high wall standing there, signaling the end of the street.
She was ready to turn around and return to the spot where Xin Cheng and Dao Ming left her, when she noticed the commotion going on in a side alley. She took a quick look and noticed a group of men chasing after someone.
Ignoring them, she continued moving ahead only to bump into someone at the entrance of the next alley. While she only staggered a little bit, the other person ended up falling from the impact. Before Xiang Ling could have moved to help them, the group of men caught up and surrounded him. It was only then did she realized that the person who bumped into her was the same person whom she saw these goons chasing a moment ago.
