Chapter 117: The Divine Blue Star
Chapter 117: The Divine Blue Star
Xiang Ling felt like she was burning from the inside out. Despite the darkness that was surrounding her, she was only able to focus on the agony that her body was currently suffering from.
A painful groan escaped her slightly parted lips as she struggled to open her eyes. The more she tried, the more powerful the hold of the darkness became on her. It felt like the darkness refused to let her go.
Amid all the chaos and pain, she felt something cold and soft touching her burning body, immediately providing her with relief. A cold breath touched her ear and she heard a familiar voice gently whispering to her - "It’s alright. Don’t panic. I’m right here with you. Try to relax and open your eyes slowly."
Xiang Ling knew that voice, knew its owner, and yet, she wasn’t able to recall just who this person was who provided her with such comfort. She tried to follow his guidance and took deep breaths to calm herself down. She stopped thinking about the darkness and slowly, once again tried to open her eyes. This time, nothing held her back and her eyes finally flew open.
She blinked a couple of times to allow her vision to get used to the silvery moonlight that was shining down on the vast expanse of a beautiful scenery she failed to recognize. Her eyes quickly scanned the area that enchanted her the moment her gaze fell on it, making her completely forget about the person who was also present there with her.
The place seemed like the heart of a cavern, its walls covered in a spiritual ivy and silvery blue flowers bloomed on it. Xiang Ling realized that she was in a cold spring that glistened under the soft moonlight, its crystalline water reflected the stars above like a mirror of dreams. Wisps of mist danced gracefully around the rocky walls, weaving enchanting patterns that seemed to come alive with every gentle breeze.
Above, the canopy of the cave opened up like a celestial gateway, revealing the vast expanse of the night sky adorned with shimmering constellations. A tapestry of colors painted by the Aurora Borealis draped across the heavens, casting a spellbinding glow that bathed the surroundings in ethereal light.
In this mystical place, luminous fireflies flitted about, their gentle glow adding to the enchantment of the scene. Frosted ferns and delicate icicles adorned the cavern’s edges, sparkling like jewels in the moon’s embrace.
A chorus of nocturnal creatures serenaded the tranquil landscape, their melodies blending harmoniously with the murmuring of the spring and the whispering of the wind. And amidst it all, Xiang Ling found herself sitting against the rocks in one of the corners of the stream while its cold water provided her relief from the fire that was burning inside her.
"So beautiful..."
She whispered the words as she took in the beauty of the place. Throughout her Immortal life of ten thousand years, she had seen a lot of mystical places but this one was surely straight out of a dream book.
"Indeed." The whisper of agreement finally pulled her attention toward the person beside her and she found herself looking into the most beautiful pair of dazzling purple eyes.
"Zhe Yuan?"
She was surprised to see the man there and as she looked at him, like really looked at him, she finally started noticing that he looked nothing like his usual self. His long silver hair had touches of deep purple in it. A purple spirit flower adorned the side of the crown of his head, tucked safely into his hair.
His upper body was left completely bare and as water droplets trickled down his perfectly shaped muscles, Xiang Ling found her gaze keenly following their trails. Three pendants, with different sizes of purple gems, were hanging around his neck on golden chains and matched with the purple gem and golden earrings he was wearing.
It was not until her gaze fell on the golden bracelets on his wrist, did Xiang Ling noticed the purple shiny scales that kept shimmering across his perfectly smooth skin.
Scales?
Her eyes immediately flew toward his legs and what she found there was a beautiful purple tail of a fish instead of the legs of a human.
A gasp left her lips as she was left shocked and frozen. Her gaze shifted between the man’s face and his body, her eyes noticing more shiny scales that she previously missed.
"You... y-you are a... merman!"
Zhe Yuan smiled at her before he inched his face closer, making the space between their faces disappear until their noses were just breaths away from brushing against each other. "I think it’s the perfect time for us to properly introduce ourselves."
Xiang Ling was too stunned to speak. So, she just stared at him with wide eyes without saying anything.
Pulling back slightly, Zhe Yuan looked directly Into her eyes and introduced himself. "I’m Wen Zhe Yuan, Crown Prince of the Water Realm."
Crown Prince? Water Realm? Xiang Ling found herself struggling to believe her eyes and ears. Another one of her husbands just turned out to be a very powerful personality of one of the Five Realms. No doubt, he looked so ethereal. The man was a merman and not just any merman but the Crown Prince of the Water Realm.
"What about you? Who are you?" Zhe Yuan asked when Xiang Ling remained silent for way too long. His eyes were filled with curiosity and excitement as he waited for her to reveal her identity.
"Me?" Xiang Ling was ready to say that she was Chen Xiang Ling but she knew that the man was aware that she was not the real Chen Xiang Ling. Since he was an Immortal, he must have sensed her Immortal powers and her divine energy almost the first time they met.
"I’m Supreme Immortal Xing, Xiang Ling." She finally answered him after a few moments.
Zhe Yuan’s eyes sparkled the moment he heard the words ’Supreme Immortal Xing’. He recognized the title. "The Divine Blue Star."
