Chapter 152: Blood Moon Pearl
Chapter 152: Blood Moon Pearl
Phoenix Feather Robe was sold for two hundred thousand golden taels. It was a robe made from the feathers of a Phoenix and granted its wearer unparalleled speed and agility.
Dragon Scale Armor was sold for hundred and fifty thousand golden taels. It was an armor crafted from the scales of an ancient dragon, providing near-impenetrable defense against all forms of attack.
The next item on the list was the Starlight Jade Pendant which was sold for two hundred and thirty-five golden taels. It was a beautiful pendant containing a fragment of a falling star, able to unleash devastating celestial energy.
When it came to the next item on the list, Xiang Ling found herself regretting not knowing about this auction beforehand. The next item was the Primordial Lotus Seed which was sold for four hundred thousand golden taels.
The spiritual pills refined from the seeds of the primordial lotus were able to grant cultivation powers of ten thousand years for a span of few days to whoever consumed it.
The reason Xiang Ling ended up devastated was because she had around ten such seeds in her possession. Just thinking about so much money, that she failed to get, made her want to cry her heart out.
"Don’t be do disheartened. You can always make a deal for the next auction." Dao Ming whispered from his seat where he was enjoying the tea and the auction.
"How do you know what I’m thinking?" Xiang Ling asked suspiciously.
"Your expression." Was all he said in response.
Nodding her head, Xiang Ling made a plan to later find the woman who hosting the auction to make a beneficial deal.
The next items on the list were - Soul Devouring Mirror, Golden Pagoda of Wisdom, Heavenly Thunder Pearl, Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit Stone, Void-Treading Shoes, Celestial Dragon’s Eye, Phoenix Tears Elixir, Time-Warping Hourglass, Jade Dragon Cauldron, and Spiritual Harmony Flute. All these items were rare treasures and were sold at sky high prices.
Xiang Ling was looking forward to the next item and noticed Dao Ming bending forward slightly as all of his attention shifted on the view downstairs. She didn’t need to ask him to know that the item he wanted to buy was finally about to appear.
"This next item is not only a rare treasure but also a unique one. The rumors says that it was created by the first Spirit Beast King and he gifted it to his wife on the night of their wedding. Ever since then, this item became a treasured heirloom of the royal family of the Spirit Beast Kingdom." The woman told the guests before she finally lifted the silk cloth.
"The Blood Moon Pearl Hairpin. The only such pearl to exist in the history of the five realms. The starting bid for this haitpin is - three hundred thousand golden taels."
The starting bidding amount took everyone by surprise. This was highest starting bid of the night so far. Even the rare treasures like the Primordial Lotus Seed, Heaven’s Edge Sword, and the Golden Pagoda came no where near such high starting bid.
Xiang Ling moved closer to the railing to take a better look at the hairpin while people started placing their prices to get their hands on the hairpin.
It was a slender golden hairpin, intricately crafted with delicate filigree patterns. At its pinnacle rested the captivating Blood Moon Pearl, glowing with a deep crimson hue, radiating an aura of mystery and allure. The golden tendrils were wrapped around the pearl like celestial vines, accentuating its beauty and elegance. This exquisite accessory exuded a sense of regal splendor and timeless charm.
"What’s that Blood Moon Pearl?" Xiang Ling found herself asking while she kept her gaze fixed on the hairpin. She couldn’t recall ever seeing a more prettier hairpin in her entire life.
The one who answered her question was Xin Cheng. "It was originally a normal pearl. The full moon is known to give a miraculous boost to the powers of the wolf spirit beasts, but it is the blessing of the Blood Moon that makes them truly invincible. The stories say that the first Blood Moon appeared on the night of the first Spirit Wolf Beast King’s wedding day and its divine energy filled the normal looking pearl with an otherworldly power. It is also said that this pearl can grant its owner the power to control the tides of fate."
Xiang Ling was surprised to hear the story behind the unique pearl. "I haven’t heard about the Blood Moon ever before." She said while looking at the VIP room on the first floor who just bid a price of seven hundred thousand golden taels for the hairpin.
"Not many people know about it as it has only appeared twice throughout the history of the five realms." Xin Cheng replied.
Intrigued, Xiang Ling turned her attention toward the Demon Emperor and asked, "When was the second time?"
Before Xin Cheng could answer, their room got filled with the voice of Dao Ming who finally placed his bid when the VIP on the first floor was about to win the hairpin.
"ONE MILLION GOLDEN TAELS!"
Among the gasps of shock that filled the building as soon as the price was announced, there was one that belonged to Xiang Ling who was staring at Dao Ming as if the man had suddenly grown a second head.
One million? That was way too much money. No one dared to bid again, not only because the price of one million was way too high for them to match, but also because they all believed that it was clearly stupid to waste so much money on a hairpin.
Within seconds, Dao Ming won the bid and the hairpin. A look of satisfaction was decorating his face as he relaxed in his chair and took a sip of the tea as if he just didn’t spent a million golden taels.
"The second time..." Xin Cheng’s voice pulled Xiang Ling’s attention back to him. "... was on the day of the birth of the current King of the Spirit Beast Kingdom."
