As the sun began its gentle ascent, casting a warm glow upon the horizon, dew-kissed leaves shimmered like emeralds in the soft morning light.
The air was crisp and fragrant, infused with the earthy aroma of wet soil and rejuvenated flora.
Delicate raindrops danced gracefully upon vibrant petals, orchestrating a symphony of tranquility as they pattered against leaves and trickled down slender branches.
Each droplet refracted the sunlight, creating a prism of colors that painted the world in ethereal hues. The song of birds filled the air, their melodic chirps harmonizing with the soothing patter of rain, a symphony celebrating the dawn of a new day.
In the kitchen of the Inn, Xiang Ling was busy preparing morning meals for the patients along with Li Xian and some women from the village who were already back to full health and wanted to help.
It had been three days since Xiang Ling found the antidote and so much had changed since then.
The level one patients healed within a day after consuming the antidotes as their health had already greatly improved after drinking the spiritual water and the concoctions for a week before taking the antidote.
Level two patients were also about to return to their full health within a day or two and Level three weren’t too behind as well.
However, the same couldn’t be said about Level Four patients. Though the poison had left their bodies after taking antidotes, their health had already deteriorated to a great level. They probably needed another week to heal completely and return to their healthy selves.
All the houses, shops, streets, and even fields in the Lin Family’s Village were disinfected once again. The animals were also fed with antidotes and life had returned to the village to some level as the streets no longer looked empty and silent.
Despite her bad condition, Xiang Ling once again used her powers to take care of the trees and the fields to get rid of the remnants of the poison along with Liying.
The villagers who had recovered, they already started working in their fields to grow new crops as it was still the mid of the rainy season.
When Xiang Ling wasn’t helping the disciples of Wangjing Medical Sect to look after the patients, she spent her time in the fields, supervising the villagers as they all prepared for a new harvest.
No one questioned Xiang Ling’s words in the entire Lin Family’s Village. Everyone followed her words without any doubts as they all had given the young lady their utmost trust after seeing her bringing their dead village back to life within two weeks. She was like a benevolent Immortal for them who had descended from the Heaven Realm to help their village. Little did these people know just how close their superstitions were to the actual truth.
"Here. Drink it before it gets cold." Li Xian said as he placed a glass filled with warm honey water on the table where Xiang Ling was busy chopping the vegetables.
Looking up at the man, Xiang Ling found herself smiling. Throughout the past two weeks, the Crown Prince had been a perfect gentleman and the sweetest being around her. He always made sure that her health was being taken care of despite how busy he had been in helping the disciples in looking after the patients.
The four of them - Xiang Ling, Li Xian, Zhe Yuan, and Liying, always ate their meals together and Li Xian always made sure that Xiang Ling was having a proper and nutritional meal. He didn’t leave the table unless she finished her food.
Not only that, he always made sure that she washed her hands properly, her clothes were perfectly washed, her tea was prepared the way she liked, and that she was comfortably sleeping. Since the three of them were sharing a room, Xiang Ling was the one sleeping on the bed while the two men slept on the floor.
While Zhe Yuan had also been treating her nicely and cared for her, Li Xian stood out the most as he was around her a lot.
Since Zhe Yuan was working with the disciples of Wudang Sect, his work mostly revolved around physical activities and he was always working in a different place from Xiang Ling who was looking after the patients along with Li Xian. This gave the latter two to spend a lot of time together and despite her initial anger toward the Crown Prince, she found her heart actually warming up to him.
When she gave it a real deep thought, she realized that Li Xian hadn’t made things hard for her on purpose. Even if he did disappear from his closed-door cultivation before nirvana, he had no hand in making her suffer through the punishment that fell on her. In the end, the real culprit was his mother, the Heavenly Empress.
"Ah Ling, you don’t look good at all." The concern was clear in Li Xian’s voice as he took a seat beside her and looked at her face closely.
He knew that she had exhausted herself, but despite his constant efforts, her health wasn’t improving at all. "Please listen to me. Go and rest for a while. I promise to take care of the things here. Please."
Xiang Ling was aware that her mortal body was on the verge of collapsing as she failed to rest and take care of it after she overwhelmed the body with the extreme use of her spiritual powers.
Realizing that she had no other option left but to rest, she gave a nod of her head and watched as Li Xian’s stiff shoulders visibly relaxed a little.
She picked up the glass of honey water and made her way out of the kitchen. She was heading toward the stairs when it happened, the world around her suddenly swirled as her head started buzzing all of a sudden. But it all went away as soon as she shook her head.
Taking in a deep breath, she quickly ascended the stairs. She needed to enter her space and cultivate immediately. However, right as she reached the topmost step, the world once again swirled around her and this time, there was no stopping the fall.
